Sausage patties are an essential component of many McDonald's breakfast items like the McGriddle and the McMuffin. But you don't necessarily have to go to the drive-thru just to get it.
TikTok user Mike Haracz is a former corporate chef at McDonald's and dedicates videos on his page to demystifying the fast food giant and exposing some little-known secrets from behind the counter. In a Dec. 7 video, Haracz said he found a close match for the sausage patties used in McDonald's breakfasts at Walmart.
Haracz reached his conclusion by looking at various breakfast sausages' nutritional information and ingredients to find a comparable item at stores that people can buy. Ultimately, he found that Walmart's Great Value Pork Breakfast Sausage Patties is the closest one can get to the real thing.
"The ingredient statements are very close," he said. He pointed out that the Great Value patties have "a little bit more fat in it as well as a different set of preservatives," though it didn't have much of an effect on how it turned out. "When I tasted it and cooked it up, it is pretty darn close to the McDonald's breakfast sausage patty."

The sausage patties are the latest McDonald's dupe Haracz has found at Walmart. He recently claimed that their French fries can also be replicated using Great Value fries.
The ingredient list and nutritional information are key to finding a good dupe for anything, Haracz explained in an interview with Fox Business. "The biggest thing to finding dupes is comparing ingredient and nutritional information from both McDonald’s and the products you are searching for," Haracz said.
"The most important part, though, is obviously the taste," he added. "You will also want to try and cook the item in a similar manner to the product you are trying to copy."
Why not the McGriddle next time and make it yourself for less?
