Apple Raises Trade-in Value for Select iPhone Models

If you're thinking about upgrading your iPhone this summer, then Apple has some good news. The company has raised the trade-in value for select iPhone models, with the iPhone 13 Pro Max fetching up to $640 when you buy through Apple.

That's up from $600 for an iPhone 13 Pro Max in good condition. The trade-in value for the iPhone 13 Pro is likewise up to $530 from $500, while the original iPhone 13 saw a modest increase of $420 from $400. Select iPhone 12 models also saw a bump, with the ‌iPhone 12 Pro Max‌ up to $460 from $420, and iPhone 12 Pro up $360 from $330.

The newly adjusted trade-in values aren't as high as when they peaked in 2022—although it's still on an upward trajectory from when prices plummeted in January. At the time, an iPhone 13 Pro Max could be traded in for just $570.

However, as Apple has phased out the iPhone mini with the release of the iPhone 14, those models have taken a hit. The iPhone 13 mini is down $20 to $330, while the iPhone 12 mini saw the biggest drop from $250 to $200.

Apple has not commented on why it's raising trade-in values for some modes. But Yahoo! points out that the company is likely trying to make a push to unload iPhone 14 models heading into the summer before launching the highly anticipated iPhone 15 in the fall.

In either case, it seems like the perfect time to upgrade for anyone who has been holding onto an old iPhone and doesn't care about owning the newest version. And while trade-in values might not have seen an increase for models prior to the iPhone 12, Apple cutting support for older models might just be the incentive you need.
