A cyclist in Milwaukee was out for an easy-going ride on Tuesday, Aug. 27. But what should've been an enjoyable outing turned into a near-death experience.
A front doorbell camera captured a large tree crashing down onto the middle of a road in a Milwaukee neighborhood during a thunderstorm. The tree took down a nearby powerline with it, sending sparks into the air.
Just seconds later, the video shows a cyclist who was unable to slow down in time to avoid colliding with the fallen tree. Fortunately, he managed to escape serious injury, in part thanks to his speed at the time of the crash.
Had the tree fallen just a moment later, the cyclist could've found himself in extreme danger. Watch this:

A neighborhood resident spoke with local news about the frightening experience.
"It pulled out the ground," Fred Powers said, via WISN.com. "The whole roots. I'm telling you, I heard a boom; shook the whole house. It cut off all the power."
Hopefully, this serves as a reminder to check those weather reports before venturing outdoors.
