'The Last of Us' Creator Makes Bold Season 2 Comparison

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, The Last Of Us show co-creator Craig Mazin revealed how season 2 raises the bar for the series, even going as far as to make a lofty comparison.

In the interview, Mazin compared season 2 of The Last Of Us to The Empire Strikes Back, the second installment in the Star Wars franchise.

“I think about that a lot—because I love The Empire Strikes Back, and I think everybody should,” Mazin says. “We love that one because the second act is the tough act. That’s when everything is challenged and characters go through these moments where they can’t be who they used to be, but they’re also not ready to be who they’re supposed to be. There’s a sense of feeling lost. And I love that.”

The HBO drama, which is based on the acclaimed PlayStation game of the same name, follows Joel (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler tasked with escorting immune teenager Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across a post-apocalyptic United States, which is in the midst of a fungal zombie pandemic that causes the collapse of society.

During the interview, Mazin acknowledged what he learned from the first season of The Last Of Us that he applied to the second.

“Making a first season of television, especially one of that size, is like building a plane in the air. We learned how to improve our process, which means basically more efficiency,” Mazin continued. “Combined with more money from HBO, we could do a lot more. We certainly got much better at portraying the Infected.”

Compared to the first season, the scope of season 2 of The Last Of Us has expanded, if the trailers are anything to go by. Mazin added that he’s excited for audiences to meet this season’s new characters.

“Watching Joel and Ellie is special in this season, but our community of Ellie and Dina [newcomer to the show Isabela Merced] is special,” Mazin added. “Ellie and Jesse [newcomer to the show Young Mazino] have this remarkable friendship.

 Season 2 of The Last of Us is set to premiere on HBO on April 13, 2025.

'NYPD Blue' Star Finds Herself in Trouble With the Law

When you play a detective for 137 episodes of a cop-procedural television show, you never want to find yourself on the other side of the law. Former NYPD Blue star Kim Delaney, who played Detective Diane Russell, found herself in handcuffs on March 29 in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Police Department was called to her home for a domestic disturbance, per TMZ. Delaney and her partner (it's unclear if they are officially married), James Morgan, were allegedly involved in a verbal argument that turned physical. The media outlet reported that they were "medically cleared," but they both found themselves in handcuffs.

Delaney was charged with felony assault likely to cause great bodily injury while Morgan was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence. Delaney's entanglement with law enforcement isn't a new experience for her though.

In 2002, Delaney was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving in Malibu after refusing to take a breathalyzer test. She pleaded no contest and received two years’ probation, a fine, and was ordered to take a defensive driving course. A year later, she checked herself into a rehab facility to deal with her alcohol abuse.

Her struggles continued just two years later when she lost custody of her 15-year-old son, Jack Cortese, whom she shares with ex-husband Joe Cortese. The teen testified that he was forced to ride with her while she was allegedly intoxicated. In 2011, Delaney had fans worried after she delivered a slurry speech at an event honoring the retiring Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

Delaney was sued by a motorcyclist in 2024 for reportedly crashing into him at a red light in November 2022. She drove away ahead of the police's arrival. She had to complete 50 hours of community service for the accident and attend a Mothers Against Drunk Driving program (MADD).

Auburn Cheerleaders Stun With Photos Before Elite Eight

The Auburn Tigers were victorious over the Michigan Wolverines on March 28, with a 78-65 win, cinching their spot in the Elite Eight. Now, Auburn will go up against Tom Izzo and the Michigan State University Spartans on March 30, and the winning team will advance to the Final Four.

With Auburn being the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament, the Tigers are favorites to beat the Spartans. But, Auburn coach Bruce Pearl doesn't necessarily think this is going to be an easy win. On March 29, he told reporters that Michigan State, which has a program that's historically very successful, could be favored, in his eyes.

"Most of our guys are guys that were mid-majors or junior college or Division II," Pearl said via ESPN. "I'm not going to let Michigan State play the underdog card even though we're a No. 1 seed and they're a No. 2 seed. No, they're Michigan State. They're Kansas. They're Duke. They're North Carolina and we're Auburn."

He added, "We know our place. We know what we're trying to go up against, and we know the uphill battle that it is when you play against a Hall of Fame coach and, obviously, a legendary program."

The Auburn Tigers cheerleaders have been cheering the team on for the entire weekend. On March 29, the team took to Instagram to share their excitement over the Elite Eight showing. In a collection of photos, the squad showed off their cheerleaders celebrating on the court with the team's mascot. "Elite day," they stated in the caption of the post with a bunch of exclamation marks.

Popular Coffee Recalled in 15 States

A popular coffee brand has been recalled in 15 states.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall on its website, describing the product as, "Coffee Roasters Our Family Traverse City Cherry artificially flavored decaf light roast ground coffee."

The recalled coffee is "distributed by the Spartannash Company" in Grand Rapids, MI, according to the FDA, which described the affected product as weighing 12 ounces.

