Can Brett Goldstein shed his image as the foul-mouthed, hilarious Roy Kent from Ted Lasso? In what feels like a very old-school romantic comedy, Goldstein has teamed up with Jennifer Lopez for a new movie called Office Romance. Here's why this rom-com might be the best bet for a Netflix date night in June.
Netflix just released the new trailer for Office Romance, following a real-life stunt in which Jennifer Lopez updated her actual LinkedIn profile to reflect that idea that she is a "CEO & Pilot" of a company called "Air Cruz." In the movie, Lopez will play a high-powered executive of an airline, named Jackie Cruz, who, as you might have guessed, falls in love with her new in-house lawyer, played by Goldstein.
The cast also features Amy Sedaris, Tony Hale, Edward James Olmos, and in the trailer, right away, recent Star Trek: Picardand Star Trek: Discovery alums Michelle Hurd and Mary Wiseman.
Office Romance Release Date and Trailer
Office Romance isn't just a kind of new direction for Brett Goldstein. He's also the co-writer of the movie with Joe Kelly. The movie is directed by Ol Parker.
Office Romance will start streaming on Netflix on June 5, 2026. This is exactly one month prior to Goldstein's return in Ted Lasso Season 4 on August 5.
How often is it that you're scrolling through your phone on the sofa and need to use an obscured outlet that's hiding behind it? Well, the latest trend in sofas has less to do with comfort and more with convenience. This Costway sofa takes care of that plug-in issue for you with its four hidden USB ports. Plus, it’s a whopping 88% off at Target right now.
The Costway Modular 4-Seat Sectional Sofa is on sale for as low as $360, plummeting from the original $3,000 price tag. This item boasts over 10 five-star ratings at Target and comes in three colors, but the dark grey option currently holds the most affordable price, while the others—still on sale—range from $400 to $403.
Costway Modular 4-Seat Sectional Sofa, $360 (was $3,000) at Target
Not many sofas feature 4 USB ports and 2 power outlets, but this sofa isn’t like others. It’ll allow you to recharge your devices with ease, and everything is hidden within or behind the couch, preventing the wires from being an eyesore. This sofa also has a hidden caddy in the armrest that you can store a TV remote or other personal belongings in to ensure you never lose anything under the cushions of the couch.
And speaking of those cushions, the high-density sponge offers premium comfort, and all four seats are extremely comfortable, as well as capable of holding over 600 pounds each. In addition, a removable ottoman is part of your purchase too, and it can be arranged wherever you want to form an L-shaped sofa.
In terms of price, you can find more luxurious furniture with the same number of seats at Wayfair, yet it’ll cost you at least $200 to $300 more at least.
One of the main concerns when it comes to furniture shopping is assembly, but shoppers say not to worry. “Easy assembly, no tools needed,” they reported. “Clean lines, low-profile, well-crafted, and very comfortable seating that is firm, but not overly firm.”
Another shopper said the sofa is simply great and a fine addition to a new living space. “It is wonderful!” they said. “Looks fantastic in my son's new apartment.”
The collapse didn't exactly come out of nowhere, but it was equally shocking to watch.
Lindy's Diner, in southwest Albuquerque, New Mexico, had reportedly been issued a red tag by city officials on April 20 because of its "unsafe structure." Exactly one week later, a video captured the moment the wall on the east side of the historic diner collapsed.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. But the video shows the moment a car drives by the diner before the entire wall crumbles below.
Fire officials told Albuquerque's KOAT 7 that they had to evacuate some of the adjoining structures of the building.
Lindy's Diner Owners Speak Out
"It's tragic. I'm sure that building will now be demolished. It's a historic landmark. That's 35 years of my life right there," Co-owner Dawn Vatoseow told KOAT 7.
It's not the first time the owners have spoken out about the diner's structural issues. In fact, it was a KOAT 7 investigation that initially triggered the city to look into concerns about the building's unsafe structure following numerous complaints.
Vatoseow told the station that they were also aware of the structural problems and sought to fix them by applying for city and state grants, to no avail.
"Most of those grants have to be picked up by a municipality. They have to be the ones to apply for the grant. The money doesn't come directly to you. It comes to the city of Albuquerque," Vateseow told KOAT 7. "Then, they dispense it out to the people that have applied for those grants. It is a lengthy process and everything takes money. There's only so much that you can afford to do without help trying to keep this building going."
City officials told KOAT 7 that they "proactively assisted Lindy's Diner in applying for the 'Preserve Route 66 Combined Grant' in 2025," and received funds to expand and make upgrades.
In the end, major structural issues forced its closure.
"Well, it certainly isn't the way that we wanted to go out, that's for sure. I would have liked to have gone out on our own terms and say goodbye to our customers," Vatoseow told KOAT 7.

