André Cavalcanti, a Brazilian bodybuilder known among his local community in Paraná, has died in a horrific motorcycle crash. He was only 34 years old.
IFBB Paraná, his local International Fitness and Bodybuilding Federation chapter, mourned his death in a July 5 Instagram post.
"It is with great sadness that we announce that our Pro Support athlete André Cavalcanti passed away this morning in a motorcycle accident," the post's caption read. "It was such a young life, full of plans."
"We ask God to comfort his family with the news of this tragedy," the post continued. "André was a great athlete, friend, [and] partner and he will always be remembered as the honest and dedicated person that he was. We've had a great loss here on Earth, but heaven gains a gift."
According to TMZ, the accident happened when a 17-year-old allegedly took his parents' car without permission and brought two underage friends along for a joyride on the BR-369 highway. The car reportedly collided head-on with Cavalcanti on his motorcycle, bucking him from the bike and leaving him with horrific injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was taken to a nearby hospital.
It remains to be seen just what fate the driver and passengers might face for the accident.