The FDA gave the UPC as "0 70253 11080 1."

The coffee recall was initiated by the company, according to the FDA's announcement. "Product was shipped to distribution centers and retail stores in the following states: CO, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MI, MN, NC, ND, NE, OH, SD, WI and WY," the FDA wrote.

The reason for the recall was given as "mislabeling."

"Mislabeling. A portion of the production of Our Family Traverse City Ground Coffee was mislabeled as decaffeinate," the FDA's announcement says.

According to Good Housekeeping, the recall is a Class II recall, which means it was initiated because "a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."

The FDA's announcement does not provide next steps for consumers but does provide a number of details on its website.

The FDA has a roundup of recent recalls and safety alerts on its website. The products under recall include everything from brioche buns to chicken salad. Reasons for various recalls of other products on the FDA website range from "microbial contamination" to the presence of "undeclared milk."

Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf each have an incredible legacy in the game of tennis. Although they’ve both retired from the sport, they’ve kept up the spirit of competition through their love of pickleball.

"We don’t play each other. We prefer to be on the same side of the court,” admitted 55-year-old Graff to People. That competitive edge, which kept them at the top of their game as elite athletes, probably shined through during their pickleball matches. Graff collected 22 Grand Slam titles throughout her storied career while Agassi has eight Grand Slam titles to his name. 

The tennis stars, who have been married for 24 years and have two children, son Jaden, 23, and daughter Jaz, 21, share more than just love on the tennis court. "We love cooking together," Agassi told E! News in March 2024.. "We love hiking together. We love even grocery shopping together, dividing and conquering. So, it's real life. And we're blessed."

The 54-year-old retired USTA athlete has advice for anyone wanting a successful marriage. 

"Choose wisely," he joked. Agassi was previously married to actress Brooke Shields from 1997 to 1999, so he has experience in trying to make a marriage work. “There's a respect, there's a discipline, there's a commitment,” he noted about his marriage to Graff. “And then you need two that are doing that, everything else will get in balance. And we work on it every day, and I'll never stop."

Joe Rogan Shares His 3-Word Take on the Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, & Justin Baldoni Legal Drama

Joe Rogan just provided his brief assessment of the current chaos involving Blake Lively, her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni, and her husband, Ryan Reynolds. 

Although Rogan expanded on his views somewhat, during the March 22 episode of his The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, he initially narrowed it down to a three-word phrase. 

"They f___ed up," Rogan declared of Lively and Reynolds. 

Rogan then noted that Reynolds is "trying to get out of it now, trying to get out of the lawsuit" and added, "Now, like, you are a key part of this."

The podcaster suggested that Reynolds and Lively came out pushing so hard against Baldoni because they "were trying to take over the movie and the whole franchise."

He added, "The whole thing's crazy." Rogan made it clear he supported Baldoni in the conflict and suggested that Lively and Reynolds "Just never thought that anybody was going to come out with the receipts."

In addition, Rogan suggested that "Everyone's scared" of Lively and Reynolds, "Because Ryan's A-list, Blake Lively, A-list, like, 'Don't, they're the queens and kings.'"

The comments Rogan made received a fair amount of positive feedback online, even from people who are typically critics of his. 

"I love that Joe called them out," one person shared on Instagram.

"I don't normally agree with Joe Rogan, but he's right on this one," another Instagram user wrote.

"For once I agree with him," someone else admitted.

Nikki Glaser Admits She Tried to Hook Up with Hollywood Star

Nikki Glaser, the famous comedian who has truly blown up in recent years, is brutally honest about her dating life.

The 40-year-old comedian has been dating her boyfriend, Chris Convy, on and off for more than a decade. However, there have been several points during their relationship where Glaser was single and ready to mingle. Glaser admitted that she used to be on the dating app, Raya - home of the rich and famous - and had her eyes on a particular celebrity.

Glaser discussed her dating app intentions with Gwyneth Paltrow during Tuesday’s episode of her “Goop Podcast.”

Glaser admitted that she had her eyes on longtime Hollywood star Ben Affleck, who used to date Paltrow. The "Se7en" actress teased Glaser about her attempts to hook up with her ex-boyfriend.

“When I used to be on Raya and he would come across, [I would give him a] very concentrated check mark ‘yes’ and, like, never [got] it back,” she admitted.

Paltrow, of course, dated Affleck on and off from 1997 to 2000. Glaser admitted that while Affleck caught her eye, there were many truly famous celebrities - especially actors - on the dating app.

Glaser added that Affleck was not the only notable Hollywood star to turn her down on the app. Andrew Garfield, who has starred in movies like "Spiderman" and "Hacksaw Ridge," also refused to match with her.

“I know for a fact he had to have seen my profile. … I would have matched with him if he was interested," she admitted.

Paltrow added: “That would have been a good one. He’s gorgeous. … Now he regrets it.”

