Just a few days before the Masters teed off, one PGA Tour member learned he'd been suspended from the tour.
A year after finishing runner-up at the Corales Puntacana Championship, Wesley Bryan is back at the Puntacana Resort, but isn't competing in the event. Instead, he's on vacation with his family.
"We had this vacation planned for months, so I decided we would still come down,” Bryan told Monday Qualifier. “It's been a long time since we had a family vacation where golf wasn't involved.”
The PGA Tour allegeldy placed Bryan on probation a few days after his involvement in The Duels: Miami was announced. The event featured six LIV golfers teaming up with six YouTube creators for a nine-hole scramble with a $250,000 purse on the line. Not long after video of the event was posted to YouTube, Bryan learned he would be facing disciplinary action from the PGA Tour.
He was reportedly suspended the day after the video was posted, which happened on April 6 - just four days before the start of the year's first major tournament. Despite his suspension, Bryan had nothing but positive things to say about the tour.
"For the last eight or nine years, the opportunities have been amazing," he said. "I'm extremely grateful to the Tour for that. I don't want this to be the end of my professional golf career."
Asked if he regretted playing in the event, Bryan said, "No, I don't have regrets. That video is one of the most powerful videos in YouTube golf...We are going to continue to support Grant and grow the game through YouTube."
The PGA Tour did not tell Bryan when his suspension will be complete.