Lindy's Diner Will Try To Reopen
Vatoseow says plans are to raise the money to pay for the structural repairs, which are estimated at a whopping $250,000. Locals launched a GoFundMe campaign with the goal of raising $100,000. So far, it has raised just less than $8,000.
KOAT 7 reports that the owners have 14 days from the date of the notice issued on April 20 to respond, submit a structural engineer's report, acquire a building permit, take corrective action, and comply, all of which seems damn near impossible given the diner's inability to find the funds to fix the initial problems.
Vatoseow's family has owned Lindy's Diner since the 1970s. The diner, a campaign stop for many aspiring politicians, including presidential hopefuls, originally opened in 1929 under the name Coney Island Cafe.
According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, it was known as one of the longest operating diners on Route 66, with numerous movies and TV shows filmed there.
A shot designed to prevent deadly overdoses is now being tested in humans, offering a potential new tool in the fight against the opioid crisis.
Fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid, is responsible for tens of thousands of overdose deaths in the United States each year. Even small amounts can be lethal, and it’s often mixed into other drugs without a person’s knowledge.
Now, researchers are exploring whether a vaccine could stop fentanyl from ever reaching the brain.
From Personal Loss to Scientific Push
For some involved in the effort, the mission is personal.
After losing a close friend to an accidental overdose, one biotech executive helped push forward funding and development for a fentanyl vaccine now in early human trials. The goal: create something that could prevent tragedies before they happen, not just respond to them.
Collin Gage, CEO and director of ARMR Sciences, Inc., never imagined he’d lose his 22-year-old friend to an overdose. It was unintentional and deadly. This devastating loss and several others in his circle of friends inspired him to get involved in preventing overdoses. Naloxone (Narcan) can reverse many overdoses, but it must be given quickly and may require multiple doses in fentanyl cases.
“If I can prevent one person from dying, this will all be worth it,” Gage said in an interview with Men’s Journal.
Fentanyl overdoses reached a record high in 2022 and then began to wane, according to USA Facts, but with the emergence of stronger synthetic opioids mixed in with other street drugs, these improvements may be short-lived.
Gage is also a co-founder of Armour Families, a non-profit made up of people like him, who have lost loved ones to fentanyl, working to provide education and prevention strategies like this vaccine. They also work with legislators to create bills that will stop pill presses from being sold.
How the Vaccine Works
Unlike traditional treatments such as Narcan, which reverses an overdose after it happens, this vaccine is designed to prevent the drug from taking effect in the first place.
The shot works by training the immune system to produce antibodies that bind to fentanyl molecules in the bloodstream. This prevents the drug from crossing into the brain, where it triggers both the “high” and the life-threatening suppression of breathing.
In theory, this could reduce the risk of overdose and also blunt the drug’s addictive effects.
Clinical Trials are Underway
The vaccine is be effective in mice, according to research published in Molecular Pharmaceutics journal, and now human clinical trials are underway.
Gage raised more than $30 million in public and private funds to support clinical trials of a vaccine that can prevent a fentanyl overdose. The study endpoints are safety and efficacy.
The trial that he helped build recruited 72 volunteers with good overall health to take the fentanyl vaccine. Under medical surveillance, they plan to give participants a medical grade dose of fentanyl similar to what a person would get in a hospital setting to see if they can prevent respiratory depression.
The Vaccine is Adaptable
Drug cartels pivot to make stronger and stronger drugs and Gage says this vaccine can also adapt. The makers can replace the antigen with something that can meet the strength of these newer drugs. Fentanyl might be the drug of choice today, but these preferences change over time.
The Bottom Line
A fentanyl vaccine won’t solve the opioid crisis on its own. But if ongoing trials succeed, it could add something that’s been missing: a way to stop overdoses before they start. For a crisis that’s claimed so many lives, that kind of shift could matter.
Model Christie Brinkley issued a recent update on her ex-husband Billy Joel and his battle with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a chronic brain disorder.
NPH is characterized by the buildup of cerebrospinal fluid, which leads to pressure on the brain. The pressure causes gait problems, cognitive issues and urinary incontinence.
NPH is most common in people over 65. Joel, 76, revealed his diagnosis last May when he canceled all concerts up to early July 2026 as a result of the condition.
Despite battle, Joel 'doing very well'
Brinkley, 72, was married to Joel from 1985 and 1994 and shares a daughter, Alexa Ray, with the "Piano Man" singer. In an interview with HELLO! Magazine at the City Harvest 2026 Benefit Gala in New York City last Tuesday, Brinkley, said her former spouse was "doing very well."
She also discussed Alexa's performance of her father's song "This Night" at a Carnegie Hall benefit concert last month.
