When it comes to the fast food chain Wendy's, it doesn't get more iconic than the Frosty. The chain's famous frozen treat has been around for decades, with Wendy's explaining that the original "Frosty formula was inspired by ice cream that a race track in Cleveland had in the 1960s."
They say that one shouldn't fix what's not broken, but there's no harm in switching up the Frosty a bit. Now, Wendy's has announced a new take on their classic Frosty with Frosty Swirls, featuring new sauces, and Frosty Fusions, offering sauces and different sweet treat mix-ins, such as Pop-Tarts and OREO cookies.
Frosty Swirls, according to Wendy's, will be available nationwide starting April 15 and Frosty Fusions will follow beginning May 12.
"Frosty has been on Wendy's menu for 55 years and is one of the most iconic frozen treats in American culture," Lindsay Radkoski, U.S. Chief Marketing Officer for The Wendy's Company, said in a statement. "We're expanding on our beloved Frosty so when a sweet tooth strikes, the choice is easy for consumers: It's Gotta Be Wendy's."
As for flavors, the Strawberry Frosty Swirl features sweet, juicy strawberry sauce swirled and topped on a creamy Frosty; the Caramel Frosty Swirl offers a treat that tastes like a creamy candy bar; and the Brownie Batter Frosty Swirl is decadent and chocolatey, according to the company.
For the Frosty Fusions, the Pop-Tarts Strawberry Frosty Fusion marks the first time Pop-Tarts have been officially offered as a mix-in for a frozen treat in the QSR industry. Talk about a Gen X treat. They'll also offer the OREO Brownie Frosty Fusion with the classic Frosty swirled chocolatey brownie batter sauce and mixed with OREO cookie pieces, as well as the Caramel Crunch Frosty Fusion, blending the classic Frosty with crunchy toffee pieces and a sweet caramel sauce.
