One of Huckberry's Newest Waxed Jackets That 'Keeps You Nice and Cozy' Is Now Up to 55% Off and Selling Fast

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Guys in the know understand that Huckberry is where you want to go for a quality waxed jacket. They just get better looking with age and are a solid pick to wear from fall to spring. They don't go on sale often—when they do they typically sell out fast—but we just spotted a deal on one of the newest waxed jackets in the retailer's lineup that might be the best discount we've ever seen on one at over half off.

Flint and Tinder’s York Quilted Waxed Jacket is now on sale for as low as $134, which is up to 55% off of the retail price of $298. Flint and Tinder, Huckberry’s house brand, makes the hugely popular Flannel-Lined Waxed Trucker Jacket, but folks have also been loving this sleek and stylish variation. New this season, it's already earned high praise from shoppers who say it’s a “great daily wear coat” with a “very cool look." It comes in three colors—dark olive and navy, or a light tan—and is still available in most sizes from XS to 2XL. The first two are on sale for the ultra-low $134 price while the tan is $193.

A good waxed jacket is a wardrobe essential, and Huckberry makes some of the best with their Flint and Tinder brand. The York Quilted Waxed Jacket takes the classic style to a new level with a similar durable, water-resistant waxed canvas that’s also lightly insulated with recycled polyester Primaloft. The canvas is sourced from U.K.-based Halley Stevensons and will adjust to the ambient temperature, becoming softer and more breathable when it’s warmer, and stiffer when the mercury drops to up wind resistance—plus it’s re-waxable so you can keep it water-resistant for life. Nice details include moleskin-lined pockets with hidden snap closures, ripstop nylon lining for easier layering, a collar that’s supported internally so it’ll stay up, and an interior chest pocket to store your smartphone or other slim essentials.

Satisfied shoppers dig the jacket’s modern take on the classic waxed jacket silhouette, saying that it has “a flattering fit and a very cool look, with buttons and clasps more often found on traditional materials versus synthetics.” One commented that “the look of this one had me at 'hello.' Keeps you nice and cozy and it’s extra stylish,” and bet that this “beautiful” jacket is one that “you’ll wanna hang on to.”

Shoppers also liked all of the thoughtful touches included in the quilted jacket. “I absolutely love this coat, and my wife might love it even more!” said one. “The deep pockets are a great feature—I was able to fit an entire book in one recently.” Others thought that “the double zipper was such a great addition,” and that it had the “perfect phone pocket inside.” Another summed up the jacket by saying: "Easily my favorite jacket of the season—I’ve yet to find a better replacement since I got this bad boy."

If you don’t yet have a waxed canvas jacket or just want to add one that has a more modern and stylish cut, then this Flint and Tinder jacket should be on your list. It looks sleek and cool, plus packs in a bunch of great features that make it the perfect everyday coat. And, at a savings of up to $164, it will go fast so make sure you jump on one before they are sold out.

Authorities Issue Cryptic Update in Death of Gene Hackman and Wife

Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza and the city’s Fire Department Chief, Brian Moya, gave a cryptic update regarding the death of Gene Hackman and his wife.

Hackman, 95, and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, 65, were found dead in their New Mexico home along with one of their dogs on Wednesday. The couple’s other two dogs were found elsewhere on the property, still alive and in good health.

During an appearance on The Today Show on Friday, Mendoza revealed that the department is not “ruling [foul play] out.”

He stipulated that authorities are “pretty confident there's no foul play just based on the lack of evidence” found at the scene. "But we, of course, are not ruling that out,” Mendoza continued. “I think the autopsy results, the official results, are going to help steer us in the right direction.” He said that while Hackman and Arakawa’s autopsies will “take some time,” the outcomes will be “key” to the investigation. Mendoza admitted that it’s “very difficult to put a timeline together” regarding their deaths, but he admitted Hackman and Arakawa may have been dead for “up to a couple of weeks” before they were found.

"When we arrived on scene, my paramedics did do an evaluation,” Moya explained, “and it was obvious [that they were dead]. We didn't do any life-saving measures, so at the time, we didn't need to get any closer due to the fact that it was an obvious sudden death.”

Moya didn’t rule out the possibility of a gas leak or carbon monoxide poisoning, but evidence at the scene didn’t suggest either. "At the time of the incident, we did not determine anything that was in the house with our meters that was concerning to our guys doing the searches," he said.

Hackman and Arakawa’s bodies are currently at the Office of the Medical Investigator in Santa Fe. Autopsies were conducted, but their cause of death have not been confirmed.

