Popular Tourist Destination to End Recreational Cannabis Sales

Thailand is considered by many to be one of the most socially progressive countries in Asia, and in recent years, the legalization of cannabis for recreational use added to that image. But the southeast Asian country is reversing course on its historic decision.

Cholnan Srikaew, the country's health minister, spoke to Reuters about the changes coming to the nation's cannabis policy. While the plant will still be allowed for medical use, recreational cannabis use will be illegal once again by the end of this year, two years after the legislature moved to make it accessible to all who want it.

"Without the law to regulate cannabis it will be misused," Cholnan said of recreational use. It all stems from a handful of laws that were quickly enacted after the drug was decriminalized that he believes didn't have adequate guardrails for the burgeoning industry. "The misuse of cannabis has a negative impact on Thai children," he said. "In the long run it could lead to other drugs."

The government is currently working to pass a draft bill before the end of this year that will eliminate legal recreational cannabis use and regulate the industry, which is projected to be worth up to $1.2 billion by next year. The previous government was unable to pass legislation before last May's general election, leaving the country without a wide-reaching law to regulate cannabis use.

"In the new law, cannabis will be a controlled plant, so growing it would require permission," Cholnan said. "We will support [cannabis cultivation] for the medical and health industry."

Tens of thousands of dispensaries that opened in Thailand after the law passed will now have to adapt to being health clinics only prescribing medical cannabis or risk being shut down. And if you plan on visiting and skirting the law yourself, be warned; the draft law institutes a 60,000 baht ($1,700) fine for recreational use. Meanwhile, people who sell cannabis for recreational use or help advertise or market cannabis products could face up to a year in jail, a fine of up to 100,000 baht ($2,800), or both.

The good news is there are other countries around the world that remain cannabis-friendly destinations for visitors.

'Outer Banks' Fans Flooded the Set of Star's New Movie With Daniel Craig

Netflix's Outer Banks has been amassing a cult following since debuting at the height of the pandemic in April 2020, landing at the top of the Nielsen ratings U.S. streaming chart following its second season. Ahead of its fourth season, as a testament to the popularity of the series, one of the stars received the full Beatles heartthrob treatment on the set of his new film.

Drew Starkey, who plays Rafe Cameron on the series, will next appear in his first major film role in the upcoming historical romantic drama Queer, alongside Daniel Craig. The film, an adaptation of the 1985 William S. Burroughs novella of the same name, follows an outcast American expat (Craig) who becomes infatuated with a younger man (Starkey) in 1940s Mexico City.

In a GQ profile published on Thursday, director Luca Guadagnino admitted that he had never seen the teen drama before approaching Starkey for the role. However, it didn't take long for him to realize the star power he had on his hands.

"I had not seen Outer Banks nor knew that Drew was in it," Guagadnino told the publication in an email. "I discovered that Drew made it and was a celebrity the day in which, leaving the studios after a day of work, I saw a thick crowd of fans holding banners with his name in front of the gates, screaming, ‘Drew, Drew, Drew!'"

For his part, Craig also unsurprisingly "had zero prior knowledge" of Outer Banks before working with Starkey. "There were a lot of people outside the studio every night lined up with big signs saying, 'Hi Drew,'" the 55-year-old actor recalled.

"I liked Drew from the moment I met him," Craig added. "He’s such a wonderful, kind human being, and that was very obvious to me from the very start."

Queer, which wrapped up filming last summer, does not have an official release date yet. But in the meantime, you can catch Starkey in season four of Outer Banks, which is expected to premiere sometime in 2024.

College Wrestler Allegedly Strangled by Teammate in Their Dorm

A college wrestler in Kentucky tragically died over the weekend after allegedly being strangled to death by his teammate and roommate, TMZ reported.

The horrifying incident occurred last weekend at Kentucky's Campbellsville University. Police responded to a call alerting them to an unconscious male in one of the dorms. When they arrived, they discovered Josiah Kilman, 18, clinging to life. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Shortly after Kilman’s death, police issued an arrest warrant for Charles Escalera, 21. Escalera was Kilman’s roommate, and the two competed on the university’s wrestling team together. Escalera was apprehended a few hours later, after police received reports of a suspicious person lurking around a barn on the county line.

"Escalera was taken into custody by Kentucky State Police without incident," a Campbellsville police spokesperson confirmed to TMZ. He has been charged with second-degree murder and burglary, and is being held on a $2 million bond at Taylor County Correctional Center.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of Josiah Kilman, who left us far too soon,” Campbellsville University said in a statement. “Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Josiah’s family, friends, and the entire university community during this difficult time.”

