Nintendo has shared an update on the highly anticipated Switch 2 console. On April 2, the company confirmed that the new console will be released on June 5 with pre-orders beginning on April 9 on the official Nintendo website.
The Switch 2 will cost $449.99 just for the console. Nintendo also added a bundle option, which will include the latest Mario Kart game "Mario Kart World" and will run gamers $499.99. The company also announced that various Switch accessories — like a pro controller — will also be available for purchase in June.
Fans have had mixed reactions on the price point of the new console, some pointing out that it's the same price as the PS5.
Nintendo shared an extended look at game play for "Mario Kart World" during a stream.
"A brand new entry in the Mario Kart series is launching exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 system. Welcome to this vast world," Nintendo said. "Kart races are held throughout various regions that span the globe. Depending on the time of day and weather conditions, the atmosphere will change."
The Nintendo Switch 2 will have some new features, including brand new Joy-Con 2 controllers. A new button has been added to one of the controllers and is marked with a "C." This is for Game Chat — allowing players to talk with other players during game play. Anyone using the feature will need to have an online membership with Nintendo. However, Nintendo is offering the feature without a membership through March 2026.
The new Nintendo Switch 2 has 256GB of internal storage. The new dock has 4K resolution compatibility, which will make it a breeze when connecting to a television.
