Convicted murdered Danelo Cavalcante is still on the loose nearly two weeks after breaking out of a Pennsylvania correctional facility, and has inexplicably seemed to stay one step ahead of authorities. However, that may soon change as Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman is reportedly considering getting involved in the manhunt.
Chapman, who along with his late wife Beth Chapman starred in the A&E series Dog the Bounty Hunter from 2004–2012, has been monitoring the case since Cavalcante first broke out of prison, according to TMZ. The outlet reports that Chapman is "actively keeping tabs on any developments."
The 70-year-old is said to have been "making a lot of phone calls over the past several days," to both his sources within law enforcement as well as other contacts, so he can get up to speed with the ongoing situation.
Chapman is even supposedly considering flying out to Chester County, PA as early as this week to assist in the search for Cavalcante. The only caveat is that Chapman is not familiar with the area, but sources say he'll join the manhunt if he can get a proper plan together.
Cavalcante broke out of Chester County Prison by crab walking up out of a brick passageway next to the jail yard on Aug. 31 and passing through razor wire on the roof of the facility. However, by the time he was discovered to have been missing during an inmate count, nearly an hour had passed and he was long gone.
The manhunt took on new life over the weekend after Cavalcante managed to steal a van and flee the area around Longwood Gardens where he had been hiding. As of Monday night, he reportedly broke into an East Nantmeal Township and stole a .22-caliber Ruger rifle. Police now consider him to be armed and dangerous.