One of Gerber Gear's Most Popular Utility Knives That's 'Rugged, Strong, and Durable' Is Just $14 Right Now

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Avid collectors know that some of the best deals on quality pocket knives are found on Amazon. Everything from Kershaw tanto blades to Smith & Wesson's iconic take-everwhere miniature knives can usually be found at some sort of discount if you look at the right time. Right now, though, it's all about Gerber Gear—maker of the renowned Paraframe—because the brand's ultra-popular utility knife is less than $15.

The Gerber EAB Lite Utility Pocket Knife is available on Amazon right now for just $14, a 22% drop from its usual price of $18. This tiny, lightweight folding utility knife has earned over 12,000 five-star ratings from shoppers who say it’s “rugged, strong, and durable” and useful in all kinds of situations. This utility knife is one of the brand’s most beloved models and a popular pick among knife enthusiasts. One Reddit commenter even called it “the best utility knife I've ever used.” Unlike a typical pocket knife, this model utilizes disposable blades, which makes it ideal for box cutting and other down-and-dirty work that would quickly dull a regular knife blade. The plain-edge utility blades are super sharp, and exchanging them is easy—just loosen a screw to remove. The stainless steel handle is durable and protects the blade when folded, and it also features a pocket clip, so you can park the knife on a belt or use it as a money clip. The EAB Lite measures just 5.1 inches overall with a 1.5-inch blade, and it weighs a feathery 2.2 ounces.

Although the EAB Lite is small, it packs a punch, and reviewers have lavished this tiny blade with praise. One shopper called it “the best darn pocket knife on the planet” thanks to its ideal mix of attributes, including its “comfortable and easy to carry” design and “well made” construction.

Related: Walmart Is Selling a $500 Storage Shed for Only $140 That Stays 'Completely Dry' in Snowy and Rainy Weather

Other shoppers love it because of its portability. “Between the compact size and ease of blade replacement, it's just about the perfect carry knife to keep with you all the time,” a shopper said. Another shopper agreed, noting it's “a razor-sharp knife that is compact and very well designed.”

You won’t regret investing in a quality knife, especially when the investment costs about what you’d pay for a takeout lunch. At $14, the Gerber EAB Lite Utility Knife is an exceptional deal, so don’t miss out—thousands are selling every month, and there’s no telling how long this discount will last.

I've Tried Expensive Canadian Whiskies, but I Always Go Back to This Cheap Bottle

Ask someone on the street to name Canadian whiskies. There’s no doubt that Crown Royal and Canadian Club would be first names out of the gate. After that, it may get a bit murky.

In that case, it's entirely plausible to have never heard of Alberta Premium, a dependable whisky from up north that deserves more notice in the U.S.—especially because the brand's cask strength expression was named the 2021 whiskey of the year.

Admittedly, Alberta Premium’s presentation could use a bit of a facelift. The bottle is rather plain, and the label isn't the sexiest. That said, looks being deceiving. If you pass this up thinking it’s just another cheap spirit, you're missing a diamond in the rough.

Canada is known for two types of whiskies: one of course is the 100-percent rye and the other is a grain blend. Its distilling laws also differ from the U.S. Distillers have a bit more leniency when crafting its spirits. While there certainly have been some wonderful and inventive bottles produced because of looser governance, it's still hard to beat a full rye whisky.

Want the latest whiskey news, deals, and reviews? Sign up for the Whiskey Wednesday newsletter.

Alberta Premium, though, is as Canadian as it gets, crafted by Alberta Distillers Limited, which has been doing business in the heart of Calgary since 1946. Alberta Premium's mash bill contains 100-percent Canadian prairie rye, setting it apart from numerous other competitors.

A good inhale infuses the nostrils with ripe banana, vanilla, and butterscotch notes. That butterscotch essence carries onto the palate as a light hint of walnut sneaks its way through. It’s not overpowering but just enough to let you know there’s more than meets the eye. There are quick hits of caramel and spice to round things out. The finish comes off a touch sharp at the end, but not so much that it throws off the entire taste.

It’s not overly complex, either. It doesn’t need to be. It's an easygoing whisky to drink, which makes it an ideal base for a solid old fashioned or sidecar. Though it's a go-to for cocktails, don’t discount it for neat sipping, though the distiller recommends a drop of water or ice cube. I agree with the recommendation, as I quickly found that slight dilution brought out sweetness and balance.

Although not sold everywhere, Alberta Premium is available across the United States. With a price point of $25, it’s extremely budget-friendly. There's the award-winning Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye available for those who want to take things to the next level, but it’s also twice the price. For what you get with your money, it’s worth keeping a bottle of classic Alberta Premium on your bar cart. You'll find yourself returning to it more frequently than you think.

