Southwest Airlines Projected to Lose Money After Ending Free Bags

Earlier this year, Southwest Airlines made the controversial decision to end its longstanding policy of allowing two free checked bags for each customer. However, as the airline implements the policy change this month, it sounds like they will have a major problem on their hands going forward.

As Roger Dooley of Forbes points out, before Southwest officially decided to ditch its policy of free checked bags, the airline conducted its own research that indicated the change would lead to about $1.8 billion in market share compared to at best $1.5 billion in annual bag fee revenue.

"Southwest projected $1.5 billion in annual bag fee revenue. But if its own research about losing $1.8 billion in market share proves accurate, this could become a textbook case of how short-term financial pressure can destroy long-term brand value," Dooley wrote for Forbes.

Simple math indicates that the change is a losing proposition in the long run as they are losing more potential revenue in market share than they are gaining from the bag fees.

"The real test isn’t whether Southwest can collect $35 per bag. It’s whether it can keep collecting anything at all from long-term, loyal customers who now have plenty of motivation to look elsewhere. It’s too soon to tell how all this will shake out, but it’s clear Southwest has placed a high-risk bet that it will retain most of its customers despite the changed brand experience," Dooley wrote.

We'll have to see how the airline adapts after making the controversial change, but the initial projections seem to indicate that this could work for Southwest Airlines in the short term, it does not seem to be sustainable in the long run unless something else changes.

Rihanna's Father Ron Fenty Dies at Age 70: Reports

Rihanna has suffered a devastating family tragedy.

The singer has opened up over the years about her conflicted relationship with her dad, Ron Fenty.

Fenty and Rihanna's mom split up when the singer was a teen, and Rihanna was vocal about some public ups and downs with her father over the years.

Ron Fenty has now passed away at the age of 70.

People confirmed on May 31 that Fenty had died after Starcom Network first reported it. That site reported that Fenty had died after a "brief illness" in Los Angeles in the early morning hours of May 31. The official cause of death was not released.

"Family members have gathered in California," after his death, the site reported.

Rihanna's brother, Rajad Fenty, "was photographed arriving at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center," on May 28, TMZ reported, adding that Rihanna was "also in the car." The singer is currently pregnant.

Rihanna is from a blended family. According to TMZ, Ron Fenty and her mom, Monica Braithwaite, had three kids together: Rihanna, Rajad, and Rorrey. According to People, Ron Fenty had three other kids from other relationships, Samantha, Kandy, and Jamie, Rihanna's half-siblings.

The relationship was troubled over the years.

In 2011, Rihanna opened up to Vogue about her dad allegedly turning his back on her "for cash," Billboard reported.

“It really makes me question what I have become to my father. Like, what do I even mean to him? …..It’s really strange," she told Vogue, in an excerpt preserved by Billboard.

"That’s the only word I can think of to describe it, because you grow up with your father, you know him, you are a part of him, for goodness’ sakes!" Rihanna told Vogue. "And then he does something so bizarre that I can’t begin to wrap my mind around it. You hear the horror stories about people going behind people’s backs and doing strange things, but you always think, Not my family. My father would never do that to me.”

In 2019, Rihanna filed a lawsuit that accused her dad of "exploiting her name in what she says are his own million-dollar business deals," USA Today reported.

Rihanna's full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

Delta Responds to Moana Girl's Viral Singing During Hours-Long Flight Delay

Del Air Lines was forced to release a statement after customers grew furious when, during a two-hour flight delay, a young girl essentially held passengers hostage with her rendition of "How Far I'll Go" from Disney's 2016 Moana.

"We appreciate the customer sharing her talents and apologize to our customers for the delay in their travels," a Delta Air Lines spokesperson said in a statement to Newsweek.

The flight's takeoff to Orlando was initially delayed for two hours due to bad weather. Things got worse when the flight circled its destination city for another two hours. It's unclear when, but at some point it seems like the young girl was invited by a flight attendant to sing on the flight crew's intercom system.

‘Moon Knight’ Creator on Show’s Future: ‘Talk to Oscar Isaac’

The debut season of Marvel’s Moon Knight on Disney+ was largely a hit, drawing strong reviews from critics and fans alike. However, since the show’s initial release in 2022, there have been very few updates that have followed.

Moon Knight received a strong 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and an even better 88% score from fans on the Popcornmeter. While the hope and expectation of a Season 2 remained high, the latest comments from creator Jeremy Slator cast some doubt over the show's future.

