Kansas City Reportedly Asked Taylor Swift to Skip the Super Bowl Parade

Taylor Swift may have had a hand in ushering in the most-watched Super Bowl in television history, but Kansas City officials would rather that she skipped the parade taking place on Wednesday, Feb. 13. While Las Vegas is equipped to handle Swiftie mania, the Missouri city doesn't exactly have the resources or infrastructure to handle the potential influx of crowds.

Kansas City Manager Brian Platt told the local NPR station KCUR 89.5 that city officials expect that a possible Taylor Swift appearance will drive people hoping to catch a glimpse of the pop star to the event. Whereas last year's event was attended by about one million fans, even a potential Swift sighting could eclipse that number.

Platt also said that Chiefs fans may even want to line up along the parade route the night before in order to secure a spot.

"That's gonna be a whole second level of security issues that we have to deal with—the crowds and all that sort of thing,” he explained. "So we are more than ready. We have no concerns with our safety protocols and what we're doing to make sure that the route will be free of any issues."

However, he also noted that Swift's team may or may not have been warned against the 34-year-old attending the parade for security reasons.

"I can't confirm or deny but we might have already told that to her team, just to keep everybody safe and make things a little bit easier for us," Platt added.

Of course, given Swift's Eras tour schedule, it's entirely possible that logistics-wise, she could still show to up support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. The singer was able to just make it to the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 11 after wrapping up a stint of sold-out concerts in Tokyo. Next, she heads to Melbourne to kick off the Australia leg of her tour on Feb. 16.

If Swift does attend the parade, details will presumably be kept under wraps to prevent pandemonium from breaking loose.
