Massive outdoor clothing and gear sales from retailers like REI, Huckberry, and even Amazon have all come and gone this summer, but Patagonia has just stepped into the ring with its own markdown event that's giving shoppers up to 40% off popular shorts, sun hoodies, and even legendary fleece layers for this coming fall until Sept. 2.
The sale includes nearly 350 styles for men, including top sellers like Patagonia's Baggies shorts and the ever-popular Refugio Daypack, as well as essentials like tech tees and all-season baselayers. Though it's summer, Patagonia's outerwear, including the Nano Puff jacket, Torrentshell rain jackets, and a ton of fleece is still a major part of the sale, offering shoppers a chance to stock up before newer full-priced styles drop. After Men's Journal browsed through Patagonia's summer sale selection, we found five styles worthy of an immediate add-to-cart.
Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket in Forge Grey, $167 (was $239) at Patagonia
Patagonia's Nano Puff jacket is one of the brand's most iconic three-season lightweight jackets. Windproof and water-resistant, this quilted and lightly insulated jacket has a tremendous warmth-to-weight ratio, and can be easily packed into itself when not in use—a handy feature for travelers seeking better in-flight lumbar support. This Nano Puff jacket is on sale in seven colors and comes in sizes XS through 3XL.
What Shoppers Are Saying: "This jacket is probably my favorite piece of gear. I’m currently on my second one and also on the second Nano Puff vest. I often work in the Northern Rockies and this is always either on me or in my pack as my emergency layer."

Patagonia Capilene Cool Daily Graphic Hoody in Lago Blue X-Dye, $48 (was $69) at Patagonia
Sun hoodies are wildly popular right now among fishermen, construction workers, hikers, and more because they provide breathable protection from the sun without having to lather your entire body up with sunscreen. This one from Patagonia takes it a step further with a high neckline and a deep hood that can stretch over the brim of a cap. These hoodies are going fast in both the regular and the relaxed fits, so if you find one that's your size, scoop it up quickly.
What Shoppers Are Saying: "These shirts breathe nicely on a hot day, and have good sun coverage. Also, they don’t seem to capture one’s body odors in the material…It’s oversized (large) for me—6-foot and 180 pounds—but it's comfortable to wear for hiking, biking, and stand-up paddle boarding."

The Baggies shorts are some of Patagonia's most storied, and right now, you can snag a pair at perhaps the perfect length for less than $40. A 6.5-inch inseam will drape a few inches above the knee for most guys—the ideal length for running, impromptu swims, and everyday wear. Combine that with the water-repellent coating, quick-dry fabric, and the fact that it stuffs into its own pocket and you've got yourself a summer staple. They're available in size XS through 2XL but selling fast.
What Shoppers Are Saying: "Much better than standard Baggies…I find myself wearing them all day without realizing it. It's also nice to be able to jump in the water at any time."

This classic Patagonia fleece vest is the ideal layer for days that fluctuate in temperature, and it's the perfect neutral color for fall. Vests from Patagonia's Retro X, Retro Pile, and Nano Puff collections are also on sale.
What Shoppers Are Saying: "Love this vest. Looks a little upscale because of the sweater knit exterior, but it still has the fleece lining. Fit is on point. It's a great fall vest and I can't wait to wear it."

It also has a spacious primary compartment, a vertical zipper compartment on the outside, and even a bike light clip at the bottom. To top it off, it comes with two ultra-stretchy water bottle pockets that can hold models of nearly any size.
