'The Invite' HBO Max Release Window Confirmed

Olivia Wilde, Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton invite you to spend time with them at a very special dinner party later this year, thanks to HBO Max.

The Invite, the A24 sex comedy based on the Spanish film The People Upstairs, only received a limited theatrical release, but scored an impressive $55 million box office run, following its premiere back in June this year.

Directed by Wilde, the filmmaker behind Booksmart (2019) and Don’t Worry Darling (2022) and features a small, but all-star cast. “Joe and Angela’s marriage is on thin ice,” A24’s official logline teases. “When they invite their enigmatic upstairs neighbors for a dinner party, the night spirals into unexpected places. Have they reignited the spark or lit the match that burns it all down?”

‘The Invite’ HBO Max Release Window and Likely Streaming Date, Explained

HBO and HBO Max are owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, which has a “Pay-1” rights deal with A24. The terms of the agreement, which was renewed earlier this year, state that the studio’s films will automatically go to HBO Max as their streaming home after their theatrical and PVOD (Premium Video on Demand) release windows have ended (per The Hollywood Reporter).

Going from the history of the deal, the theatrical-streaming window for HBO and A24 under the Pay-1 deal is roughly 119 days, which is around 17 weeks, or 4 months. Another A24 hit, Backrooms, arrived on HBO Max on September 25 — exactly 119 days after its U.S. theatrical debut, proving the rule to be true, even for the more successful releases from the studio.

If we do a little math here, the U.S. theatrical premiere of The Invite on June 26 places the film on course to arrive on HBO Max by Friday, October 23, 2026,— give or take a few days, but in good time for the upcoming holidays. This window may shift slightly, but historically, 119 days has proven precedent for A24 films on HBO Max (formerly Max).

The Miami Dolphins Ride the Backup Quarterback Carousel

As the clock ticks down to the 6 pm EST deadline to have rosters at 53 men, Miami has started off the day in an unexpected way. First, they traded quarterback Quinn Ewers to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round pick. 

Ewers came into camp as the presumed backup quarterback behind Malik Willis but struggled in camp and the preseason. From starting multiple games last season to being traded, that kind of move sends a message to the team: if you aren’t good enough, we’ll find someone who is.

After trading Ewers, the team waived Cam Miller. Miller had a pretty bad preseason, going 16 of 38 for 170 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception. He just wasn’t good enough to count on should Malik Willis go down. 

So Miami turned to a familiar team to shore up their depth chart. Miami made a trade with the Green Bay Packers to obtain quarterback Kyle McCord for a 2028 sixth-round pick. It is almost like they traded Ewers for McCord. 

McCord was a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft. He spent 2025 on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad before being signed by the Packers this offseason. He was impressive for Green Bay this preseason, posting a stat line of 46 of 70 for 446 yards and four touchdowns. That was good enough to impress the Dolphins, who will likely name him their second-string quarterback before the season opener. 

So what is the big takeaway from Miami riding the QB carousel so late in the offseason? I think it shows the new regime is unafraid to make the move they think is right, no matter what. It would have been easy to go into the season with backups you aren’t happy about, since this is likely going to be a season spent tanking. 

However, with this move, Miami has shown it’s committed to competing as best it can, and it clearly thinks McCord will help in that regard. The start of the offseason involved getting veteran contributors new extensions, showing that the new regime will reward players, whereas today’s moves show that poor performance can get you shipped out of town. We’ll have to see if this inspires the remaining players to play hard as the season progresses.

New United Airlines Plane Starts Flying In September — See Its Routes

United Airlines is rolling out its Airbus A321XLR on select United States domestic flights starting in September. This new model is a long-range aircraft that is designed especially for longer flights. At some point in 2027, this Airbus will be used for international flights.

The first XLR flight will depart from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and land in San Diego International Airport (SAN) on Sept. 9, per reporting from The Points Guy. On Oct. 1, another XLR flight is scheduled from Dulles to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

There are 20 lie-flat Polaris business-class suites in the front of the plane in a 1-1 layout. Premium economy includes 12 Premium Plus recliners in a 2-2 layout. The 32 total premium seats are 16 more than the Boeing 757-200, according to a United AIrlines press release.