What To Eat And Where To Eat At Anna Nagar, Chennai's Popular Street Food Hub

It's tough to imagine Anna Nagar as a buzzing food night spot. Back in the 1960s, this was a suburban village called Naduvakkari. It was the 1968 World Trade Fair that transformed this sleepy area into a much-sought-after residential neighbourhood in the 1970s. Wide, tree-lined avenues, renowned educational institutions, and well-planned infrastructure marked Anna Nagar's development as one of the city's premier residential neighbourhoods. Gradually, the main streets, like the arterial 2nd Avenue, became retail hubs, but it was still an area that had no real nightlife to boast of. That has changed, and how.

Former ‘Harry Potter’ Star Gives Blunt Review of Filming Hit Series

Jason Isaacs was a menacing presence as villain Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series, and now the star has admitted what he thought about the actual act of making the projects.

The Potter movies, which were released from 2001 to 2011, saw Isaacs portray Draco Malfoy’s (Tom Felton) father, Lucius, from the 2002 entry Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets to the final Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (he does not appear in Prisoner of Azkaban).

Isaacs looked back on creating the films during an appearance on BBC’s The One Show, explaining how making large-budget productions with lots of special effects can in fact be “boring” but that the stories they were documenting were “magical.”

“It’s a terrible confession to make, they weren’t that much fun to make. It’s quite boring, making big special effects films,” he told the program.

Related: The Real Reason 'Harry Potter' Star Daniel Radcliffe Got So Buff

While Isaacs may have given the filming portion a big yawn, he said everything was worth it to see the finished products.

“However the pleasures all come afterwards. I see and meet people for whom their lives were changed by it, and still people reading it and sharing with their children. Some people say their lives were saved by it and I believe it,” he said.

Isaacs is currently starring in the third season of the hit HBO drama The White Lotus.

Harry Potter will be returning to screens, the small kind this time around, with a new HBO series expected in 2026.

All eight Harry Potter movies are available to stream via Peacock.

Justin Bieber Hits Back at Drug Use Rumors

Justin Bieber has spoken up amid rumors of drug use and fan concern over his disheveled appearance in recent photos.

Representatives for Bieber and his wife, Hailey Bieber, issued a statement to Rolling Stone aimed at the public’s fascination with the artist’s physical and mental health, calling it “exhausting and pitiful and shows that despite the obvious truth, people are committed to keeping negative, salacious, harmful narratives alive.”

The representatives also added that the last year was “very transformative for him as he ended several close friendships and business relationships that no longer served him.”

Recent fan worry has stemmed from images showing the singer in public looking quite tired, with large dark circles around his eyes.

According to TMZ, the photos were taken after he had a sleepless night working in a recording studio and also caring for his son. The same report claims Bieber got sober from “prescription pills and other strong substances” more than a decade ago but still drinks alcohol socially.

“The recurring narrative that Justin is using hard drugs is absolutely not true,” his representatives said before adding he is “in one of the best places in his life.”

Bieber has been transparent about his drug use in the past, saying he was once at a point where his security would have to periodically check his pulse during the night to make sure he was alive.

“There was a sense of still yearning for more,” he said in a 2021 GQ interview. “It was like I had all this success and it was still like: ‘I’m still sad, and I’m still in pain. And I still have these unresolved issues,’ and I thought all the success was going to make everything good.”

Outside of music, the singer just joined Steve Carell and other celebrities in a hockey game raising funds for Los Angeles wildfire relief.

The Simple Trick That Personal Trainers Swear By to Make Pushups 10X More Effective

At the beginning of your fitness journey, there's a good chance personal trainers will tell you to hold off on the big three (squat, bench, and deadlift) in lieu of bodyweight moves to help get your bearings. Bodyweight exercises like pullups, dips, planks, and pushups can help you gain a strong foundation of strength and stability. Pushups, in particular, are among the most simple, but also the most challenging.

Pushups can build strength in your chest triceps, and delts. They're also incredibly easy to scale up or down.

Related: How to Make Kettlebell Swings Twice as Explosive With This Grip Change

Once you've mastered the basics, challenge yourself to get even more out of the move, certified personal trainer and weight loss specialist Brian Sutton, MA, MS, CSCS has a great tip.

"The decline pushup is a progression of the standard pushup," Sutton says. "By elevating your feet, you're working against gravity to lift more of your body weight, making the exercise more challenging."

By changing the plane of motion, you make this exercise more of a full-body challenge.

"This variation engages the core muscles more intensively to maintain proper form and stability," Sutton adds. "It can enable the exerciser to achieve a deep stretch of their pectoral muscles in the bottom position, which can help stimulate muscle growth."

How to Do a Decline Pushup

Decline Pushup

James Michelfelder

  1. Find an elevated surface such as a bench, box, or step that's sturdy and stable. Place your feet on the elevated surface, making sure your body forms a straight line from head to heels.
  2. Position your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart on the ground, with your arms fully extended and your hands directly under your shoulders.
  3. Engage your core and glutes to keep your body in a straight line throughout the movement.
  4. Lower your chest towards the ground by bending your elbows, keeping them close to your body. Lower yourself until your chest almost touches the ground.
  5. Push through your palms to straighten your arms and return to the starting position.
  6. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.

