Video Shows Yellowstone Tourist Attempting Selfie With Charging Elk

Yellowstone National Park is home to natural beauty in many forms, from the steaming Grand Prismatic Spring to the countless elk and bighorn sheep that wander its lands. But these things are meant to be appreciated from afar, as they often present a real and present danger to unsuspecting tourists.

One recent Yellowstone visitor got a little too comfortable with the wildlife while trying to capture a precious moment. The Instagram account Tourons of Yellowstone, which chronicles the shenanigans of tourist morons in the park, shared video of the encounter that could've easily turned gruesome in a matter of seconds.

A woman got up close to a bull elk grazing on grass on the side of the road to try to get a photo of the feeding animal. "The poor animal is trying to eat, and this crazy psychopath [is trying to take a picture]," the person recording the video can be heard saying.

The elk then looks up from its meal and turns toward the woman and begins moving toward her while the person recording—the woman's daughter—implores her to get back in the car. She turned the camera around to seemingly try to get a selfie with the animal as it charges toward her before she fled to the parked car across the road. As she catches her breath, someone asks her the question on everyone's minds: "Did you get a picture?"

Bull elk aren't exactly the friendliest animals up close. While this year's rut may be over, that doesn't mean one of these massive animals won't try to attack you if given the chance.