As Slater revealed to Comicbook, the ball is Kevin Feige and Oscar Isaac's court.

“Talk to Kevin Feige, Talk to Oscar Isaac. I think the ball’s really in their court. It’s as much or as little Moon Knight as Oscar wants to do," Slater said.

He continued by emphasizing his "hope" that fans will get to see Moon Knight surface again, but admitting he's "as curious as" everyone else.

"Kevin’s the guy with the master plan, and I think when he comes up with a way to really incorporate Moon Knight into there … It’s my hope that we’re gonna see him again, but I’m as curious as the rest of you guys."

The comments from Slater appear to point toward the big question about the show's future coming down to Feige and Isaac. In turn, the outlook for the return of Moon Knight remains an unknown, but at least fans know who to monitor regarding the series' future.

It's built for a safe touch design, as the body insulation and outer silicone finish rapidly cool down after use, making it a family-friendly option. Reaching blazing high temperatures up to 930 degrees Fahrenheit, it can perfectly puff up cheese, achieve an artisanal crust, and fire off a delicious pie in as little as 60 seconds. While it weighs 64 pounds, its retractable legs and detachable fuel burners make it an on-the-go option that can fit anywhere there’s a party.

“It’s a great pizza oven, and, in my opinion, it has a superior build and engineering to an Ooni,” said one shopper. “However, unlike making a pie in your home oven at 350 degrees, it is part art and part science, making pizzas at this very high temp. Haribo Recall Raises Food Safety Questions After Cannabis Contamination

Haribo is recalling certain batches of its fizzy cola bottles in the Netherlands after cannabis was discovered in some of the candy, CNN reported. The incident has sparked serious concerns about food safety and quality control in the global supply chain.

The recall was prompted after several people, including children, fell ill from eating one-kilo bags of Haribo Happy Cola F!ZZ. The Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) confirmed that samples taken from the cola bottles were laced with cannabis. Dutch police are now investigating how the contamination occurred.

“The measure is precautionary,” Haribo stated through NVWA. “Only three bags have been found to be contaminated as of Thursday.” The company advised consumers not to eat the affected candy, specifically those with a best-before date of January 2026.

Haribo emphasized that the recall is limited to a specific product and batch in the Netherlands, with products in other countries unaffected. “We are working closely with the authorities to support their investigation and establish the facts around the contamination,” the company added.

Though cannabis-laced candies are often associated with illicit products, it’s rare for a contamination incident to involve a major commercial brand like Haribo. Somewhat similar incidents in recent years include the hospitalization of more than 60 Jamaican schoolchildren after consuming sweets laced with cannabis, Fox News reported. Also, according to CBS, seven Virginia elementary students fell ill from gummy bears contaminated with fentanyl residue. Both incidents happened in 2023.

This Haribo recall highlights the challenges of ensuring product safety in a complex and globalized supply chain. As the investigation continues, both Haribo and Dutch authorities are working to determine how the cannabis made its way into the fizzy cola bottles.

For consumers, the recall serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance when it comes to food safety, even from trusted brands.

Ralph Macchio Names His 'Only' Crush During His Rise to Fame

Before the release of "Karate Kid: Legends," longtime actor Ralph Macchio opened up about his love life.

Macchio has been around Hollywood since 1980. He truly became a star in 1983 because of his performance in "The Karate Kid." Well before his breakout role as Daniel LaRusso, he met his soulmate, Phyllis Fierro.

When Macchio was just 15 years old, he was introduced to his future wife. They eventually got married in 1987 and had two children together, a daughter named Julia and a son named Daniel.

Macchio will be featured in AARP’s June/July issue to celebrate 40 years as "The Karate Kid." During this extensive interview, he revealed that he never had a celebrity crush in the 1980s. That's because he only had eyes for his wife.

"I got to work with beautiful dynamic actresses like Elizabeth Shue and Marisa Tomei so people are like, well who was the one? And I know this is lame, but my girlfriend-wife was the one. We met at like 15, 16—and I wasn’t looking anyplace else," Macchio said.

Macchio recently gave his wife credit for helping him have a "one foot in, one foot out" approach to his acting career.

"Without her and without the foundation and the family we established, 'one foot in, one foot out' would have been very, very difficult on my own," Macchio said. "Because there would not be balance."

Suffice to say, Macchio doesn't have any regrets about meeting his wife at such a young age.

