Tommy Lee Accused of Sexually Assaulting Woman Aboard Helicopter

Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee has been accused of sexually assaulting an unnamed woman onboard a helicopter in 2003. Rolling Stone first reported the news last week.

The civil lawsuit was filed on December 11. It accuses Lee of “forcibly groping, kissing and penetrating [Jane Doe] with his fingers, and attempting to force her to perform oral copulation.” The victim had allegedly been invited on the flight by the helicopter’s pilot, David Martz. She reportedly knew Martz from being his bank teller, and the two developed a cordial friendship in “late 2001 or early 2002.”

Jane Doe believed she would be on a sightseeing tour of San Diego, but at the last minute was told that the aircraft would be transporting Lee back to Los Angeles. “[Martz] needed to take Lee to Van Nuys,” the lawsuit reads, “and [he said] that the trip would take no longer than 35 to 40 minutes, and then commanded Plaintiff to hop in the helicopter.” She alleges that, during the flight, Martz and Lee were drinking alcohol and taking drugs.

During the flight, Lee allegedly invited the victim into the cockpit and assaulted her. “Plaintiff was in tears, but she had nowhere to go—she was trapped with little mobility to leave the cockpit,” according to the suit.

Jane Doe is seeking unspecified damages. She clarified that she waited to report the incident because she didn’t feel authorities would believe her story, and because at the time she felt it was an isolated event. However, she now believes Lee and Martz “had a history of engaging in indecent and illegal conduct on Martz’s helicopter.”

Mayhem Touring, Tommy Lee Inc, A Natural High Helicopters and Social Helicopters are all named in the lawsuit as defendants. None of them have commented on the allegations at this time.

This is a developing story. Check back later for more information.