"She was so excited to be able to perform for him and I was sorry that I had to miss that night. I was out of town, but otherwise it was so wonderful," Brinkley explained.
Alexa Ray has made her love for father clear
Shortly after her father went public with his diagnosis, Alexa Ray Joel sent him a public message of support.
“We love you and we got you, Pop! I just wanted to thank you all for the beautiful outpouring of love and support amid the recent news of My Father’s health diagnosis,” she said at the time. “My Dad is the strongest and most resilient man I’ve ever known… and he’s entirely committed to making a full recovery with ongoing physical-therapy treatments as he continues to regain his strength.”
Prior to her Carnegie Hall appearance in March, Alexa Ray spoke with The Hollywood Reporterand issued an update on her dad.
“He’s lost weight as he’s on his diet,” she said. “I’m so proud of him. He’s such a trooper, so resilient and committed to being healthy and proactive. He’s a fighter.”
Sometimes, when games keep getting talked about with no release date, it discourages fans to the point that they think the game doesn't even exist anymore. We all know how we felt about Hollow Knight Silksong taking ages to become a reality. But when it did? One of the best games of 2025.
Now, Mina the Hollower looks to become the next highly anticipated indie game release that will live up to all the hype and make the long wait worth the trouble. Yacht Club Games announced that the retro, 8-bit adventure has gone gold, which means the development is over and release to the public is imminent.
https://ift.tt/FWw7e5U
When the trailer for the gameplay was released earlier this year, the company claimed that the game would come out in spring 2026. We're now right in the middle of the release window! It's looking like everything went according to plan since that announcement.
Yacht Club Games is the developer known for making the Shovel Knight series. Shovel Knight was an homage to all of the wonderful action/adventure/platforming classics of the 1980s on the NES. Now, Mina the Hollower looks to be more of a Legend of Zelda-type game in the vein of the GBA or even Game Boy Color titles fans loved during the same decade.
Gamers will play as the titular mouse, Mina, as she explores an island that has gone without electrical power. Mina will try to restart the generators that give the island energy, and lots of chaos ensues.
The game will fit right in on Switch and Switch 2, which have always been the ideal consoles for the best indie games on the market. Other gamers who don't own Nintendo's consoles can still enjoy this one, though. It will also come out on Windows, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles.
Mina the Hollower has been in development since 2022, when its Kickstarter campaign began. All things considered, four years in development for an indie game isn't all that bad. When a company has a reputation for making great games, though, everyone gets impatient to get their hands on the final product. That time looks to finally be here!
In the latest addition of country musicians to the Yellowstone universe, singer Morgan Wade will soon be making her way to the ranch.
Yellowstone: Dutton Ranch, per its official logline, follows Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), "grateful for the peace they sought, fought, and nearly died for with their 7,000-acre Dutton Ranch," the description reads (via People). "With tough times and stiff competition, Beth and Rip do what they must to survive, all while ensuring Carter becomes the man he's supposed to be."
Wade will play Carol, "a bartender at the local watering hole in Rio Paloma, Texas, who sees all," according to Deadline's exclusive report on the casting. The second Yellowstone spin-off after Marshals, in addition to prequel shows 1883 and 1913, Dutton Ranch will premiere on Paramount+ on May 15.
The country star is best known for her songs "Wilder Days" and "Take Me Away", and has toured with Chris Stapleton, Zach Bryan, Luke Combs, and Alanis Morissette. Bryan is also set to appear on the new series, alongside fellow musicians Isaac Hoskins, and Shane Smith & The Saints, according to Deadline. The inclusion of musicians as characters in the Yellowstone franchise is nothing new, with stars such as Ryan Bingham and Lainey Wilson appearing in the original series.
Wade will be joining Dutton Ranch's cast, including main actors Annette Bening, Jai Courtney, Ed Harris, Marc Menchaca, Natalie Alyn Lind, Juan Pablo Raba, J.R. Villarreal, in addition to Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, who are reprising their roles from the original Yellowstone series. Outside of the musical realm, fans of the reality TV series Real Housewives of Beverly Hills may recognize Morgan as a close friend and confidant of series legend Kyle Richards. Richards co-starred with Wade as her love interest in the music video for her single, "Fall in Love with Me."
On April 24, 1995 (or as they would say in the U.K., 24 April), legendary Britpop duo Oasis released "Some Might Say," the first single off their wildly popular album (What's the Story) Morning Glory?
That album birthed some of the Gallagher brothers' most popular songs, including "Don't Look Back In Anger," "Champagne Supernova," and of course, their biggest hit of all time, "Wonderwall" — the global anthem for white guys with acoustic guitars.
But "Some Might Say" paved the way for the massive success of the rest of the album — it was Liam and Noel Gallagher's first song to hit No. 1 in the U.K. In fact, it even debuted at No. 1, its first week on the charts also being its only week in the top position, as it slid to No. 2 a week later.