Kilman’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to bring his remains home to Montana for a proper burial. As of Thursday afternoon, the campaign raised over $71,000 on a $65K goal.

"There are no words strong enough to mend the broken hearts of this family right now,” said a statement on the fundraiser’s page. “We are all truly in shock at the unexpected loss of Josiah, and we are asking for an abundance of prayers for them as they grapple with this devastating tragedy.”

The exact circumstances surrounding Kilman’s death are still under investigation by local authorities.

Menu at Abandoned McDonald’s Stuns Internet With Rock-Bottom 1994 Prices

A photographer captured eerie footage of a McDonald’s located within a naval base on an Alaskan island and abandoned since 1994, and the internet can’t stop talking about the rock-bottom prices.

Chris Luckhardt posted a photo to his private Instagram which shows the Adak Island restaurant’s menu stuck in time. Though originally taken in January 2023, the picture has recently gone viral due to McDonald’s escalating prices, which resulted in the chain pledging to make its food more affordable in 2024.

Burgers and fries were plenty affordable in 1994, however. A 20-piece Chicken McNuggets cost just under $5, less than half of what a 20-piece costs now in most markets. Similarly, French Fries cost either 99 cents or $1.29, whereas now a large serving runs close to $5. Big Mac, Quarter Pounder with Cheese, and two Cheeseburger meals, including fries and a drink, cost just $4.59. Sandwich combos now cost close to $20 at some McDonald’s locations.

A breakfast burrito costs just $1.49, while you can get sausage, eggs, and a biscuit for only $2.95. The nostalgic menu also offers “Dino-Size Fries,” apparently a tie-in to the (then) brand-new blockbuster Jurassic Park (1993). Happy Meals (just $3.36) also came with a Bobby’s World toy, based on the animated series which ran from 1990 until 1998.

The abandoned McDonald’s was opened in 1986 but closed in ‘94 as the Navy slowly decommissioned the Adak Naval Air Facility in which it was located. The naval facility completely closed in 1997, according to the Los Angeles Times. It was used at the height of the Cold War as a surveillance center and a base for sub-hunting Navy planes. In the early ‘90s, before the town shuttered, it was Alaska’s eighth-largest city, with 6,000 sailors, officers, and military dependents calling Adak home.

Adak’s McDonald’s has been the subject of fleeting internet curiosity over the years, most notably in a 2021 Sun article. In that piece, pictures of the restaurant’s interior show chairs neatly stacked upon tables, sitting untouched since the early ‘90s. But it seems the nostalgic menu was lost on most viewers until recently, as McDonald’s prices have climbed across the globe.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Physical Therapist Girlfriend Explain How to Care for Aging Knees

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s girlfriend, physical therapist Heather Milligan, appeared in a new video alongside the actor to offer some tips on continuing to exercise through knee and joint pains.

“Heather Milligan is not only my girlfriend, but she’s also a great, if not the best, physical therapist in the world,” Schwarzenegger said has he kicked off the video. “That’s actually how we met. She fixed my shoulder.”

Asked by Schwarzenegger what people suffering knee issues should do for exercise if the pain precludes them from doing squats, lunges, or even walking up steep inclines, Milligan advised that you should “break down” your exercises and complete them bit by bit. You should ask yourself, “Do I have the motion to do those exercises, and have I warmed up appropriately?”

It’s important to remember that everyone at all levels of physical fitness warm up before the exercise, which can significantly reduce pain in aching joints.

“Movement itself is the best medication for your joints,” Milligan explained. “When you move with low resistance, just the motion of moving the fluid around in your joints, that’s where all the nutrients are that feeds the cartilage in your joints. It’s like motor oil for your joints.”

Milligan continued: “Your own body’s receptors sensing that motion helps decrease the pain signals from the nervous system.”

After completing a warm-up, one should assess their current mobility and strength levels. If you don’t think you can complete the recommended workout without further pain, Milligan recommends adjusting the exercises to develop strength in your lunges and squats.

Milligan goes on to demonstrate, along with Schwarzenegger and another gym member, a number of exercises suited for those with knee pain. She continually reiterates that one must distribute muscle usage equally across their quads, hamstrings, and glutes in order to both alleviate their current pain and prevent any future flare ups. Milligan explains that the exercises are meant to strengthen legs for athletic purposes, but also for everyday comfort purposes.

Milligan certainly knows what she speaks. She’s one of the most prolific physical therapists in the world, having worked with players in the NFL, NBA, and UFC. She treated Conor McGregor when the fighter broke his shin bone in 2021.

“She knows how to take care of joints,” Schwarzenegger raved. “I’ve been having knee problems my whole life.”

You can watch Milligan and Schwarzenegger’s full demonstration (and pick up a few exercise tips) below.

