Earlier this week Rory McIlroy broke his silence on the...well, silence, he gave playing partner Bryson DeChambeau during the final round of the Masters back in April.
“I don’t know what he was expecting,” McIlroy said a day before the PGA Championship teed off. “We’re trying to win the Masters. I’m not going to try to be his best mate out there.”
“Look, everyone approaches the game different ways,” the five-time majors champion said. “Yeah, like I was focused on myself and what I needed to do. That’s really all that it was. It wasn’t anything against him or against — it’s just I felt that’s what I needed to do to try to get the best out of myself that day.”
His comments came just over a month after DeChambeau revealed the five-time major champion refused to talk to him during the round. “[He] didn’t talk to me once all day,” DeChambeau said at the time. “He wouldn’t talk to me.”
The two-time major winner might be getting the last laugh at the PGA Championship, though. DeChambeau is climbing the leaderboard as he sits at 4-under and just six shots off the lead of Jhonnatan Vagas while McIlroy is set to start his second round at 3-over and 13 shots off the lead.
As DeChambeau makes his way up the leaderboard, his rumored girlfriend, Lilia Schneider is trending on social media. Her most recent post, which showed her graduating from college, garnered over 2,000 likes and 60 comments.

"these pictures are beautiful!๐๐ฅ," added another.
DeChambeau has four top-10's in his last five major appearances and appears well on his way to making it five of the last six.