These Two Common Supplements May Slow Aging When Paired With Regular Exercise

Today almost everywhere you look people are searching for the fountain of youth. We're a society obsessed with staying young. But you might not have to turn to expensive creams or procedures to slow aging. In fact, taking two common supplements in combination with regular exercise may form a powerful anti-aging blend, per new research

Taking omega-3 and vitamin D supplements over a three-year period may slow biological aging by three to four months, according to the study published in Nature Aging. When combined with exercise, researchers observed even greater effects.

Related: I'm a Dietician. These 10 Healthy Grocery Stores Offer the Best Range of Organic Produce and Pantry Staples

For the study, researchers tracked 777 people 70 and older for three years and measured their biological age using epigenetic clocks—a tool used to estimate a person's biological age by analyzing DNA methylation patterns.

The study participants were divided into three groups—those who took 2,000 IU of vitamin D per day (equal to 50 micrograms (µg), the recommended daily amount for adults with low vitamin D levels), and/or 1 gram of omega-3 per day (equal to roughly three 1-gram fish oil capsules), and/or participated in a home exercise program.

When the three-year time period was up, researchers looked at blood samples from the participants. They found that individuals who combined daily omega-3 with vitamin D on top of exercise three times a week, slowed biological aging by roughly two to four months.

Not only was this mix linked to aging slower but previous research has shown it may also reduce prefrailty (a process that predisposes individuals to frailty) and the risk of developing certain types of invasive cancer. Plus, researchers also found that omega-3 alone reduced the rate of infection and the rate of falls in older populations.

“This result extends our previous findings from the DO-HEALTH study, in which these three factors combined had the greatest impact on reducing the risk of cancer and preventing premature frailty over a three-year period, to slowing down the biological aging process,” Heike Bischoff-Ferrari, the study’s lead researcher and a professor of geriatrics and geriatric medicine at the University of Zurich, said in a statement

Brunching In BKC: What We Enjoyed At The Newly Opened NMACC Arts Cafe

The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) has a chic new attraction on its premises: the Arts Cafe, situated next to the Art House on Level 3. The centre already houses other restaurants, but this cafe sets itself apart in multiple ways - through its corner location, its comfort food menu, its versatile spaces as well as its laid-back ambience. We recently had the chance to dine here and explore its offerings for ourselves. Since it was a Sunday, we also got to sample some of the delights from its brunch buffet.

The NMACC Arts Cafe is the brainchild of Isha Ambani. The establishment reflects her passion for art and her belief in the power of food to connect people, we're told. The space houses a variety of artworks, surrounding diners with fascinating aesthetic motifs. The message is clear: there's something your eyes, palate and mind can feast on. The interior design by Gauri Khan exudes understated elegance with natural elements, Art Deco details, a warm palette of earthy tones, and touches of brass and gold. Two stunning elements serve as the cafe's centrepieces: a 16-foot bar with a fluid, wave-like design and a slightly funnelled skylight that bathes much of the central room in sunlight. This also underlines the fact that this is one of the few BKC establishments with a strategic location to have a skylight as well as a decently sized open-air dining area. The other parts of the cafe are the lounge (where we sat during our meal) and a private dining room. The latter is equipped with a presentation screen and its own live kitchen, available for customised bookings on request.

The menu features a mix of Indian, Pan-Asian, Italian and other European flavours. The kitchen is led by Chef Tarang Joshi and Chef Joy Bhattacharya (Head of Culinary Services at Jio World Centre). Alongside soups, salads, pasta, pizzas and burgers, expect cafe-style staples like Avocado Toast and Chicken Wings as well as refined delicacies like roast chicken and Indian appetiser samplers. There's a standard array of desserts as well. But the brunch menu expands on this, including other crowd favourites and more breakfast options like dosas, idlis, pancakes, etc. These are available in addition to the buffet offerings and made on request. The grills and South Indian options are made at live counters situated in the al-fresco area. In the evenings, this terrace allows diners to enjoy panoramic views of the 'Fountain of Joy'.

We placed our initial orders and then made our way to the central part of the buffet arranged below the skylight. Sure enough, there were mezze elements, sushi, cold cuts and the like. But there were also many different types of butter, novel salads and dips that we were discovering for the first time. We were impressed with the novelty of the spread as well as its enticing artistic presentation. Fortunately, the sides we selected did not just look good - they won us over with their refreshingly balanced taste. Another highlight of the buffet not to be missed: a cheese table set at another end. We happily feasted on various kinds - ranging from Belper Knolle to Gulmarg Style Brie.