The back of the Airbus includes 34 Economy Plus seats in a 3-3 layout, excluding four seats where the middle seat is blocked, and 84 seats in standard economy. Perhaps most enticing for travelers who enjoy their complimentary amenities, there’s a snack bar in the rear of the plane.

Starting next year, likely in the summer but as soon as March, United will begin flying to 10 international cities it had not previously traveled to. These flights include a direct from San Francisco to Okinawa, Japan, and Washington Dulles to Toulouse, France. Additionally, there will be flights out of Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Luxembourg; Slovenia; Sardinia, Italy; Ibiza, Spain; Valencia, Spain; Marseille, France; and Terceira, Portugal.

United’s senior vice president of global network planning and alliances Patrick Quayle told reporters (per Fox Business) that there were “a few teething issues” with the A321XLR international program. Quayle added, “We feel confident that we will have the number of aircraft needed in order to operate the schedule.”

Why Isn't Jannik Sinner Playing at the U.S. Open in 2026?

For a time, it appeared that Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz were forming a historic rivalry in men’s professional tennis. However, for months, due to injuries, they haven’t been on the court at the same time.

Alcaraz missed the French Open and Wimbledon with an injury, and now Sinner isn’t playing in the U.S. Open, he confirmed in a post on Instagram. That has shaken up the tournament, as he was a favorite to win the Grand Slam, along with Alcaraz, who is returning to the court for the first time since April.

“I missed you guys 🥹,” Alcaraz wrote on Instagram. However, fans won’t get to see him play Sinner, at least not this time.

According to the U.S. Open, Alcaraz confirmed he would play just hours before Sinner announced that he was out. Alcaraz injured his wrist at the Barcelona Open, and that kept him on the sidelines for months.

Alcaraz teamed up with tennis legend Serena Williams in mixed doubles competition, but they lost in the quarterfinals. “I’m playing next to the one and only Serena Williams, so what else could you do? Just enjoy… Trying to do the things she told me to do,” Alcaraz said, according to People.

Sinner announced his withdrawal in an Instagram post a few days before the tournament started.

We have been back on court in Monte Carlo over the last couple of days and have realised that I still need more time to recover from my right knee issue,” Sinner posted on Instagram.

“I’m obviously very sad and disappointed, as New York has a special place in my heart. I was very much looking forward to coming back and playing in the electric atmosphere in front of the great fans there, ❤️” he added.

Lauren Gregory and Frédéric Tranchand Claim Victory at UTMB’s 2026 OCC in Chamonix

It’s UTMB race week in Chamonix, France, and some of the biggest names in trail running are back and faster than ever. While the main event (the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc) doesn’t start until Friday evening, the action is already well underway.

That includes the OCC (Orsières–Champex–Chamonix). Representing the route from Switzerland to France, it may be the shortest of the three UTMB World Series Finals, but it’s easily one of the most punishing. The 60-kilometer course packs in a massive 3,500 meters of elevation gain, starting in Orsières, winding through the Swiss mountains, and crossing into France toward that famous finish line in Chamonix. Yesterday, runners officially crossed that line with massive crowds cheering them home to the soundtrack of ringing cowbells and blaring horns.

After bad weather forced organizers onto a backup course last year, this year’s route came with a few key tweaks. Stretching across 60 kilometers, the latest iteration matched the length of last year’s event, adding extra distance compared to 2024’s 57-kilometer track and the traditional 55-kilometer loop used for most of the race’s history.

34 Years Later, Tim Curry's Greatest Role Might Be the One He Never Played

The beloved and wonderful actor Tim Curry has sadly passed away at the age of 80. Known for countless roles across a variety of film genres, including IT, Legend, Clue, and of course, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the genius and wit of Curry will never truly fade away. But, among his many performances, there’s one that has oddly be lost to time, mostly because it never really happened.