Pocket Change Is Causing Destruction at Iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site

Northern Ireland’s legendary Giant’s Causeway has survived a lot over 60 million years including volcanic eruptions, crashing waves, and even myths of battling giants. However, pocket change is becoming its latest threat, and authorities are now asking visitors to stop jamming coins into the iconic rocks.

If you’ve ever visited the Causeway, you know the awe that hits as you step onto its iconic basalt columns, rising like nature’s staircase into the sea. But look a little closer, and you’ll start to notice tiny metallic intrusions shoved into cracks and crevices. Dozens, hundreds, and thousands of coins, that seem to multiply everywhere you look. What began as a superstitious gesture—coins left behind for luck or love—has turned into a headache for conservationists. And now, the National Trust is asking visitors to knock it off.

"People see others put coins in, so they copycat, they take a coin out of their pocket and they might take a stone off the ground to hammer the coin in, but they might miss and chip the stone itself so that's doing damage," says Dr. Cliff Henry, nature engagement officer with the Trust.

This tourist behavior results in rust stains, chipped stone, and structural damage to some of the site's most fragile formations, especially an area known as The Loom, which is a cluster of 10-foot-tall leaning columns that are already feeling the wear.

Courtesy Image: National Trust

Why are coins a threat?

Once the coins are in, they don’t just sit there. The salty sea air accelerates corrosion, and expanding metal puts pressure on the basalt. In some cases, pieces have already broken off. Then there's the rust. A reddish-brown wash now stains the lighter-colored rocks, thanks to metals like copper, iron, and nickel leaching out and streaking the stone.

“This is rapid erosion on a geological scale,” says Henry. “And we’re talking about a World Heritage site here.”

The Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986, attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. 684,000 visitors came last year alone, as attendance steadily climbs back toward the pre-pandemic peak of nearly one million.

In response to concerns over damage caused by visitors wedging coins into the rock formations, the Geological Survey of Northern Ireland is supporting a cleanup effort. According to Dr. Kirstin Lemon, the first step is the safe removal of the coins, a task already underway with the help of a professional stonemason who has extracted about 10% so far. The hope is that once the coins are gone, the damaging habit will disappear as well.

“We don’t want visitors trying to pry them out themselves,” warns Henry, emphasizing the risk of causing further damage. Speaking to the BBC, he added, “It’s Northern Ireland’s most iconic natural wonder. If we can’t protect this, what does that say about how we care for the rest of our landscape?”

For now, new signs and stronger messaging are on the way, but ultimately, the Causeway’s future depends on people respecting what’s already there.

Joe Rogan Issues Concerning 'Warning' to Colorado

UFC commentator Joe Rogan is officially worried about wolf attacks in the United States.

Multiple wolf attacks were reported near Aspen over Memorial Day weekend. According to the Colorado Sun, they occurred on the Crystal River Ranch, McCabe Ranch and Lost Marbles Ranch. As you'd imagine, ranchers are concerned about their livestock.

If Colorado Parks and Wildlife wasn't under enough pressure to keep ranchers and their livestock safe, that'll change after this Wednesday.

Rogan posted a lengthy message on social media regarding these wolf attacks in Colorado. He's been trying to raise awareness since February.

"Back in February I posted about wolves being released on my friend’s ranch outside of Aspen, and the devastation it was bound to cause. Since then just on his neighbor’s property they’ve had 7 calves and one cow killed by wolves, along with 4 calves and one cow wounded. And this is just one property. This Memorial Day weekend there was a series of wolf attacks at Lost Marbles Ranch, Crystal River Ranch and McCabe Ranch leaving two calves dead and others injured. These ranches have to hire men to patrol throughout the night to try to scare off wolves, and even that isn’t enough," Rogan wrote on Instagram.

"These are cunning and intelligent killers that they’ve moved into Aspen, and they haven’t even started breeding yet. The people who live in this area are rightly freaked out by what’s happening and it’s only going to get worse."

The prominent podcast host let it be known that he loves wolves, he just doesn't want them anywhere near cattle ranches in Aspen.

"For the record, I love wolves and all wildlife, but moving intelligent, ruthless predators into a community filled with cattle ranches that have no experience with wolves is an insanely stupid thing to do. And they’ve spent over 4.7 million dollars of taxpayer money doing it," Rogan explained.

Rogan's post on Instagram included a graphic photo that puts these attacks into perspective.

We'll see if Rogan's words inspire any changes in Colorado.

