Benson Boone Addresses 'Aggressive' Crotch Grab at the Grammys

Singer-songwriter Benson Boone put on quite the show, in more ways than one, while performing his hit single "Beautiful Things" during the 2025 Grammys. So much so that the 22-year-old was forced to issue an apology and clarification after the show.

Boone initially materialized in what appeared to be a black tuxedo, before it was ripped off by Heidi Klum and Nikki Glaser to reveal a tight, shimmery, midriff-baring baby blue bodysuit underneath. He then made his way to the stage where he climbed onto a piano and promptly did a flip off the side, in the first of several that punctuated his performance.

Finally, Boone thanked the cheering crowd, telling them, "I love you L.A.," and then seemingly grabbed his crotch in front of the millions watching at home.

Suffice to say, it didn't take long for the moment to go viral. Some viewers pointed out the apparently stunned reaction of SZA sitting in the audience, while others expressed their own shock. "I will be thinking about Benson Boone’s crotch grab for…a WHILE," quipped one user on social media, echoing countless others.

But the squeaky-clean singer, who is reportedly a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, was evidently not making a statement with the apparent crotch grab. In an Instagram story following the ceremony, Boone apologized for the incident.

"Sorry for adjusting my jumpsuit so aggressively on stage tonight," he wrote. "That thing was extremely restricting in certain areas."

But that wasn't the only crotch grab of the night. Janelle Monáe also mimicked a similar move while channeling Michael Jackson for a performance of his iconic music video "Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough." But given the inspiration, it would seem that the latter crotch grab was fully intentional.