Today, many fans of DC superheroes and Batman in specific will cite the 1992 show Batman: The Animated Series as a high point in pop culture history. And, as any Bat-fan can tell you, Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, voiced the Joker throughout Batman: The Animated Series.

That is, at least in our universe. In another timeline, the first choice to play the Joker, Tim Curry, would have stuck. That’s right, Curry was the original 1992 Joker, and his terrifying performance has survived to this day. As wonderful as Hamill was in the role, it’s hard not to look back on this moment and wonder if Curry’s version of the Joker isn’t the most terrifying and strange of all time.

While the details as to why Curry was replaced on Batman: The Animated Series remain somewhat disputed. But in the 2021 documentary film Stay ‘Tooned! Presents – Batman: The Animated Series, producer Eric Radmoski and Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy talked about what made Curry’s take on the Joker so distinct and memorable.

“We didn’t want the Joker to be a bumbling, goofy, idiot…and the dark side was completely second nature to Tim,” Radmoski recalled in the documentary.

“He was terrifying, and like, lock up the children and don’t let them watch,” Conroy said. “Tim was just a little like a horror movie…crazy scary.”

Generally, it seems that the production team of Batman: The Animated Series went in another direction because, in a sense, Curry was too good at his job. As Radmoski said in Phil Machi’s documentary: “I don’t think we fully knew what the balance of that character should be.”

It’s also possible that Tim Curry’s performance inspired what Mark Hamill did with the character, at least according to one of the directors on the series. “Mark did make it his own,” director Dan Riba said in the same documentary. “But on the first couple [of episodes] he’s kind of like doing his take on what Tim had done.”

Even though he didn’t end up playing the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, Curry did return to a few more DC projects over the years. He played the voice of Mutro Botha in Batman Beyond, a sci-fi sequel to Batman: The Animated Series, and later played G. Gordon Godfrey in the animated show Young Justice.

Known for his incredible voice and theatrical style, Curry will be missed. But you can’t help but wonder if perhaps one of his best roles was the one he never fully was allowed to embody.

Target Pulls Children's Halloween Costume After Uproar

Target has pulled a controversial children’s Halloween costume after critics accused it of being racist. In addition, the retail chain has apologized.

According to Reuters, the markets quickly reacted, and Target’s shares fell by about 5% after the retailer apologized for the Halloween costume that was “criticized for evoking Blackface and minstrel shows.”

The costume was marketed as “Kids’ Glows Under Blacklight Circus Clown Halloween Costume,” and it “showed a Black child model in an orange and black outfit, with a mask featuring an exaggerated smile and mini top hat,” according to NBC Chicago, which added that it was widely derided as racist.

Some customers weren’t satisfied with the apology. “How do designs like this keep making it all the way to shelves???” a person wrote on X.

Target Admitted the Costume Was Offensive in Its Apology

Target posted an apology on its website, calling the costume offensive.

“As a company, we know we got this wrong, and we are deeply sorry. The costume is offensive and should never have been part of our assortment. It is no longer available for sale,” Target wrote.

“We know this is especially hurtful for our Black guests, team members and partners. Removing the costume is an important first step, and the company is looking closely at how this happened and what needs to change to ensure this won’t happen again.”

Target has found itself the focal point of numerous controversies in recent years.

Added another woman, “Nothing could’ve prepared me for the costume they were referring to. blackface in the year of 2026? how did this even get approved.”

Legendary Actor Remade 1960 Steve McQueen Classic, And It Had One of the Biggest Western Openings Ever

Legendary actor Denzel Washington led a modern remake of a classic Western that once starred Hollywood icons Steve McQueen and Yul Brynner.

The Magnificent Seven, directed by Antoine Fuqua, reimagined John Sturges’ 1960 Western of the same name. The original starred Brynner, McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn and Eli Wallach.

The classic was included among Town & Country’s picks for the greatest Western movies ever made. It adapted Japanese director Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai but reworked its story for the American Old West.

The original film’s production became known for tension between Brynner and McQueen. Brynner was already famous at the time, while McQueen was still building the career that would eventually make him one of Hollywood’s biggest names.