Tom Cruise's 5-Word Response to Historic ‘Mission: Impossible’ Box Office Record

Tom Cruise spent Memorial Day weekend proving that no mission is impossible for Ethan Hunt—particularly when it comes to the box office.

Between Lilo & Stitch, Disney’s newest live-action adaptation, and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, the box office was on fire this holiday weekend. With an overall domestic haul of $322 million, Lilo, Stitch, and Tom led what went down as the biggest Memorial Day weekend in box office history.

Related: 19 Years Later, 'Final Reckoning' Retcons an Underrated 'Mission: Impossible' Sequel

While Lilo & Stitch accounted for more than half of that sum with its $183 million weekend, the eighth film in the Mission: Impossible saga brought in a not-too-shabby $77 million. Cinema holdovers including Final Destination Bloodlines, Marvel’s Thunderbolts*, and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners contributed to the box office milestone.

Cruise was feeling the love, and made sure to let both his fans and the team that helped bring what very well could be the last Mission: Impossible movie to the big screen know how much he appreciates their support.

On Tuesday morning, Cruise posted a message to his Instagram in which he declared the weekend “one for the history books!”

“Congratulations and thank you to every filmmaker, every artist, every crew member and every single person who works at the studios,” Cruise wrote. “To every theater and every employee who helps bring these stories to audiences, thank you.”

After thanking everyone at Paramount Pictures and Skydance for their “many years of partnership and unwavering support,” Cruise saved the biggest thanks for last:

“And most of all, THANK YOU to audiences everywhere—for whom we all serve and for whom we all LOVE to entertain,” he wrote.

As Deadline reports, Mission: Impossible’s success stretched far beyond the United States. Worldwide, the movie bagged a total of $204 million in ticket sales.

Though Ethan Hunt’s latest adventure has been hit with mixed reviews—it currently holds an 80 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which puts it in the bottom half of the franchise’s rankings—it was wildly popular at the Cannes Film Festival, where it made its debut earlier this month, and was met with a seven-and-a-half minute standing ovation from the audience.

“I’m just very grateful, very grateful for 30 years to be able to entertain you with this franchise,” an emotional Cruise told the Cannes crowd.

David Tennant Made Play for Pedro Pascal's 'Fantastic Four’ Role

As the premiere of the highly anticipated Fantastic Four: First Steps draws near, the next addition to the Marvel series continues to ramp up hype. The film, starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Julia Garner, is set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.

While the entire cast of noteworthy names drew attention when it was announced, Pascal's name specifically moved the needle, as he's been one of the most popular names in Hollywood of late. He's now set to follow up roles in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us with his portrayal of Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic.

However, as MCM Comic Con revealed, courtesy of DiscussingFilm, one name specifically had his sights set on the role of Mister Fantastic—David Tennant.

David Tennant attends the 2025 BAFTA Television Awards With P&O Cruises at The Royal Festival Hall.

Although Tennant was seemingly disappointed in being passed over for the role, he gave Pascal a tip of the cap.

“Unfortunately it looks like they’ve gone in a different direction," tenant said of the role of Mister Fantastic. "Although if it has to be someone [else], I’m very happy for it to be Pedro Pascal.”

Tennant has starred in the tenth and fourteenth incarnations of the Doctor in the sci-fi series Doctor Who, playing the roles from 2005 to 2010 and in 2013. He's also been in the 2011 film Fright Night, the television series Jessica Jones, and played numerous other roles throughout his career.

Andrew Huberman Opens Up About Admiration for Joe Rogan

On a recent episode of his podcast, Huberman Lab, Andrew Huberman opened up about his thoughts on fellow podcaster Joe Rogan.

"One of the main reasons why Rogan is the top podcast in the world," Huberman explained, "is because he has lots of different kinds of friends—and he can sit down with intellectuals, he can sit down with comics, he can sit down with criminals—he likes the understanding and communication with different kinds of people."

He continued, "His life is filled with these people outside of the studio, so he's very comfortable in the presence of anyone. You put anyone in front of him, and he can be genuinely interested in learning from them."

This profession of admiration isn't a complete shock— Huberman has appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience multiple times and the two are known to be buddies.

As podcast listeners know, both podcasts are highly successful. According to OLGB.com, Rogan stands as the favorite to remain Spotify's top global podcast of 2025. His odds to nab that title are seconded by Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce, and Huberman Lab.