We appreciated this aspect of the brunch - all these larger dishes arrived freshly made and had not been simply lumped along with the other buffet items. We especially loved the wholesome Tofu Scramble with Sourdough Toast and the flavourful Roast Atlantic Salmon enhanced with furikake.

Later, we savoured an exquisite array of desserts, including Indian mithai-inspired creations as well as patisserie offerings like cheesecakes, tarts, chouquettes, chocolates and more. This is indeed what weekend binge dreams are made of! During our meal, we also sipped on drinks from the extensive beverage menu. It has craft cocktails, handpicked international wines, thoughtfully curated mocktails, gourmet coffee and more. During Sunday brunch, these are available a la carte.

Many of them are displayed in the lounge area and we liked its relatively quiet and relaxing ambience. The main dining room was abuzz with a live music performance and it was also heartwarming to see a few people grooving to the tunes. 'Yellowstone' Spinoff Star Issues Strong Warning To Amazon About James Bond's Future

Fans of the Yellowstone prequel 1923 might think of Timothy Dalton as the cruel and sadistic Donald Whitfield, but for James Bond fans he will always be the deadpan, brooding 007 from the late 1980s. Starring in just two Bond flicks—The Living Daylights (1987) and Licence to Kill (1989)—Dalton was deeply involved with the spy franchise during one of its other major periods of transition. After Licence to Kill, the Bond franchise faced legal troubles which meant there was a six-year gap between Dalton's last turn as Bond in 1989 and Pierce Brosnan's debut in 1995's GoldenEye. And now, with history (sort of) repeating itself, Dalton has shared his thoughts about the departure of the Broccoli family from the world 007.

"I was very, very surprised and shocked," Dalton told The Radio Times, echoing the general reaction from Bond fans and insiders alike. After six decades of one family running the James Bond movies, nobody, especially not extended members of that family, like Dalton, expected Barbara Broccoli to move on from Bond. "Barbara is, I think, a fabulous woman and a wonderful producer, as was her father, Cubby Broccoli, who I got on with very well and liked a lot," Dalton said.

Even though he only starred in two 007 flicks before passing the bowtie to Brosnan, Dalton still recalls his time as Bond fondly and says that he hopes that Amazon can retain the magic of the series without focusing solely on profits.

"It's a wonderful franchise," Dalton added, and recalled fondly that he first saw a classic Bond movie when he was "a kid." While wishing Amazon "good luck," he also noted, somewhat seriously, that quality matters more than anything. "They'll [Amazon] be doing their best to make a lot of money, so hopefully they will make good movies."

1923 Season 2 hits Paramount+ Plus on Sunday, February 23.

I’ve Reviewed More Than 3,000 Beers. This Award-Winning Brew Is My Desert Island Pick

I've been drinking and writing about beer professionally since 2006. Every year, without fail, I ask myself: What are my desert island beers?

In this tropical scenario, I'm stranded on an island with only three of my favorite beers. Two slots rotate between hop bombs, crisp lagers, and bold abbey ales. But one beer has remained in my lineup for years: Allagash White.

It wasn't easy for Allagash to earn its place. Today's beer aisles are an embarrassment of riches that include world-class craft options like Firestone Walker Pivo, St. Bernardus Abt 12, and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Sierra Nevada, for instance, is the quintessential American pale ale that's been subtly tweaked to perfection since brewer Ken Grossman's first batch 1980. But depending on my mood, I might reach for Three Floyds Zombie Dust or Carton Boat Beer to scratch my hoppy itch instead.

In the Belgian witbier style, however, Allagash White stands above the competition. Other world-class witbiers certainly exist. St. Bernardus makes a sublime option in Belgium, and Hitachino’s Nest Ale is superb when in Japan, but both must travel over oceans to reach my glass, losing character along the way. Allagash White, which is brewed in Maine, is more accessible to me and much fresher when I drink it.

Allagash White has won 18 medals at the biggest beer competitions in the world.

Matt Allyn

Its greatness is backed by history. Since its 1995 debut, Allagash White has won 18 medals at the three biggest beer competitions in the world: the Great American Beer Festival, World Beer Cup, and European Beer Star. When I contacted Allagash to check that number, they made sure I knew that no other wheat beer—Belgian-style or not—had ever won that many medals. I wasn’t surprised.

Allagash White checks many boxes. It's crisp and thirst-quenching. It has enough body to let me know I'm not drinking seltzer but not so much that I feel like I just drank a cookie. It’s also among the most complex beers that’s widely available. At its base are gentle layers of oats, wheat, and barley. Then, the natural spice profile of Belgian-style yeast blends with added coriander and orange peel. While some breweries add too much spice—which tastes as subtle as a kick to the shin—Allagash keeps it gentle.