British music magazine Melody Makernamed it Single of the Week, calling it "Oasis' best yet." The reviewer wrote, "I'm utterly hooked on these hooks. This just climbs and climbs and then the way that note just hans there in the final crescendo and trails off, onward and upward, all the way to heaven... aahhh!!"
The Drama Behind the 'Some Might Say' Music Video
The music video for "Some Might Say" is an interesting one. It consists of footage from two of their other music videos, "Supersonic" and concert footage from "Cigarettes and Alcohol," all stylized in black and white.
As it turns out, there's a reason they didn't record an original music video. It's because Liam Gallagher didn't bother to show up to the video shoot.
Noel Gallagher explained the situation in an interview (via Far Out). "You’ll notice this video is an amalgam of other videos because ‘Elvis’ couldn’t be bothered turning up to the video shoot," he said, throwing cheeky shade at his brother. "We had all driven out to some motorway service station at eight in the morning to be met by someone saying, ‘Liam’s not coming because he doesn’t like the script.’”

When the miles start adding up each week, having a reliable pair of shorts is a must. There are too many variables at play when you gamble with running shorts: chafe factor, fit, comfort, the list goes on. Not all running shorts are created equal, and that’s exactly where compression shorts come into the equation. Research suggests that compression gear may help improve endurance markers like time to exhaustion, while also reducing muscle soreness and inflammation for runners.
Even if you’ve always stuck with classic dri-fit style shorts for your workouts, allow us to make the case for Wolaco’s Distance Half Tights. Named our top pick for compression in the 2026 Fitness Awards, they deliver a secure feel without restricting movement, come equipped with tons of thoughtfully placed pockets, and most importantly, help eliminate uncomfortable chafing. Read on for our full review.
Best Workout Shorts for Compression: Wolaco Distance Half Tight

Made with serious runs and hybrid training in mind, Wolaco’s Distance Half Tight is long enough to protect you from chafing and snug enough to stay in place for miles and miles. You can wear them under a pair of unlined shorts, but they also work on their own; not only are they made with moisture-wicking fabric, but they also have a built-in, tastefully named “modesty layer” for extra coverage.
What we love about these compression tights is that they don’t stop there. Two sweat-proof pockets—one on each side, positioned at different heights to match your preference—provide ample room for your phone and keys, and are secured with Velcro closures for peace of mind. Better yet, two stretchy, breathable back storage pockets allow you to stow sunglasses, gels, and other small items. And if you feel the need to pop your shirt off, a rear T-shirt loop offers dedicated storage for a tank or tee.

If you've ever been on an electric bike before, it's not hard to deduce that, for the most part, they're absolute behemoths. These models will generally net you better mileage, but they're hard to store and transport. Thankfully, foldable e-bikes are becoming more present in the market. Most are easier to load into a trunk and won't take up a ton of space at home. And, they usually cost a little bit less: There's a super compact one on sale for $200 at Walmart right now.
The Apyear 14-Inch 500W Folding Electric Bike is now one of the most affordable electric bikes at Walmart, often beating the competition by hundreds of dollars. Models like these are perfect for city commuters, road-trippers, and even just joy-riders, and they take up a marginal amount of space, comparatively.
Apyear 14-Inch 500W Folding Electric Bike, $200 (was $490) at Walmart
Full Size: 52 inches long by between 34 inches and 42 inches tall, depending on handlebar height.
Folded Size: 28 inches long by 23 inches tall
Range Per Charge: Approximately 20 miles
Top Speed: 15 MPH
Slope Ability: Can tackle 25% slopes.
Lights: Bright front light and red taillight.
Apyear’s 14-Inch 500W Folding Electric Bike is an advanced e-bike that can travel up to approximately 20 miles per charge. That approximation is affected by which of the three modes you're using: full electric for not breaking a sweat, full self-powered, and a hybrid mode where the bike helps out the rider’s manual peddling. The 500W engine powers up to about 15 MPH and can tackle 25% inclines. Night riders will enjoy a powerful LED at the front and a red taillight.
As odd as it may sound, however, this Apyear bike might actually improve in performance when it’s not in use. That’s because it folds down like some sort of futuristic gadget into an easily manageable 23-by-28-by-19 compact form.
The Apyear 14-Inch 500W Folding Electric Bike is an incredible $200 while this deal is ongoing. It’s one of the most affordable electric bikes you’ll be able to buy right now, so don’t miss the chance to get one.
Nothing can stop the Artemis program's trip to the Moon. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) came under fire following a report released by the Office of the Inspector General (OIG). NASA announced on Monday that it granted contracts "to Axiom Space and Collins Aerospace in 2022 to compete to provide next-generation spacesuits for Artemis lunar missions and ISS operations."