In 2024, The Hollywood Reporter announced that The Joe Rogan Experience was the top podcast on Spotify for the fifth consecutive year. Call Her Daddy was second.

In an interview, Jordan Newman, Spotify's head of content partnerships, shared, "I think there are a lot of new podcasts launched today that start with video... It definitely feels like it’s becoming an endemic part of the podcast industry for the right podcast that can support that sort of creative format.”

Many months remain before November, when Spotify is set to unveil its most successful podcast of 2025. As always, its success will depend not just on today’s cultural climate, but also on the caliber of its guests.

National Anthem Before Indy 500 Turns Heads

In the lead-up to the Indianapolis 500, Natalie Grant, a nine-time Grammy nominee, was announced as the singer of the national anthem before the start of the 109th running of the race.

“Natalie’s emotional and stirring rendition of the national anthem in front of the grandstand sellout crowd will be an unforgettable moment during pre-race ceremonies for the Indy 500,” INDYCAR and IMS president J. Douglas Boles said in a statement at the time. “The national anthem pays honor to the country we love and gets us one step closer to the final, dramatic and electric moments leading up to the start of the Indianapolis 500.”

While rain delayed the start of the race, Grant went on to perform her own rendition of the anthem with flags behind her showing the true force of the wind on Sunday, May 25.

Reactions to Grant's national anthem were mixed, with some believing she should sing the iconic song at every Indy 500 while others weren't too pleased.

"Another person mucking up the National Anthem at the Indy 500! It's not about the singer, it's about the nation! She made it about herself! Terrible!" one person said.

"What is amazing about the playing of TAPS at the Indy 500 -- 350,000 on site and you can hear a pin drop. But of course, that is followed by another dreadful National Anthem," added another.

"She did a beautiful job!" offered a third.

Grant is a singer and songwriter best known for her work in Christian and gospel music who has won five GMA Dove Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year.

MLB Announcers Stunned to Learn About a Baseball Rule During Live Broadcast

A bizarre play unfolded Friday night during the Los Angeles Dodgers-New York Mets game at Citi Field that shocked everyone involved.

Everyone except the umpires.

It all went down in the top of the third inning with Mookie Betts at the plate and Michael Conforto on second base and Shohei Ohtani on first base. Betts hit a fly ball into right-center field, where Mets outfielders Tyrone Taylor and Juan Soto both attempted to make the catch. Instead, they bumped into each other, prompting the ball to pop out of Taylor's glove. He bobbled it a bit before eventually catching it with his bare hand for the out.

But while the ball was being bobbled, Conforto tagged up from second base and took off for third base, while Ohtani tagged up from first base to second base. Taylor fired the ball to second base, beating Ohtani by a mile, but the umpire called Ohtani safe. And this is where things get tricky. Mets players assumed Conforto tagged early and failed to wait until Taylor caught the ball for the out. Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor was shocked that the umpire called Ohtani safe at second, as Lindor assumed he executed the double play -- with Conforto tagging early and Ohtani getting to second base late. Even the AppleTV+ broadcasters, play-by-play announcer Wayne Randazzo and analyst Dontrelle Willis, were adamant that the Mets' replay challenge would overturn the call and give the Mets the double play.

They were wrong.

The Apple TV+'s rules analyst, former MLB umpire Ben Gorman, explained that a baserunner doesn't have to wait until the ball is caught and called an out. The rule dictates a baserunner can tag up once the opposing team simply makes contact with the baseball.

“The reason behind the touch, as opposed to when he eventually catches the ball, is that an outfielder can actually juggle the ball all the way in and prevent the guy from advancing,” Gorman explained. “As soon as the ball hits the glove, he can take off."

“You learn something new every day, Wayne,” Willis exclaimed. “Wow.”

“For real,” Randazzo replied. “So, because he waited for the touch to happen, the catch is essentially nullified, in terms of tagging up. And Conforto was ruled to have tagged up appropriately.”

He added, "Conforto tagged appropriately because he tagged on the initial touch. He didn't wait for the catch. And [the Mets] had a play at second base but they didn't realize they needed to tag Shohei. They thought touching the bag would be a double play."

Randazzo later got a note from his producer, which explained that "Tommy McCarthy played in the late 1800s and he would juggle the ball on purpose to mess with the base runners, so they put the rule in because of our friend here."

Willis laughed off the whole thing, saying he didn't feel bad because it was clear that the players on the field didn't know the rule either.