That's not easy to pull off. Belgian ale yeast is particularly capricious and challenging for scores of brewers. If the water pH is a little off, or more likely, the fermentation temperature isn’t quite right, it won’t produce the defining clove and light fruit aromas and flavors. At worst, unhappy Belgian yeast delivers a beer that smells like Band-Aids and tastes no better.

In a market dominated by IPAs, Allagash White isn’t a particularly hoppy pick for an all-time beer. Although it’s made with a blend of American and Czech hops, their herbal oils serve to expand the verdant citrus character. Thankfully, I have two more desert island beers to get my lupulin fix.

Unfortunately, Allagash White isn't available everywhere, and for that, I apologize. Based in Portland, ME, Allagash distributes to 22 states from coast to coast. If it hasn’t reached your beer aisle, grab a case on your next road trip, book a ticket to Portland to taste it at the source, or find me on my desert island. I'll happily share.

If We Convince You to Wear One Piece of Jewelry, This Is It

Jewelry can be tricky territory for a lot of guys. Many hesitate to dip their toe (or finger or wrist) into the jewelry space, and I get it. It can feel like trying too hard and risking landing somewhere between Mark Zuckerberg's awkward makeover phase and that guy you know who wears a zillion of everything. But the right ring, bracelet, or necklace can be a subtle and chic way to add personality and polish to your overall fit. And yes, they can be masculine.

The key? Less is usually more. Sure, icons like Keith Richards and Johnny Depp can pile on jewelry like rock 'n' roll armor. No disrespect to ornate skull rings or funky geometric designs, but for most of us, keeping it simple works best.

If you're going to wear one ring this year, consider a signet ring. It's approachable, classic, stylish, and a great entry point for those uncertain about jewelry. A single signet ring makes a sleek statement without shouting and adds elegance and refinement to any outfit with a sense of history to boot. And if you're only choosing one, go for this oval tiger's eye sterling silver signet from Tom Wood. The rich, golden-brown stone adds depth for an understated, sophisticated addition to your look. Here's why it deserves a spot in your collection.

A Sense of History You Can Wear

Signet rings have been worn by stylish men for centuries. They trace their origins back to ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, where they served as personal seals to sign documents and signify power. By the Middle Ages, they became status symbols among European nobility, often engraved with family crests and used to stamp wax seals on letters. As technology phased out wax seals, signet rings evolved into heirlooms and marks of legacy. Today, you won't be using yours to stamp letters (or at least, we don't advise it). You wear one for its sense of history and aesthetic oomph. A signet ring transcends trends.

They are also back in the spotlight, and you don't need a family crest to wear one: Modern designs are elegant and effortlessly cool. To me, a signet ring channels both a badass attitude and, paradoxically, the polish of a well-dressed man (here's to you, Peaky Blinders). It's sleek but not stuffy, distinctive but not flashy. It works just as well with a T-shirt and jeans as a double-breasted suit. The right signet ring adds a quiet intrigue, making people wonder about your story.

Why This Tom Wood Signet Ring Stands Out

Tom Wood Oval Tiger Eye Signet Ring, From $479

The Materials

There are plenty of affordable options in steel or silver plating, but I’m all in for sterling silver. It has the weight, the longevity, and the heirloom-worthy quality that makes it suit the investment. This Tom Wood signet ring, available as either the Kay Ring Tiger Eye or Oval Tiger Eye, is crafted from solid 925 sterling silver with a polished finish. It’s plated with white rhodium to strengthen the surface and prevent tarnishing, meaning it will hold up beautifully for years.

As for the signet itself, most of us don’t have a noble family crest to engrave, but I love the idea of incorporating a stone. The Tom Wood ring features a tiger’s eye, a brownish-yellow stone with golden flecks that shimmer like, well, a tiger’s eye. It’s equal parts bold, regal, and handsome. Now, some more woo-woo folks out there will tell you tiger’s eye is believed to enhance focus, bring clarity, and even attract good luck. We don't know about all that, but we do know this: The mix of sterling silver with the deep, earthy richness of tiger’s eye creates a striking contrast and a sharp visual statement.

The Proportions

Signet rings can often go too dainty or too bulky. This oval design from Tom Wood gets it just right. You notice the ring, but it doesn’t take over your hand. Too small, and it disappears; too big, and it looks cartoonish. The sleek oval centerpiece showcases just enough stone without overwhelming your hand. There’s also a (less expensive) square version if that fits your aesthetic better, but for my money, the oval shape leans into tradition a bit more.

The Price

Silver rings with ornate gemstones can easily climb into the thousands. At under $500 (and under $350 for the square version), this investment piece won’t break the bank. It’s the kind of ring that feels substantial, not just in weight, but in significance. And folks will notice. The royalty who wore signet rings wouldn’t settle for steel or plating, and neither should you. This Tom Wood design offers accessible luxury that still feels special.