Delays in the Artemis Program
However, in 2024, NASA and the latter company came to a mutual agreement to remove its "task orders" due to an inability to meet the ISS's demonstration schedule. This leaves only Axiom with the task of fulfilling its contract for Artemis IV's scheduled lunar landing in 2028.
The OIG report stated that NASA's new spacesuit approach is the reason for "delays in the program." Space.com notes that ISS spacesuits are significantly out of date, making them unsuitable for Artemis astronauts and moonwalks. Said report revealed that the crewed Moon landing for Artemis IV could be postponed until 2031. It added that NASA struggled to create spacesuits for moonwalks, facing delays in the process, which OIG cited as the reason the agency couldn't meet the previous target for another Moon landing in 2024.
Very much appreciate the OIG work. As I posted months ago, NASA is not taking a passive role in any component of America’s return to the lunar surface and building a Moon base. We are reviewing where NASA can do better, how we can provide relief where appropriate to burdensome…
— NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman (@NASAAdmin) April 21, 2026
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman insisted in a post on X, following the OIG report on Monday, that the next-generation spacesuits will be ready for the Artemis IV lunar landing:
"I am confident that when NASA is ready to land on the moon in 2028, our astronauts will be wearing Axiom suits," Isaacman said, before adding that NASA will review "how we can provide relief where appropriate to burdensome requirements, [and] we can expand capabilities over time."
Artemis IV Will Explore the Lunar Surface in 2028
Axiom CEO Jonathan Cirtain responded to Space.com's query on Tuesday with this statement:
"We are working toward in-space, spacesuit evaluation demonstrations in 2027, [while] actively engaged with NASA. ... Our focus remains on delivering a safe, capable spacesuit that enables American astronauts to return to, and explore, the lunar surface in 2028."
Review of Axiom's new spacesuit is slated for later this year.

Merrell's Spring Hike Sale is now live. The sale, which runs through April 29, is filled with some of the brand's grittiest outdoor shoes as people begin to get outside for another season of exploring local trails. One of the biggest surprises is that the brand's Moab Speed 2 hiking shoe is still in stock in brown. Brown hiking shoes are usually the first to disappear, but if you hurry, you can get this one, which is also waterproof, for under $80.
The Merrell Moab Speed 2 Leather Waterproof Hiking Shoes are just $73 right now, a 58% discount off their normal price tag of $175 when you use the code EXTRA40 at checkout. Merrell truly crafted a solid pair of sporty-looking hikers here to complement its iconic Moab 3 shoe, the long-time focal point of the brand's lineup, seamlessly merging aesthetics with function.
These hikers balance agility with protection, which is why they’re a fan favorite. It pulls elements of hiking shoes and merges them with classic trail running shoes, and it comes topped with premium nubuck leather and synthetic overlays for added durability. One shoe weighs less than a pound, making the pair pretty lightweight and darn responsive—perfect for rugged trails and elevation changes.
This model uses a waterproof membrane rather than its Gore-Tex cousin, which means it does a solid job of sealing water out while remaining quite breathable, and makes it better for non-hiking activities. However, compared to the non-waterproof version, you get less airflow but better all-season versatility. Beyond that, this shoe has underfoot foam for excellent cushioning, and its flexplate tech boosts stability and torsion on rocky roads. Top it off with Vibram soles, and you’re ready to hit the trails.
Pushing nearly 100 five-star ratings, these hikers are picking up in terms of popularity, and rightfully so. One owner said that they were coming off a pair of Moab 2 lows, but felt these were a “definite upgrade in looks and comfort,” expressing that Merrell “hit the nail on the head” with the styling. They even said they were picking up another pair for casual wear.
Another called them an “attractive” pair of hiking shoes and said they were “very sturdy.” To them, they were equivalent to some of the expensive Lowa boots they have used over the years.
These waterproof leather Moab Speed 2s are likely going to sell out in some sizes—we've seen it happen before. Don't miss your chance to grab a pair while the price is low.
The Legend of Zelda is one of the truly, dare we say, legendary franchises in gaming history. It was only a matter of time before Nintendo decided to make a movie out of the story of Link and Zelda.
Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto is heavily involved in the project, one that the company has been slow to reveal details for. But now that principal photography wrapped last month and the film is coming out in just about a year (May 7, 2027), more and more little nuggets of information are being spoonfed to fans, whether intentionally or not!
We may have just gotten a sneak peek at what Link will look like in the film from Director of Photography Gyula Pados. The artwork with our favorite Hyrulian protagonist can be seen in the post below.
https://ift.tt/myoPBNb
The artwork maybe shouldn't have been posted online, as Pados deleted his post, but not before fans were able to capture it and repost it all over the internet.