Russell Wilson Gives Heartwarming Answer to Question of Being a Stepfather

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson opened up about meeting his wife of nearly eight years Ciara and raising their brood during an appearance on the latest episode of the I AM ATHLETE podcast this week. The couple share three biological children together, and Wilson is also stepfather to Ciara's son Future Jr., from her previous relationship with the rapper Future.

Though Future Jr. was less than a year old when Wilson met Ciara in early 2015, he explained to host Brandon Marshall why there was never a question in his mind that he would step up, when asked how he knew the 38-year-old singer was "the one."

“Right before I met Cee, I wrote out my five non-negotiables," the openly devout Christian explained, likening marriage to a business deal. Of his five conditions, Wilson said that he needed "a woman of faith," as well as a woman who was faithful in general, an independent woman, someone who would love him the way his mom loved his dad "on his deathbed, when he was at his lowest," and finally, "a woman who would tilt the room."

“So I prayed about that … I actually wrote it out on a napkin at dinner," he continued. "Three days later I meet Cee. And when I walked in the room and saw, you know, little Future, who was nine months [old] at the time or whatever, he crawls in my lap, it was like, ‘This is going to be my responsibility.'"

“I remember leaving that night and God saying to me, ‘Raising this child it's gonna be your responsibility,'" Wilson recalled. "And realizing that, I’m praying to God, ‘Are you sure this is what you want me to do?’ He’s saying, ‘Son this is for you.’ The first night. This is gonna be your responsibility."

When asked if coming to that realization had been scary, Wilson said that it was "more so an opportunity."

"Like, 'OK God, this is what you want me to do?’ Stepping in to raise a child with Cee and realizing that, ‘OK God, I know she's the one for me.’ But also too, I'm gonna take this responsibility as well," he continued. “And I was ready for that. I love children ... But it was like, man, to help raise a child and understanding that, God, you're going to give me this opportunity, what a gift."

"Even Jesus himself, like, Joseph was a stepdad, OK, it wasn't biologically his," he added.

Finally, given his evident dedication to his family, Wilson was asked if there were any words of wisdom he could impart to other fathers or fathers-to-be.

"When you’re raising children ... you’ve got to love every single child as if they’re yours," he explained. "That's been the greatest gift of raising Future and Sienna, Win and now Amora, two months. It’s like, man, God gave me that opportunity to raise them and to love them and to care for them and teach them ... And there's no difference.”

"I think to me it's the greatest gift, knowing that that's the responsibility to raise these four beautiful children all together," he concluded.

Timothée Chalamet on the Career Advice Leonardo DiCaprio Gave Him

Dune: Part Two star Timothée Chalamet revealed in a recent New York Times interview the two pieces of advice Leonardo DiCaprio gave him in regards to his acting career.

“Well, Leonardo DiCaprio said to me, ‘No superhero movies, no hard drugs.’ Which I thought was very good,” Chalamet explained when asked if he’d had the opportunity to play superheroes.

While noting that he’s followed both pieces of DiCaprio’s advice to date, the Wonka star said it was a caped crusader who first inspired him to get into the business. “The movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, The Dark Knight,” he said.

As a result, it would be hard for him to turn down a superhero movie if the project appealed to him artistically, rather than just commercially. “If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it,” Chalamet explained.

Chalamet has steered away from superhero movies and pre-established franchises in general. As opposed to Dune co-stars Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, and Jason Momoa, who respectively joined the Marvel and DC universes well into their runs, Chalamet has focused his attention on lower-budget movies. When he’s undertaken a blockbuster, such as Dune or Wonka, they’ve been properties that aren’t part of an existing cinematic universe.

But before Call Me By Your Name made him a star, Chalamet actually did throw his hat into the superhero ring, albeit without success. The actor auditioned for the title role in Spider-Man: Homecoming for Marvel back in 2015, but lost the role to Tom Holland. He told the story of his audition to the attendees at 2018’s Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards, via The Hollywood Reporter.

“I read twice and I left sweating in a total panic,” Chalamet recalled. “I called my agent, [UTA’s] Brian Swardstrom, and I said, ‘Brian, I thought about this a lot and I have to go back and knock on that door and read again,’ and he told me the story of [Blade Runner star] Sean Young and how in an attempt to become Catwoman she had scared everyone away when she showed up at the studio gates in costume.”

While the experience may have scared him away from pursuing superhero roles, everything seems to have worked out just fine for Chalamet and his career. He got to work with Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan on Interstellar (2014) before being nominated for Best Actor in 2018 for his turn in Call Me By Your Name.

Dune: Part Two arrives in cinemas on Friday.