"Well, you know what, I didn't know the rules and apparently Francisco Lindor, who's on the field, didn't know the rules, either," Willis quipped. "So I don't feel so bad."

Beloved Restaurant Chain Planta Closes First Location

Whenever a local restaurant files for bankruptcy, it always brings some sorrow, because nobody wants their business to end in bankruptcy. But, sometimes the only way to move forward is to cut one's losses and move on. Restaurants filing for bankruptcy have become very common the past few years, and that trend is continuing with one beloved restaurant chain.

A chain of vegan restaurants filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the District of Delaware earlier this month, and now, that chain has closed its first location.

Planta, founded in 2016, is a plant-based restaurant chain. The company has locations across the United States and in Canada, including restaurants in New York, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Washington, D.C. and Toronto.

Now, Planta has closed the first of its locations following filing for bankruptcy. The restaurant's location in West Palm Beach, FL, at CityPlace officially shut its doors on May 20.

Assistant manager Jessie Gregory, who worked at the West Palm Beach location for more than two years, told the Palm Beach Post that workers were informed on May 20 that they were closing and that it would be their final shift.

Gregory also told the publication that "they had received no warning and despite the bankruptcy filing reported May 12, the buzz at the CityPlace restaurant was that they'd be 'staying open.'"

Gregory says the restaurant employed around 30 people and that a few workers were offered the chance to transfer to the Fort Lauderdale, FL, location, although the company didn't make it clear how much work the employees could get at that location.

Gregory also said that working at a vegan restaurant meant a lot to her, because she is vegan, so the restaurant's mission was congruent with Gregory's lifestyle. "I put a lot of energy into being a good employee and helped them whenever they needed it," she told the Palm Beach Post.

MLB Player, Wife Receive Awful Death Threats After Loss

Boston Red Sox reliever Liam Hendriks says he and his wife have received death threats following his shaky outing against the New York Mets Wednesday.

Hendriks, who is in his 14th MLB season and first with the Red Sox, let up three runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning last night, earning the loss in Boston's 5-1 setback against the Mets. After striking out the final two batters in the top of the sixth inning, Hendriks allowed three hits to start the seventh, with all three of those runners coming around to score.

On Thursday morning, Hendriks took to his Instagram story to speak out against the "vile" comments he and his wife have apparently been getting.

"Just an FYI: Threats on my life and my wife's life are horrible and cruel. You need help," Hendriks said. "Leaving comments telling me to commit suicide and how you wish I died from cancer is disgusting and vile."

Hendriks, 36, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in January 2023 and underwent chemotherapy. He was declared cancer-free in April of that year.

"Maybe you should take a step back and reevaluate your life's purpose before hiding behind a screen attacking players and their families," Hendriks continued. "Whether you do it from your 'fake accounts' or are dumb enough to do it from your real account. I think I speak for all players who have had to deal with this in their career when I say: Enough is enough."

Hendriks, who missed the entire 2024 season recovering from Tommy John surgery, has pitched in 11 games so far for the Red Sox, recording a 5.56 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with 11 strikeouts in 11.1 innings.

Hours before he took the loss against the Mets, the three-time All-Star expressed frustration about his role in the Boston bullpen.

"No rhyme or reason. I have no idea," Hendriks told reporters. "It's actually a source of contention that I've had with [the team] and I've had multiple conversations about.

So far, neither the Red Sox or Major League Baseball have commented on the alleged threats against Hendriks and his family.

Sports Chiropractor Shares the One Stretch That Can Instantly Reduce Knee Pain

As we age, our knees are often one of the first joints to start acting up. Whether you're climbing stairs or sitting down on the couch, that familiar ache can creep in, often accompanied by stiffness in the hips and ankles. For athletes and anyone who spends serious time in the gym, those nagging pains aren’t just annoying—they can seriously derail training and performance.

If you want to keep knee pain at bay, Bret Hoffer, D.C., a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, recommends incorporating specific stretches into your routine. These moves help strengthen the muscles that support the knee, boost range of motion, and ease discomfort. But don’t wait until your knees are wrecked—Hoffer says the best time to start is before the pain sets in.

"I played tennis most of my career through college, and hindsight's 20-20. Had I known all of these details back then, my knees would probably be a lot better. I was dealing with some issues, and I wanted to do some rehab on them, so I used bands to come up with some things to access the internal-external rotation of the knee joint. And that helps kind of glide the joints on top of each other so that the meniscus and the tissues inside are lubricated."