It's vital for Nintendo to capture the essence of Link to make the movie feel authentic to the games instead of corny or contrived. This movie has been something that was hotly debated since it was first brainstormed in 2007 by Imagi Animation.
Now that Nintendo has proof that their characters can be popular in film because of the Super Mario Bros. movies, they think that The Legend of Zelda could follow suit.
Unknown actors will be playing Link and Zelda. Benjamin Evan AInsworth will portray Link, and Bo Bragason will portray Princess Zelda. They are both British and have been in bit roles in English television and film. Their lack of a big franchise role before now should make it easy for the fans to see these actors as the characters.
Whether the movie excites or lets us down, Nintendo's games resonate with the world. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has already made nearly $750 million as of this writing. The ability for Nintendo to appease both adults and children across several generations is what allows for the success across different mediums that they may not have fully anticipated in the past.
Written and directed by British filmmaker Cal McMau, Wasteman tells the story of two inmates in a low-security prison whose clashing approaches to incarceration cause nothing but pain for each other when they're forced to share a cell.
Taylor (David Jonsson) is nearing the end of his sentence, and looking forward to reconnecting with his young son on the outside. His new cellmate Dee (Tom Blyth) has other things on his mind: he's looking to climb the hierarchy of his new surroundings at any cost, and doesn't care who he hurts to keep himself afloat.
As Dee's reckless behavior starts to threaten Taylor's upcoming parole hearing, the two inmates struggle to live together in an institution that lacks the facilities to help them survive.
We had an exclusive opportunity to speak with Jonsson and Blyth about their work on the film, which was released in the United States on April 17, 2026.
Men's Journal: Tom, you're one of the scariest people I've ever seen in this film, and it's because your character feels so real and lived-in. As an actor, how do you strike that balance between being scary and also being somebody people can relate to?
Tom Blyth: Oh yeah, good question. It's something David and I spoke about really, really early on—not wanting this to feel like a quote-unquote 'Hollywood' version of this story. We all wanted to get on board and kind of bring that tone communally, but also individually as an actor, you look inward and you're like: "Okay, how can I make this character the real version?"
And for me it was honestly about going back to my youth. The minute I read [Dee] on the page, he reminded me of people I grew up with—people who I sidled up to so that I wasn't their enemy, but their friend. And those people are scary; a lot of the time they are charming, and they can disarm you.
There were moments where [Cal McMau] wanted the character to be way more imposing, and I was like: "No, I think this is a moment where he's a little more disarming." It was this constant balancing act to try and find that, and it took all of us.
MJ: Would you say the finished character is quite different to the one you originally saw on the page?
TB: Maybe the first draft I read, a year before coming on board, he was a bit more villainous—a bit of a brute. The writing process was incredible. As an actor you come on, and they've already gone through so many drafts, and so many versions of the charcter, and then you get to come and find more versions of the character. It's a big collaboration, but we found him eventually.
MJ: You're both highly trained in theater; do you think there's something about this fast-moving, almost real-time screenplay that appealed to your theater instincts?
David Jonsson: There is something about being ready at all times, and I think Tom and I are always ready. We shot in 18 days, and you weren't really allowed the luxury of things you might get on a bigger film set. The training tells you to be ready at all times; if you stay ready, you don't have to get ready.
TB: I think both of us, at the beginning, wished we had more time. We definitely came into it going like: "This is going to be quick, I wish we had more weeks of prep." But then you get into it, and you meet the challenge where it is. With this, I think we all came out the other end going: "Thank God we didn't have more time", because it really made it into a pressure cooker.
If we'd had more time, we might have stepped off the gas, or these characters might not have felt the pressure quite as much. But it's funny how challenges and boundaries become the thing that uplifts the work much of the time—if you're willing to meet it where it is, and not fight against it. Having a theater training allows you to do that because it keeps you light on your feet, but also grounded and responsive all the time.
MJ: A lot of Wasteman rides on the dynamic between your two characters. Could you talk a little about how you first met, and how you built this dynamic around which the film revolves?
DJ: Tom and I are good mates. We met through our agent who just thought we'd get on—and it turned out we did. We always wanted to work together, it was all about finding the right thing. We'd both read drafts of [Wasteman] before it was anywhere near getting made, and I think this was the one that we just knew was right.
Because you're friends with someone, it means that you trust them, and I think that trust is crucial to what we do. So when you have that level of trust with someone, it means that you can build on it and take risks. This film is a risk—not necessarily for us, it's just a risky film. Building that framework, that tapestry, came from our friendship and our willingness to do something special with the work.