During filming, McQueen reportedly became frustrated with having less dialogue than Brynner and competed for attention. The movie struggled in North American theaters, but it became a commercial success overseas, especially in Europe.

The film’s success led to three sequels and eventually a remake. More than five decades later, the story returned to theaters in a modern adaptation.

Legendary Actor Denzel Washington Leads Remake of Steve McQueen Classic to Historic Box Office Heights

The 2016 film follows the residents of a small farming town called Rose Creek, who face destruction from a ruthless mining industrialist named Bartholomew Bogue, played by Peter Sarsgaard.

Led by vengeful widow Emma Cullen, played by Haley Bennett, the townspeople recruit seven outlaws and mercenaries to defend their community. Washington stars as Sam Chisolm, a warrant officer and bounty hunter whom Cullen hires to lead the group. He then recruits gambler and gunfighter Josh Faraday, portrayed by Chris Pratt.

The group also includes Civil War sharpshooter Goodnight Robicheaux, portrayed by Ethan Hawke. His loyal companion, Billy Rocks, is a skilled assassin played by Lee Byung-hun.

Vincent D’Onofrio plays eccentric mountain man Jack Horne, while Manuel Garcia-Rulfo portrays Mexican outlaw Vasquez. Martin Sensmeier plays Red Harvest, a Comanche warrior who completes the group. Together, the seven gunfighters prepare to defend Rose Creek against Bogue and his forces.

The $90 million remake made a strong debut when it opened in North American theaters in September 2016. The film earned $35 million during its opening weekend and ranked No. 1 at the domestic box office.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the $35 million debut was among the top Western openings of all time. The film went on to gross $93.4 million domestically and $162.3 million worldwide. 

Former Sony worldwide president of marketing and distribution Josh Greenstein credited Washington and Pratt’s star power as part of the film’s appeal.

“It’s great to have a movie with Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt in it. They are proven stars and just so winning, especially together,” Greenstein told the entertainment outlet.

On this day 37 years ago, legendary MLB pitcher Nolan Ryan reached a milestone that may never be broken again.

The date was August 22, 1989, when Ryan notched the 5,000th strikeout of his Hall of Fame career while pitching for the Texas Rangers. Ryan struck out another MLB legend, the late Rickey Henderson, on a 96 mph fastball to obtain this milestone.

Ryan finished his career with 5,714 strikeouts and still holds the all-time record to this day. Fellow Hall of Fame pitcher Randy Johnson is in second-place with 4,875 strikeouts.

The highest strikeout total by an active pitcher in MLB is Detroit Tigers starter Justin Verlander, who has 3,554 (eighth all-time). However, Verlander will not beat Ryan’s record given he is set to retire after the 2026 baseball season.

Beyond Verlander, Toronto Blue Jays starter Max Scherzer has 3,521 strikeouts, which is good for 10th on the all-time list. That said, Scherzer is 42-years-old, meaning his career is also nearing an end.

Several decades later, Ryan’s record remains and likely won’t be broken anytime soon if ever.

Atlanta Braves starter Chris Sale is the next closest active pitcher on the list with 2,745 strikeouts. Sale is 37-years-old and in his 16th MLB season.

Ryan’s Hall of Fame Career

Ryan began his career in 1966 with the New York Mets. Although he helped them win the World Series in 1969, the Mets infamously traded him to the then California Angels in December of 1971.

The right-handed pitcher went on to become an eight-time All-Star, 11-time strikeout leader, two-time National League ERA leader and toss seven no-hitters. Ryan has his number retired by the Angels, Houston Astros and Texas Rangers. He is also in the Hall of Fame for the Angels, Astros and Rangers and a part of MLB’s All-Century Team.

Ryan retired from MLB after the 1993 season. He was inducted into Cooperstown in 1999 as a first ballot Hall of Famer. Ryan is tied for the MLB record of 27 seasons played with Adrian Constantine Anson, who was nicknamed “Cap.”

Not only does Ryan have the most seasons played record, his 5,714 strikeout record may never be broken. He achieved this impressive milestone on this date in 1989.