How to Wear It

Traditionally, signet rings were worn on the pinky of the non-dominant hand. Back in the day, this was practical—your dominant hand wrote the letter, and your signet ring hand sealed it. While the wax-stamping days are over, the pinky is still a go-to spot for a signet ring. That said, style rules are flexible. Some guys (like myself) prefer wearing theirs on the ring or index finger, and either hand works. My advice? Wear it where it feels right. Just remember that a signet ring's minimal silhouette tends to look best on a pinky or ring finger.

This Tom Wood Tiger’s Eye signet ring is above all, an approachable way to enter the world of men's jewelry. It's rich with tradition, has a purely elegant design, and just enough intrigue. You can wear it daily with a denim jacket and chinos or rock it for special occasions that demand polish. Wear one confidently, and be the calm, cool, collected, natty guy at any soiree. The guy about which others say, "Oh, wow, he really pulls off that ring, doesn't he?"

Bird Decimates Nose of Plane in Brazil, Forcing Emergency Landing

It seems like lately we don't go for more than a day without hearing about a major aviation mishap. As such, a flight in Brazil was forced to make an emergency landing on Thursday after colliding with a bird in mid-air, which caused some pretty jaw-dropping damage to the nose of the plane. And there are shocking photos to prove it.

Citing local media, TMZ reports that the LATAM Airlines Airbus A321 had just taken off from Galeao Airport in Rio de Janeiro en route for São Paulo on Thursday morning when it struck the bird, forcing it to turn back around.

Photos taken from the ground show the nose of the 200-passenger plane completely crumpled in. It's unclear what type of bird came in contact with the craft, as South America is home to many breeds of large birds capable of inflicting such damage. Just a few months ago, another small plane had to make an emergency landing in Brazil after a large vulture crashed through the cockpit.

Incredibly, airport officials said that no passengers were injured during the terrifying ordeal. And after the plane returned to the airport, they were all put on new flights.

In the wake of the incident, LATAM Airlines CEO Jerome Cadier took to LinkedIn to issue a rant about the incident.

"Just now, another bird strike," Cadier said in the post, which has been translated into English. "The aircraft returned safely but obviously the flight was cancelled, disrupting the lives of all passengers, and obviously the airline as well."

Cadier lamented that he expected legal action against the airline from passengers asking for monetary compensation over "moral damages" due to the cancellation of this flight. "And so follows Brazilian aviation … the question is: who pays the bill?" he added.

Earlier this week, Delta agreed to pay $30,000 to passengers who were aboard the ill-fated flight to Toronto that flipped over as it was touching down on the runway, amid snowy conditions and high winds. The payout will be "no strings attached," meaning that those who accept the money still have the option of bringing firth a lawsuit in the future.

What To Eat Before Your Period To Avoid Mood Swings

It is not uncommon to experience mood swings in the days leading up to periods. These emotional swings can go from mild irritability to more strong feelings of sadness or anxiety. While hormonal changes are an inevitable factor, lifestyle choices, particularly diet, can also influence these mood variations. If like many, you also struggle with sudden mood fluctuations, adding specific foods into your diet before your period may ease up the physical and emotional stress of your period. What To Eat Before Your Period To Avoid Mood Swings

1. Leafy Green Vegetables

Leafy greens like spinach, kale, fenugreek, etc, are rich in magnesium – a mineral that plays an important role in brain function and mood regulation. As per a research article published in the National Library of Medicine, magnesium can help alleviate symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), including mood swings and irritability. So, leafy greens can help you balance your mood!

2. Fatty Fish

Omega-3 is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and positive effects on mental health, according to a 2022 research paper published in The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Fish such as salmon, mackerel, and sardines are high in omega-3 fatty acids and an excellent source. Moreover, Omega-3s have been linked to reduced symptoms of depression and may help manage mood swings associated with PMS.

3. Nuts and Seeds

Almonds, walnuts, flaxseeds, and pumpkin seeds are great sources of essential fatty acids and magnesium. As mentioned above, these nutrients support neurotransmitter function, which can help stabilize mood and reduce PMS symptoms.

4. Whole Grains

Whole grains like brown rice, quinoa, and oats will provide you with complex carbohydrates that can increase serotonin levels in the brain, promoting a sense of well-being and reducing mood swings. This is the easiest way to elevate your mood during your menstrual days.

5. Fermented Foods

A healthy gut microbiome means improved mood which ultimately may help alleviate anxiety and depression symptoms associated with PMS, according to a research paper published in Frontiers in Nutrition. Common fermented foods like yoghurt, kefir, sauerkraut, and kimchi contain probiotics that support gut health. Eating these can help you keep your stomach and mood elevated.