TB: Yeah, totally. I think trust is a huge part of it. We couldn't have done this without being able to trust each other. Even down to the—spoiler alert, for the readers—the final fight scene between us with the projectile vomit. That takes trust, because you can't do that with someone you've just met that day.
MJ: I'd love to talk about the experience of working with Cal McMau, because you've both worked with some very big names in the past—but how does the experience differ when coming back and doing a smaller-budget debut film?
DJ: I love it, man, I really do. You never want to get too jaded in the world that we're offered. And listen, I love big films, but the sensibilities that inspired me to act came from these kinds of films. I think the scale of the films we've both done with Francis Lawrence, or the Alien franchise, is what brought my family to cinemas—but what inspired me as an actor was these films.
TB: That's such a good way to put it. You've got the films that made you want to be an actor, and you've got the films that made you and your family grab a bucket of popcorn and watch a movie.
MJ: I also read about a rehabilitation charity that you worked with while shooting Wasteman—could you talk a little about their role in bringing this environment to life?
DJ: Yeah, we worked with a charity called Switchback. They help prison-leavers come back into everyday life, which is kind of crazy because there aren't many charities like them. You're locked away for a certain amount of time, then the doors open and you come back to normal life. It's a massive transition, and they do a really good job of helping people find what life is again.
They weren't just our consultants, they were like our co-stars. About 50% of our cast is prison-leavers, so they help ground the film in every sense of the word. I got a lot from them, I think we both did. They were fundamental in making the movie, and we couldn't thank them enough.
MJ: Since you two know each other very well, and you've clearly spent a lot of time together since making this film, is there something that you've both learned from each other through this process?
DJ: I've learned that Tom doesn't like prawn cocktail!
TB: I like the crisps, but I don't like a prawn cocktail. [Laughs] In all seriousness, David brings so much grace to everything he does; a lot of humility, but also the ambition of someone who's going to have one of the greatest acting careers of all time. The fact that he can do both is incredible, so I try and emulate that in what I do. It was like jazz, we got to make jazz together for a few weeks, which was really cool.
DJ: Okay hang on, hang on, that's not fair. [Laughs] Listen, the thing about Tom is that he truly is a special human being. Making this movie, I think it's going to be one of the most important things I've done. Not only because of the film, but also because you catch people in certain moments, and I think we both caught each other in a special moment. I really, really adore the work that we got to do together, and a lot of that is because of Tom. He's truly special.

You might be spending more time indoors with the air conditioner this summer. The Old Farmer's Almanacjust released its weather predictions for Summer 2026. The verdict? Much of North America is in for a hot summer. Those in the United States and Canada can expect hotter-than-normal temperatures, especially in the eastern and southern parts of the former. The US should also expect widespread dryness across several regions.
The Old Farmer's Almanac also predicts that states like Texas, Nevada, Utah, and New Mexico should brace themselves for a hot and rainy summer, with Northern Ohio and the southern parts of Georgia and Alabama subjected to the same conditions.
That said, The Old Farmer's Almanac reports that rainfall is less predictable in the warmer months, but they "lean drier overall." Regions like the East, High Plains, and the interior West could see "below-normal precipitation."
Per the forecast, the Upper Midwest and the Heartland could also experience more mixed patterns or cooler-than-normal temperatures this summer, with the Heartland and portions of the Pacific Northwest showing a blend of wet and dry weather.
Prepare to face above-average temperatures for much of the summer, with periods of extended heat possible for the majority of the US. The monthly culprits are the usual suspects – July and August.
Make sure you stay hydrated, keep your furry friends indoors for as long as possible, and update the contents of your emergency disaster kit should a power outage arise. You should also have an updated first-aid kit on hand and discuss heat safety precautions with your household.
Other preventative measures you can take to stay cool in a dangerously hot summer include upgrading your windows and weather stripping, along with ensuring your blinds remain closed to keep sunlight and heat out.
The "King of Pop" released a chart-topping single on this day 38 years ago. Michael Jackson was already seven studio albums into his career in 1988, but he was, without question, on top of the world. Released on Aug. 31, 1987, Bad, Jackson's seventh record, was his last collaboration with the legendary producer Quincy Jones, and it gave birth to "Dirty Diana." Musically, the track is more hard rock, in the same vein as "Beat It" from 1982's Thriller.
"Dirty Diana" was the fifth single from Bad, which is one of the best-selling albums of all time. Initially, it was widely believed to poke fun at Jackson's close friend Diana Ross, but this was debunked, with Jackson and Jones clarifying that the song was about groupies. Ross playfully used the song as an overture during her concerts.
In an interview with broadcast journalist Barbara Walters, Jackson also confirmed that the track wasn't about Diana, Princess of Wales. However, the princess told him that it was her favorite tune of his.