Affleck, meanwhile, has made headlines in the past for his Raya usage, though his reps maintain that he has not been active on the dating app for several years.

Latest Hawk Tuah Girl Project Promises to Reveal 'Bizarre' Truth Behind Meme

Haliey Welch, better known as "The Haktuah Girl," will soon be under a different spotlight.

As first reported by Deadline, Welch will be the subject of an upcoming documentary helmed by the Emmy-winning production company Bungalow Media + Entertainment. That production company is behind some of the most riveting documentaries, including Cyber Sleuths: The Idaho Murders and Surviving Jeffrey Epstein.

The project is being described as a documentary that "will chronicle how Welch, a young woman from a small-town with no active social media presence, unknowingly created a viral moment that gave way into a global phenomenon."

And for the record, Welch is participating in the project. Her management company, The Penthouse, will executive produce on the project.

"I hope y'all been enjoying the crazy stories about 'my life' unfold on social media," said Welch in a statement via Deadline. First, I was dead. Then pregnant. Deadline reports that the documentary will include interviews with Welch and those close to her.

Welch shot to fame in 2024 following her interview on the YouTube show, Tim & Dee TV, in which she was asked what's one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time.

"Ah, you gotta give it that hawk tuah and spit on that thing," she answered.

Since then, Welch earned a massive social media following, including nearly 2 million followers on TikTok and more than 2.5 million followers on Instagram. She launched a merch line and a podcast. But she came under fire after her Hawk Tuah NFT was accused of being a "crypto scam."

Welch later broke her silence as the lawsuits began to mount.

Meghan Trainor has a new look — and fans are going wild over it.

The "Made You Look" singer, 31, took to Instagram in mid-March to show off her dramatic new look after losing weight. She captioned a series of photos with the outline of a heart emoji and nothing more.

Trainor shared seven new photos in the set. In the pics, she posed in a long white T-shirt dress with a tulle overlay. She accessorized with knit arm warmers and a pair of white boots with thick white socks.

Fans couldn't help but notice that Trainor looked slimmer.

Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, are undeniably relieved after receiving some good news. About three months after moving to Cotswold in the UK, the couple has unloaded one of their U.S.-based homes.

According to People magazine, DeGeneres and Rossi listed their two-bedroom, two-bathroom home in West Hollywood for $4.9 million — and it has sold.

A rep from Riskin Partners Estate Group told the outlet that the home received "multiple offers" since it was first listed and revealed that the former talk show host and her wife accepted an offer that was about $300,000 above asking price. 

Back in August 2024, the Wall Street Journal reported that DeGeneres and de Rossi sold their home in Santa Barbara County for some $96 million. The estate was scooped up by Singapore-based tycoon Robert Friedland.

As for why DeGeneres, 67, and de Rossi, 52, decided to move across the pond, sources say that the comedian simply fell in love with England on a recent visit.

"Ellen was in England house hunting in the beginning of October. She ended up finding a house that she loved and purchased it shortly after," a source told People in an article published in November 2024.

"They hung out with Lisa Hogan and James Blunt, and The Corrs performed at the pub," the source added.

However, other outlets, such as TMZ, have reported that DeGeneres and de Rossi's big move was in direct response to the outcome of the 2024 election.

Hallmark Announces Exciting New Series

It's not Christmas right now, but the Hallmark Channel is keeping viewers entertained with plenty of small screen action during the so-called offseason.

Now, Hallmark is getting into the makeover docuseries business. The company has announced a new TV show, called Home is Where the Heart is, starring actor-woodworker Luke Macfarlane and co-host and designer Olivia Westbrooks.

The series, which marks the first true makeover series from Hallmark, "follows Macfarlane as he channels his woodworking skills to help families in and around Atlanta transform a special room in their home, which has been inherited or holds a sentimental meaning to the owners," according to House Beautiful. "He works with cohost and designer Westbrooks to draw on the past and present to refresh to interiors while maintaining soul and charm."

Home is Where the Heart is only available via Hallmark+. The first two episodes of the series are already available, and new episodes will arrive every Thursday through April 17.

Macfarlane is no stranger to the Hallmark Channel, as he has appeared in the Hallmark flicks Christmas Land to A Valentine's Match, Notes of Autumn, Taking a Shot at Love and more. Being part of a show about building is a perfect fit for the Los Angeles-based Canadian actor.

"Building has always been a part of what my family did together," MacFarlane told House Beautiful. "My father was a wonderful teacher, and when I was 12, my parents did an addition to our family kitchen and my sisters and I were unpaid general labor."

Macfarlane adds that with Home is Where the Heart, he enjoys the opportunity to use his skills for needy families, telling House Beautiful, "The truth is, most people simply do not have the time, money, or ability to transform their environment, but it can make a huge difference in how they feel."

Westbrooks, an Atlanta-based interior designer, tells House Beautiful, "Working with these families to help transform the homes that hold so many memories while also honoring their loved ones was my way of doing just that—giving them what I had longed for."
