On April 7, Meredith Gaudreau announced that she gave birth to a baby boy named Carter Michael Gaudreau. The baby was born about seven months after Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew Gaudreau, were struck and killed by a drunk driver while riding their bicycles in New Jersey.
"I had our third baby! 4/1/25," Meredith Gaudreau captioned an Instagram post. "Another baby boy. Carter Michael Gaudreau - same middle name as his daddy. 8lb 3 ounces, 20.5 inches - exact same as his daddy. He looks exactly like his daddy too."
"I love you so much my baby! We are going to have so much fun. I can’t wait to give you the best life, my special boy forever," she added.
Dozens of people took to the comments section to react to the baby news, including Florida Panthers forward, Matthew Tkachuk.
"Johnnys twin," he commented on the post, adding three red heart emoji.
Tkachuk isn't the only person who picked up on the baby's likeness to his late father.
"He looks just like him for sure," one person wrote.
"That’s your husbands way of letting you know he was there and always will be. Congratulations!! What a sweet baby boy," someone else said.
"Wow! The weight and length exactly the same is truly heaven sent ! Johnny sent a glimmer to show you he is there with you all," a third comment read.
Meredith Gaudreau announced her pregnancy during the eulogy at her husband's funeral service. Carter joins big sister Noa, 2, and brother Johnny, 1, making them a family of four.
