Carlos Alcaraz Describes Jannik Sinner Relationship After Wimbledon Loss

Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz opened up about his relationship with Italian competitor Jannik Sinner after Alcaraz lost a thrilling match to Sinner at Wimbledon.

"I mean it’s difficult to lose, you know. It’s always difficult to lose. I have to congratulate Jannik once again. Unbelievable, two weeks here in London playing great tennis," said Alcaraz on court after getting the runner-up trophy.

"It was the dream of the dream," Sinner said for his part. "I'm just living in my dream. It's amazing."

Alcaraz told the crowd that he was "happy to be able to build a really good relationship off the court" with Sinner, which was a sentiment that Sinner echoed in his own comments.

Alcaraz also cited the great rivalry between them on the court, saying that it made him "improve every day."

"A lot of fans are watching you here in the finals. Amazing team around you," Alcaraz told Sinner.

"Keep it going," he declared, "Happy for you."

Alcaraz pledged that the rivalry would continue despite the pair's friendship.

"For sure, I am going to be back. Wimbledon is one of the most, if not the most, beautiful tournament we have on tour," Alcaraz said.

"I feel at home every time I come here. It’s a beautiful court. I love playing here. I love playing in front of all of you. It is insane every time I play here. Thank you. I am going to be back for sure," he said.

He also gave a shout-out to King Felipe of Spain, who was in the royal box, thanking him for flying from England in support.

Sinner also said that the two have an "amazing relationship off the court. On the court, we try to build up." He told Alcaraz, "You have the best team, so keep going, keep pushing. You are going to hold many times. You have already too." Then he laughed, a likely reference to Alcaraz winning a classic French Open final against Sinner recently.