24 Years of the NFC South: Breaking Down the Most Entertaining Division in Football

The NFC South was created in 2002 when the league realigned after adding the Houston Texans. Since then, it has been one of football’s more entertaining divisions. We’ve seen teams finish in last place one year and win the division the next; in fact, that happened every year from 2002-2007. 

The team that has won the NFC South the least is the Atlanta Falcons. They have won four division titles, with their first in 2004 and their most recent in 2016. They have made the playoffs 8 times and appeared in one Super Bowl. Though I suspect Falcons’ fans would rather forget their Super Bowl LI experience. 

The Carolina Panthers are in third place with 6 division championships. They have also made the playoffs 8 times since realignment. They have two Super Bowl appearances: Super Bowl XXVIII, which they lost to the New England Patriots 32-29, and Super Bowl 50, which they lost 24-10 after being the league’s most dominant team during the regular season. 

The New Orleans Saints are tied for the most division wins with 7; they lead the division in playoff berths with nine. They have made one Super Bowl, that being XLIV, where they defeated the Indianapolis Colts 31-17.

Tied for first with New Orleans is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have also won the division 7 times while making the playoffs eight times. They have won the Super Bowl twice, first with a dominant defensive performance against the Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII, where they defeated the Oakland Raiders 48-21. Then they were led by Tom Brady, who was scorned after parting ways with the Patriots, helping Tampa Bay best the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 in Super Bowl LV. 

The NFC South is my favorite division to watch because I never know what will happen. Tampa Bay had won the division every season from 2020-2024, but the Carolina Panthers usurped them last season. However, it wasn’t like the Panthers had an amazing season; they only went 8-9, the same record as the Buccaneers and Falcons, winning on tiebreakers. 

If I had to predict who will win this season, I would have to go with the Panthers to repeat. However, I believe Saints quarterback Tyler Shough could make New Orleans a dark horse. The more I think about it, though, maybe Baker Mayfield will have a chip on his shoulder and ball out, or even Tua Tagovailoa could resurrect his career in Atlanta. Whatever happens, I’m sure it will make for another entertaining season in the NFC South.

In 1966, Harrison Ford Made His Film Debut, Then Studio Wanted Him to Make a Major Change

Harrison Ford made his film debut in 1966, playing a small role as a bellboy. The film, Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round, was a heist comedy starring James Coburn.

It wasn’t a memorable film, but it was where it all began for Ford. Despite the milestone, the studio wasn’t convinced he was cut out for the industry.

“I was under contract to Columbia Pictures at the time for $150 a week,” he told Variety. “And all the respect that that implies. I was called into the office of the head of the new talent program, and he told me that I had no future in the business. Which was OK.”

The same executive then made an unusual request, an idea he flatly refused.

“And then he asked me to get my hair cut like Elvis Presley,” he recalled. “That I didn’t go along with.”

The exchange became one of the more memorable footnotes of Ford’s early career.

Why a Studio Executive Tried to Change Harrison Ford’s Name

The studio had more than Ford’s hairstyle on its mind. An executive also felt his real name needed to go. 

“He thought that ‘Harrison Ford’ was too pretentious a name for a young man,” he told Variety. 

At the time, studios routinely renamed young talent to fit a more marketable image. Columbia clearly hoped to apply that same formula to Ford early in his career.

Ford ultimately refused to act on it. He kept his name exactly as it was, despite the studio’s doubts.

That decision turned out to matter more than anyone could have predicted. Ford went on to build one of the most recognizable names in Hollywood history.

Meanwhile, Ford crossed paths with the same executive years later, who owned up to his mistake. 

“I met him later, across a crowded dining room,” he recalled. “He sent me a card on which he’d written, ‘I missed my guess.’ I looked around, couldn’t remember which one he was, but then he nodded at me and smiled, and I thought, ‘Oh yeah, I know you.'”

Ford has since starred in the Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Blade Runner series. Across his career, Ford has grossed more than $12 billion worldwide at the box office.

The name that Columbia once wanted to drop eventually became one of the most recognizable in Hollywood. Decades later, “Harrison Ford” needs no introduction at all.