Will Smith’s ‘Really Cool’ Plan for ‘Hancock 2’ Includes Emmy-Winning Marvel Star

Will Smith can’t help but tease sequel news 20 years after one of his biggest hits.

Smith starred in Hancock back in 2008, with the superhero movie taking in over $600 million on a reported $150 million budget. A follow-up was all but certain, but has remained simply an idea in the ensuing years.

Then Smith appeared on the xQc Twitch live stream and dropped some new nuggets of info—including a big casting rumor—about Hancock coming back, according to Variety.

“There’s a cool, really cool Hancock 2 idea. We haven’t even talked about it. I’m going to give you one little piece. Zendaya is being approached for a role in Hancock 2,” he said on Twitch.

The Peter Berg-directed Hancock took a different spin on the superhero movie by Smith portraying one as an amnesiac, alcoholic who would have to deal with all the damage he left behind when saving the world. Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron co-starred as a couple saved by Smith who then helped revamp his public persona.

Related: Will Smith Reflects on ‘Error’ of His Ways in Infamous ‘Fresh Prince’ Feud

One year after the original movie’s success, its director Berg said in an interview with MTV News that “everybody’s going to come back for a sequel.” As recently as 2020 Theron told ComicBook she would do a sequel “in a heartbeat.”

The movie’s production company Sony had no comment on a sequel. There has also been no public comment from Spider-Man and Euphoria star Zendaya.

Hancock is available to rent and buy on Apple, Amazon, and elsewhere. Check out the original trailer below.

The Next Animated 'Avatar' Series Sounds Very Promising

As Avatar: The Last Airbender celebrates its 20th anniversary, Nickelodeon is gearing up to continue the story. The network has announced a new series, Avatar: Seven Havens, which will run two seasons and 26 episodes of 30 minutes each.

The new series comes from the original’s creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, and is currently in production.

Nickelodeon states Seven Havens is set in “a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra—but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”

Related: Fans React to Major Character Change in Netflix’s ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender'

Creators DiMartino and Konietzko said they never thought they would still be writing in this universe 20 years on.

“When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later,” they said in a press release. “This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!”

Last Airbender debuted on Nickelodeon on February 21, 2005, and was set “in a war-torn world of elemental powers, a young boy reawakens to undertake a dangerous mystic quest to fulfill his destiny as the Avatar, and bring peace to the world.”

The original series consisted of three seasons and 61 episodes.

Seven Havens will be the third Avatar animated series, joining the original and The Legend of Korra, which ran for four seasons between 2012 and 2014.

A live-action Last Airbender movie was released on Netflix in 2024, although DiMartino and Konietzko left that series early on due to creative differences. A poorly received, M. Night Shyamalan-directed, live-action version hit theaters in 2010.

Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: The Legend of Korra can be watched on Paramount+ and Netflix.

Jelly Roll Brings Movement to the Masses With ‘Losers Run Club’ AKA the People's Run Club

If you've seen country star Jelly Roll's 140-pound weight loss, it's apparent his healthy journey is just getting started, and he's encouraging those around him to get onboard. Now, he's setting his sights on helping others be the healthiest version of themselves with the launch of "Losers Run Club."

In partnership with Strava, the run club includes a group on Facebook to hold members accountable, tips from his chef Ian Larios, and hacks to go from "couch to 5K" by ultramarathoner Matthew Johnson.

View the original article to see embedded media.

“A little bit over a year ago, I literally struggled to walk down my hill to the mailbox, y’all,” Jelly Roll said in an Instagram post. “I mean, it was really bad. I had let myself get to a point of just being absolutely disgusted with myself. I was so sick and tired of it.”

Around that time he saw a video posted by comics and 2 Bears, 1 Cave podcast hosts, Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura, who mentioned they were planning their own health event called 5K by May.

“I knew right then that if there was ever a place that I was gonna feel safe trying to do my first 5K, it was going to be at the 2 Bears 5K,” he said.

This comes about a year after Jelly Roll completed his first 5K in May 2024 with the help of his team. Because of the help he received on his quest to run his first mini-marathon, Jelly Roll wants to pay it forward.

“What we are trying to inspire here is just change and belief and community,” he said. “Somewhere where you can go and feel judgment-free when you’re trying to figure this thing out. I know how rough it was at first and how embarrassed I was to just be sucking snot and air every time I walked down the driveway. But it felt so good to have friends and people behind me, telling me I was doing the right thing.”

There's no doubt about it, Jelly Roll is still full steam ahead and now he's on a mission to bring his resources to anyone trying to better their health.

"I think that's a special thing about him," Larios told Men's Journal. "He's trying to actively change himself so he can continue helping others, it's like that's his purpose right now. He knows that once he gets this health journey kicking in and moving, he's only gonna be able to help more and more people."
