'Ted Lasso' Star Answers One of the Biggest Series Finale Questions

When Ted Lasso wrapped up its third and possibly final season in 2023, one of several burning questions that left fans hanging involved the character of model-turned-PR-executive Keeley Jones. And now Juno Temple, who starred as Keeley for three seasons on the beloved Apple TV+ series, has definitively set the record straight.

In the series finale, begrudging friends Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) and Jamie Tartt (Phil Dunster) showed up at Keeley's door to demand that she choose between them. After ending a relationship with Jamie in the first season, Keeley eventually begins dating Roy. However, by the start of the third season, it's revealed that the couple has parted ways and both Jamie and Roy spend the bulk of the season fighting over her.

Unfortunately for the two footballers, Keeley is decidedly unimpressed with the ultimatum disguised as a romantic gesture, and sends both men packing. Yet, hopeless romantics continued to hold out hope that perhaps she might come around to one of her suitors.

Now, speaking with Entertainment Weekly in an interview published on Thursday, Temple revealed who she thinks Keeley would have wound up choosing.

"I think, ultimately, she ends up with Roy," the 35-year-old explained. "But! At the same time, I will say that working with both of those men—Phil and Brett—they are such extraordinary humans, and I think the journey of both of their characters throughout all three seasons is a quiet masterclass in acting."

"I think she would probably have a great time ending up with either one of them, but my gut tells me that it would probably be Roy," she added.

But perhaps fans may still get the opportunity to see the couple get their happily ever after. Rumors of a fourth season have been bubbling for quite some time, and last August it was reported that Warner Bros. Television had picked up options on Goldstein, as well as stars Hannah Waddingham and Jeremy Swift.

This week, Apple insider Sigmund Judge, who hosts of the Magic Rays of Light podcast, exclusively reported that a fourth season of Ted Lasso will begin in filming in May or June with the focus "shifting at AFC Richmond to the formation of its women’s team." Given that the finale also saw Keeley presenting Rebecca (Waddingham) with a proposal for an AFC Richmond Women's Team, that seems to track.

Temple likewise teased a fourth season to Entertainment Weekly earlier this week, but played coy when it came to details.

"I’ve heard the kind of stunt version of, yeah, potentially, it sounds like there might be a season four," she told the publication. "I don't know when. I don't know exactly who, what, why, where, but I think it sounds like those cogs are turning."

"The idea of a spinoff with Ted Lasso is a complicated one for me, because it so feels like a team that I don't know if I would want to do a spinoff," Temple continued. "I don't want to be a part of it if everybody else isn't. It's a team. It's a real team!"

Suffice to say, fans will be waiting on bated breath for an official confirmation. Perhaps there is a future for Keeley and Roy, after all.
