UFC Drug-Testing Stats Show Conor McGregor Outpacing Other Fighters on One Key Statistic

Conor McGregor hasn't been in a UFC fight since 2021, but the Irish mixed martial artist is still under a microscope with the organization. UFC's partnership with Drug Free Sport International is now in place after parting ways with the United States Anti-Doping Agency, and its anti-doping program continues to highlight how UFC is stamping out the issue.

In an effort to combat doping, UFC provides a public anti-doping database of all of the registered athletes on its roster and discloses how often they're tested. In 2024 so far, nearly all of the fighters have been tested once, with a handful having been tested twice; this includes UFC stars Alexander Volkanovski, Ilia Topuria, Dricus Du Plessis, and Sean Strickland. As The Independent notes, McGregor has already been tested five times this year, despite having spent years outside the octagon.

McGregor suffered a broken leg in a July 2021 fight against Dustin Poirier, but the former UFC champ is ready to get back in the action. He previously announced that he would be making his return to the octagon this June at International Fight Week, but UFC president Dana White said last month that the timeline isn't as firm as McGregor would like. "Hopefully [it happens] this year. There is no date," he said on The Pat McAfee Show. "I’m hoping for the fall. [Hopefully] we get it done in the fall."

For now, McGregor has been putting his focus on another arena: the movie business. The Irish fighter is making his acting debut in the new Jake Gylenhaal-led flick Road House, a remake of the beloved 1989 action movie.