The 1988 single eventually catapulted to the No. 1 spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 on July 2, after nine weeks on the chart. It also ranked within the top 10 and top 20 charts worldwide. It marked Jackson's tenth number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "Dirty Diana" was also the multi-hyphenate's fifth consecutive number-one single. The tune achieved Platinum certification in five countries, including the US, while hitting Gold in Germany.
Critically, the song received mixed reviews despite its commercial success. Music critic Robert Christgau lambasted "Dirty Diana" as "misogynistic," while another reviewer deemed it a "confused, lumbering slog of a song." However, Davitt Sigerson of Rolling Stone remarked that songs like "Dirty Diana" and "Speed Demon" made Bad "richer, sexier, [and] better than Thriller's forgettables."
6-7 isn't just for the classroom anymore. Now you can find the popular meme in the frozen aisle. Perdue Farms, one of the largest meat processing companies in the United States, is cooking up new chicken nuggets in the shape of sixes and sevens.
Why? Who cares? Even Perdue itself is poking fun at the release of its latest impulsive project. "Yes, the kids who started it may have moved on," begins a press release on Perdue Farms's corporate website, "but if you have a Gen Alpha at home, you know: it's still everywhere."
Unlike the innocuous yet otherwise irritating phrase, the chicken nuggets won't be everywhere. Perdue is partnering with Walmart for an exclusive limited edition release that is set to hit select shelves May 1.
Perdue Farms
“We figured if it was going to show up at mealtime anyway, it might as well be on the plate," said SVP of Digital & E-Commerce Marketing Chris Perdue, "and if it happens to buy you six to seven minutes of sweet silence at the dinner table, we’ll take that as a win.”
The conversation starter chicken nuggets will be available at a suggested retail price of $7.24 in 3,000 Walmart stores around the country. Like its traditionally-shaped nuggets, the 6-7 variety will be panko-breaded and made with 100% all-natural white meat chicken.
Perhaps fortunately for some parents, the Perdue press release says that the "cringe" marketing move will occur only "while supplies last." Only a limited amount of bags will be provided to participating retailers at this time.
The Maryland-based company is giving away 67 bags before the product hits shelves in a few weeks. Fans of the brand can enter to win a free bag of 67 nuggets until April 27.
Fans of Arc'teryx know that finding a deal on the brand's premium outerwear isn't a common occurrence, but occasionally, lightning strikes at REI. Over the past month, REI has served up great deals on Arc’teryx pieces like the Beta and Atom jackets. Most recently, the Delta Pullover Hoody turned heads as a hand-picked Outlet deal, and it sold out. Now, the full-zip version is getting the discount treatment.
The Arc’teryx Delta Hoody is on sale for $132, a monumental 40% discount from its normal price of $220 and a better deal than what both Arc’teryx and Zappos are offering, though the latter has it for 30% off. It’s available at that price in the high-vis Olive Moss/Euphoria colorway, with a full size range in stock, while the light gray Solitude/Void and Stone Green colors are marked at 20% off on a separate page. It’s exceedingly rare to find an Arc’teryx jacket on sale with all sizes still available at this substantial a discount—they usually sell out instantly.
Best For: High-intensity activities like climbing or running
The Delta Hoody is part of Arc’teryx’s Delta line of lightweight fleeces. It features an attached hood, unlike the Delta Jacket, which is hoodless, and a full-zip design, which distinguishes it from the zipperless Delta Pullover. The full-zip plus hood layout makes it useful in a variety of ways. You can wear it as a mid-layer, as reviewers point out, but the full-zip closure makes it easy to get on and off, and the hood offers more protection when you wear the jacket on its own.
The Hoody is made from Arc’teryx’s 100% polyester Octa fleece, which features hollow fibers that trap heat and keep you warm. This layer is optimized for high-intensity activities: The fabric breathes well, and it’s treated with a silver chloride anti-odor treatment to ward off smells from sweat. The zippered opening also allows you to open up the jacket for extra ventilation when you need it.
Compared to older Delta layers, this hoodie has a roomier fit in the body and sleeves for good freedom of movement, and its elasticized cuffs and hem keep it from looking slouchy or feeling drafty. The low-profile hood is designed to fit underneath a helmet (great for climbing or cycling), and the flatlock seam construction reduces bulk and creates a smooth, irritation-free feel inside the jacket.
Shoppers love the Delta Hoody’s versatility, calling it “a great mid-layer” that’s “breathable but keeps you warm” and also “looks great” when worn on its own in milder weather. The fleece fabric makes it exceptionally comfortable, shoppers reported, and that also makes it a great pick for casual wear, too—you won’t want to save it exclusively for trail days.
The Delta Hoody is going fast, and multiple sizes are almost completely sold out at REI. Take advantage of this sweet 40% discount and grab yours today before they’re all gone.
