Padma Lakshmi Is Leaving 'Top Chef' After 20 Seasons as Host

Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi announced that she's leaving the hit Bravo cooking competition show after 20 seasons and 17 years. Lakshmi is also one of the show's executive producers.

Lakshmi, who appeared in this year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition, also hosts Taste the Nation on Netflix. In her statement released on social media, she cited her commitments to that show and her successful career as an author of cook books and children's books as her reasons for leaving.

First airing in 2006 on Bravo, Top Chef is a hugely successful franchise. It's spawned nearly a dozen spinoffs globally and won an Emmy for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program in 2010.

The 20th season of Top Chef began airing back in March, and is set to air its finale next week. The show recently celebrated its 300th episode. It has already been renewed for a 21st season, although no new host has been announced yet.
