On Monday, Xbox announced new, limited design Xbox controllers that emit the cozy, reassuring odor of warm, cheesy pizza.
The ooze-green colored controllers are designed to tie in with the upcoming movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which stars everyone's favorite pizza-obsessed turtles. The controllers come in four different variations for Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo—each reflecting the individual turtles personalities, fighting style, and respective samurai weapons of choice.
On the back of each controller is a pizza slice-shaped scent diffuser which gives off an aroma of—you guessed it— pizza. Xbox will send along with each controller a small vial of pizza scent, which can be used to refill the controller’s diffuser. (Or play pranks on hungry family members.) Every controller is even shipped in pizza box inspired packaging.

However, Xbox isn’t selling these controllers. Fans of the Ninja Turtles, or even just pizza in general, must enter to win one of the four controllers by following Xbox Game Pass on the platform formally known as Twitter, and by retweeting the official Xbox sweepstakes. The contest will run from July 24 until August 13, with lucky winners selected from a pool of eligible entrants.
While the controllers are being introduced to promote Mutant Mayhem, Xbox is also using them to push its Game Pass subscription service. In an official press release, the company even makes special mention of games that would pair particularly well with their pizza-scented controllers.
Xbox is hardly new to the world of custom products.
In 2018, the company partnered with Taco Bell to give away consoles that chimed the fast-food chain’s famed “bong” sound effect when it turned on. In 2021, reacting to criticism that the company's latest console resembled a mini-fridge, Xbox went out and designed a literal mini-fridge that sold out within moments of its release.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, featuring the voices of Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Rose Byrne, and Jackie Chan, to name a few, hits theaters on August 2.