New Winter Precipitation Map Just Released Points to Heavier Snow and Rain Across Dozens of States

The National Weather Service just released a weather map for the upcoming winter months. Based on the currently known conditions, the still-early findings point to dozens of states across America facing heavier snow and rain during the 2026-2027 winter season.

Typically on the third Thursday of each month, the National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center publishes the latest version of its Seasonal Precipitation Outlook Map. On August 20, 2026, the agency published a new map detailing the precipitation probabilities across the United States for the months of January, February, and March of 2027.

It is important to note that the map was published months in advance, and conditions could certainly change. Still, the new map points to above-average precipitation throughout early 2027. It does not provide any details on whether to expect heavier snowfall or rain across the affected states.

The lighter green regions of the map indicate a 33 to 50% probable chance of above-average precipitation, while the darker green areas indicate a higher than 50% likelihood. Based on the new map, current conditions are pointing to several states leaning toward or likely facing heavier precipitation in early 2027:

The West Coast & Southwest: California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, parts of Oregon, Idaho, and Utah

The South & Southeast: Texas, Louisiana, Florida, South Carolina, parts of Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina

The Central & Mid-South: Parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Tennessee

The Northeast & Mid-Atlantic: Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Massachusetts, Washington D.C., Parts of Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine

The North: A small part of Alaska

On the other hand, there are some states that are leaning toward below-normal rain and snow in early 2027. The light brown areas of the map indicate a 33 to 50% probable chance of below-average precipitation in early 2027. They include parts of Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Additionally, most of Alaska could also see below-average levels of snow and rain.

Currently, the rest of the states fall in the “equal chances” region, which means the models don’t indicate whether they will face average, above-, or below-normal levels of snow and rain.

Comparing this month’s map to the Climate Prediction Center’s Seasonal Precipitation Outlook Map that was published on July 16, 2026, shows that things have changed. Most obviously, the brown area of the map has shrunk significantly outside of Alaska, where it expanded.

While the green area of the map has shrunk in a handful of states, it has overall expanded to cover much more of the country. The conditions could still change, but that indicates that heavier snow and rain falling in the upcoming winter season are becoming more probable as the year progresses.

2015 Film, Starring Tom Hardy, Named the Greatest Action Movie of All Time

There aren’t many movies that can make the case for being the greatest action film ever made without leaning on a superhero, a massive franchise, or a familiar ’80s action star. Mad Max: Fury Road somehow does it with a two-hour chase through the desert, and with the two big H’s: Hardy and Horsepower.

The 2015 film, starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, has now been named the greatest action movie of all time by StudioBinder, which placed it at No. 1 on its newly published ranking of the 50 best action movies ever made.

That’s a pretty bold choice considering the competition. The list includes Die Hard, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Empire Strikes Back, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, The Dark Knight, The Matrix, Aliens, and Heat, among countless other action classics.

Directed by George Miller, Mad Max: Fury Road drops viewers into a post-apocalyptic wasteland where water is scarce and power belongs to whoever controls it.

Hardy plays Max Rockatansky, a drifter who becomes caught up with Imperator Furiosa, played by Theron, as she attempts to escape the tyrannical Immortan Joe with a group of women he’s holding captive.

The movie doesn’t waste much time getting started.

Once Max and Furiosa’s paths cross, the story becomes an enormous, frequently chaotic pursuit across the desert, filled with explosions, crashes, motorcycles, massive trucks, and some of the most elaborate stunt work Hollywood had produced in years.

The approach gives the action a weight that can sometimes be missing from heavily computer-generated sequences. There’s a real sense that these vehicles are moving, crashing, flipping, and colliding in the same physical space as the characters.

10 Years Later, ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Still Holds Up

More than a decade after its release, Mad Max: Fury Road remains one of the rare action movies that can satisfy both people looking for a spectacular blockbuster and viewers interested in the craft behind it.

It’s loud, fast, strange, visually stunning, and almost absurdly ambitious. The entire movie is an edge-of-your-seat car chase, and that’s precisely what makes it stand out among other action giants.