View the original article to see embedded media.

How to Do the Banded Knee Stretch

  1. Sit down with your thighs at 90 degrees, your feet flat on the ground.
  2. Attach a resistance band to a poll or something to your left or to your right, depending on which knee you're working on.
  3. Wrap the band around the ball of your foot that's opposite the poll where you attached your band.
  4. Lift up your toe slightly and turn your foot on your heel out and in to rotate the entire knee joint.
  5. For extra stability, hold your knee gently so your leg stays in place.

Muscles Essential for Stabilizing the Knee

Most people think that knee strength starts and ends with the knee, but it’s a bit more complex than that. According to Hoffer, three key muscles play a major role in supporting knee health, and targeting them can make a big difference in reducing pain and improving mobility.

Popliteus

The popliteus is behind the calf muscle and runs diagonally across the knee, attaching behind the knee. This muscle stabilizes the knee, particularly when changing direction or walking downhill.

Gastrocnemius

The gastrocnemius is the chief muscle of your calf, which flexes the knee and foot. It crosses the knee and ankle joint and helps your knees to bend properly, and allows you to point your toes downward.

Tibialis Anterior Muscles

The tibialis anterior muscles are great stabilizers of the knee. "Most people don't exercise them because you get a lot of exercise when walking uphill or jogging because as you lift your toes off the ground, you're contracting that front shin muscle."

Strengthening More Than Just Your Knee

According to Hoffer, if you want truly healthy knees, you need to focus on more than just the joint itself. That means targeting not only the quads and hamstrings above the knee, but also the calves and other muscles below it. When all of those are strong and stable, the knee becomes more stable too.

Walmart's Bestselling Under Cabinet Lights Are Over 70% Off, and Shoppers Say They Look 'Excellent' in a Kitchen

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Getting light under cabinets, shelving, or inside of small closets and storage areas isn’t easy—there’s usually no room for a lamp, and wiring up lights is a serious project. What’s a DIYer to do? One of the best solutions is an adhesive strip light, like this bestselling three-pack of rechargeable under-cabinet lights that Walmart is selling for under $20 right now.

The three-pack of Ogednac LED Under Cabinet Lights is on sale for $17, a 72% discount from its normal price of $60. This bestselling bundle includes three light strips that adhere with magnets or 3M stickers. It's a bestseller at Walmart with over 600 five-star ratings, and shoppers say they’re a “simple and effective” way to light up dark spaces like closets, pantries, or shelves.

These light strips are each studded with 46 LEDs for bright, even light, and they’re powered by rechargeable 800mAh lithium batteries. Each light strip features an aluminum housing that’s both durable and sleek, so they’re easy to fit into small areas, and they’ll blend into any decor scheme. The light strips have two modes: Motion Sensor Mode and Always On Mode. In Motion Sensor Mode, they’ll turn on when motion is detected nearby and will automatically shut off after 30 seconds of no motion (best for inside of closets or pantries), or you can switch them to Always On mode, and you control the duration of the lighting. With the press of a button, you can adjust the color temperature for clear white light (great for illuminating work areas) or warm yellow light (an ideal night light), and a long press allows you to adjust the brightness to your liking.

Walmart shoppers are loving these lights, and the reviews are overwhelmingly skewed toward five-star ratings. One shopper said these light strips are “bright” and “really work,” and added that they’re “great lights for under cabinets or closets.” Another shopper installed them in a hallway and said they’re “super handy if the power goes out.” A third shopper praised their “excellent” illumination.

A McDonald's 'Migraine Hack' is Going Viral on Social Media

A new McDonald's "migraine hack" has been trending on social media, and some are swearing by the apparent fast food remedy.

Recently, users on TikTok and elsewhere have been claiming that a certain McDonald's combo has been providing them migraine relief. The so-called "McMigraine meal" consists of a large order of fries and a large Coca-Cola.

“Trying McDonald’s chips [fries] and a Diet Coke because I’ve had a headache for 48 hours and TikTok said it would help," wrote one woman over a TikTok video that has over 3.8 million views.

In the comments section and on various other social media posts, there are examples of people saying the "hack" worked for them. But is there actual science behind it?

Yes and no, doctors claim.

"We know the caffeine can help migraines in the short-term therapy of them. So it isn't too surprising that the caffeine in Coca-Cola itself is helpful," Dr. David Walker told Very Well Health.

