Taco Bell debuted a new Cantina Chicken Menu this week featuring five high-end options made with premium ingredients. It seems as though the chain is attempting to break the mold with the new offerings and prove that "Taco Bell isn't just for late night."
The new menu features "premium, slow roasted chicken and new fresh ingredients" cooked with "a savory seasoning of Mexican spices including garlic, onions and a variety of chilies." The fresh new ingredients include shredded purple cabbage, white corn tortilla shell fried daily, freshly-prepared pico de Gallo, and a new Avocado Verde Salsa made with tomatillos, green chili peppers, and real avocado pulp. The latter ingredient was developed specifically to complement the Cantina Chicken menu.
The new offerings, which include a Cantina Chicken Soft Taco, Cantina Chicken Crispy Taco, Cantina Chicken Burrito, Cantina Chicken Quesadilla, and Cantina Chicken Bowl will be available nationwide starting March 21. In the meantime, Rewards Members can try the new items early by ordering on the mobile app.
“This Cantina Chicken menu has been a labor of love and we’ve worked tirelessly to ensure we landed on the best slow roasted chicken recipe and selected the finest supporting ingredients to maximize craveability,” said Global Chief Food Innovation Officer Liz Matthews in a statement to Parade. “As we constantly listen to our audiences, we know that a winning equation is giving them what we know they want plus something next-level."
"We knew our fans wanted more chicken, and we also knew that we could elevate chicken with unexpected ingredients like purple cabbage and Avocado Verde Salsa," Matthews added.
The premium items arrive just months after the chain launched a revamp of its Cravings Value Menu with 10 items costing less than $3 and new offerings such as new additions, such as the Cheesy Enchilada Burrito and 3-Cheese Chicken Flatbread Melt. However, Taco Bell eliminated fan favorite menu items including the Fiesta Veggie Burrito and Chipotle Ranch Grilled Chicken Burrito to make room for the new additions, to an outcry from loyal customers.
Subject to location, the new Cantina Chicken Menu items will range in price between $2.99 and $7.99.