Additionally, caffeine has pain relief properties and can "makes other analgesics more potent," neurologist Dr. Matthew Robbins told TODAY.

French fries are seen in this illustration photo taken at McDonald's restaurant in Jawornik, Poland on November 4, 2024.

NurPhoto/Getty Images

The fries could also help some migraine sufferers due to their saltiness and being loaded with carbohydrates, which might be of particular assistance to people who suffer migraines as a result of low blood sugar.

On the other side, some people find that caffeine can actually trigger migraines, and what works for one person may not have any effect--or actually worsen things--for another.

"Triggers for migraines vary from person to person," Dr. Brintha Vasagar told Fox News Digital. "So, this combination for some people will make their migraines worse."

On top of that, there's also the concern about consuming too much fast food, which of course is not great for anyone's overall health.

“If someone finds that they improve with this hack, that's great for them,” Robbins said. “But if they’re using it often, that’s not good for you either.”

Ultimately, we'll let you decide if the "McMigraine meal" is right for you. Just be sure to use it in moderation.

'The Pat McAfee Show' Announces Tom Cruise Appearance

Although the NBA and NHL playoffs are in full swing, Pat McAfee will take a break from sports this week to talk about Tom Cruise's newest film, "Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning."

Cruise, 62, has been playing the role of Ethan Hunt in the "Mission: Impossible" franchise since 1996. Last week, he received a standing ovation after "The Final Reckoning" premiered at Cannes Film Festival.

Since the release of the eighth "Mission: Impossible" film, Cruise has faced a ton of questions about his future. With that said, he should brace for a few more questions this Wednesday afternoon.

McAfee announced that Cruise will make a guest appearance on his ESPN show this Wednesday. He's expected to join "The Pat McAfee Show" at 12:30 p.m. ET.

"We have some breaking news," McAfee said on Tuesday's show. "Tom Cruise will be on the show tomorrow. Tom Cruise is on the show tomorrow! Obviously, 'Final Reckoning' is in theaters on Thursday. Everybody is going to to this move. It's 2 hours and 50 minutes - I believe - of nonstop right hook, left hook, right hook, left hook."

It'll be interesting to see how Cruise interacts with McAfee and his crew.

Cruise has already said he's thinking about projects outside of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise. That's a strong sign that he's ready to move on from this incredible chapter of his career.

"It took me 35 years to figure out Top Gun: Maverick, so all of these things we’re working on, we’re discussing [sequels to] "Days of Thunder" and "Top Gun: Maverick." There’s numerous other films that we’re actively working on right now," Cruise said. "I’m always shooting a film, prepping a film, posting a film. I just finished a film with Alejandro Iñárritu too, who did The Revenant, that was an extraordinary experience."

As of this Tuesday, "The Final Reckoning" has an 80% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Hopefully, it's a fitting conclusion to Ethan Hunt's journey.

Disneyland Announces Major Menu Change for 70th Anniversary

Disneyland Resort wants its guests to come hungry when they visit the Anaheim, CA park because there are major menu changes ahead.

The theme park is celebrating its 70th anniversary, so there's nothing better than having over 70 new food items to choose from. According to Disney Parks Blog which has the full menu, fans are going to be lining up for the tasty treats that were launched on May 16.

There's a 70th Celebration Churro that's a colorful delight topped with blue raspberry icing and sprinkles. According to ComicBook.com, it can be found "near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Haunted Mansion, and Town Square." There's also the House-filled Celebration Beignet served at Tiana's Palace with a "raspberry mousse, buttercream glaze, and topped with an edible candle."

In the last 20 years, Disney has elevated its food experience for their guests, causing its limited-edition menus to go viral on social media. It's a strategy that has worked well for the company.

“Rides and attractions are the number one, then food and beverage are really neck and neck with why people go to the parks,” Dennis Speigel, president of International Theme Parks Services, told CNBC in 2022. “It’s just a fact. And what parks have seized on in the last 20 years is building their new attractions around areas that offer food and beverage.”

It's part of the Disney's "history of innovation" and has kept other amusement parks constantly chasing them — they are consistently the leader of the pack.

“It expands the experience,” said Bill Coan, president and CEO of iTEC Entertainment, to the media outlet. “Disney is playing this out and playing it up to advance the visitor experience and at the same time generate incremental revenue.”

For anyone thinking of trying Disneyland's 70th anniversary treats, be sure to head to the California amusement park before July 17.