Wild Video Shows Alligator Trying to Attack Golfers in Passing Cart

Frightening video captured on a golf course in Ave Maria, FL shows a cart full of players narrowly avoiding the hungry jaws of a pouncing alligator. Lindsay Saban, a local meteorologist with WINK News, posted the video to her Facebook page.

The footage was captured by another guest at the golf club, Denise Pruse, from behind the safety of the pool’s chain link fence. It shows the alligator, seemingly about five feet in length, slowly stalking through the grass between bungalows. It’s trying to make its way back to the pond, which is separated from the grass by a cement walkway.

The unlucky cart passes just as the gator is right in the middle of the walkway. It strikes out at the driver, who swerves to miss the beast and inadvertently drives down the hillside leading to the pond. It appears the two occupants managed to escape without injury, while the gator shook off the encounter and continued to the water.

Many commenters were quick to condemn the cart’s drivers for attempting to outrun the alligator, rather than brake and wait for it to cross; however, a fairly equal number of people came to the driver’s defense, noting it was clear he didn’t see the animal until he was too close to stop.

Others just seemed relieved that they weren’t the alligator’s target. “This is why I would never, ever live in Florida,” one commenter proclaimed.

“So glad my yard is fenced in,” one X-user wrote, accompanied by a rather ominous photo of their wiener dog.

Meanwhile, some posited the alligator’s actions may have been politically motivated. “I’m on the alligator’s side,” one offered. “We keep taking their homes and land.”

According to WTSP 10 in Tampa Bay, Florida is home to 1.25 million alligators. Encounters between humans and animals in the state are hardly rare. Many have much more severe consequences than the incident on the golf course. In September, a 14-foot alligator was found with the body of a deceased woman in its jaws.

These New Limited-Edition Jack Daniel's Whiskeys Are Worth Tracking Down

Big-budget blockbuster or arthouse indie film? Moviemakers in Hollywood are typically forced to follow one path or the other. Never both. It’s not all that different in the world of spirits. Either a brand is mass-marketed for ubiquitous global consumption, or it’s a craft release with narrow—but often cultish—appeal. Against all odds, Jack Daniel’s has managed to find lasting success in each of these camps. The latest examples arrive this month in the form of Batch 2 of Jack Daniel's 12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey and Batch 3 of its 10-Year-Old. The bottlings represent the latest liquids in the ongoing Jack Daniel’s Aged Series, launched in 2021.

Of course you know the 149-year old Tennessee distillery is responsible for the world’s best-selling American whiskey: Jack Daniel's Old No. 7. But over the past decade, it's solidified its standing among seasoned aficionados with a range of craft-focused limited releases of exceptional quality.

As with all whiskey rolling out of the legendary Lynchburg, TN, facility, these new releases are charcoal mellowed prior to maturation and aged entirely in new barrels of charred American white oak. They even hold the same well-publicized mashbill as Old No. 7—80 percent corn, 12 percent malted barley, and just 8 percent rye.

But for this new juice, Jack Daniel’s master distiller Chris Fletcher relied exclusively on casks that spent many years along the upper floors of the barrelhouse, where the whiskey extracted all kinds of wood sugar during the high heat and humidity of a Tennessee summer.

Related: 16 Best Rye Whiskeys to Spice Up a Sazerac or Manhattan

The vessels were eventually moved to lower levels—and cooler climes—to extend the maturation process. The movement ensures the liquid won’t be over-oaked after more than a decade in the barrel. Filled casks can weigh as much as 500 pounds each, so shifting them around is a labor-intensive process. But the effort pays off in robust-yet-balanced works of drinkable art.

“Our Jack Daniel’s Aged Series has given us the opportunity to produce modern whiskeys that simultaneously capture the essence of the liquid Mr. Jack created over 150 years ago,” says Fletcher. “These releases embody the artistry, passion and craftsmanship that define Jack Daniel’s legacy, and I’m excited for our friends to enjoy this year’s batches of special whiskeys.”

Out now, Batch 2 retails for $95, while Batch 3 commands a price tag of $85 per 700mL bottle. The confirmed indie darlings will sit on shelves alongside their far more mainstream black label sibling, which continues to be the world’s best-selling whiskey.

Your move, Christopher Nolan.

Jack Daniel’s 12-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 2

Batch 2 is a 107-proof belter that brings creme brûlée and pipe tobacco to the party. After a dozen years in the barrel, you get the sense that oak extraction is smack dab in the middle of the coveted sweet spot.

Jack Daniel's 10-Year-Old Tennessee Whiskey Batch 3

Batch 3 serves up berries and dark chocolate in an easier-drinking 97-proof body. Successive releases within the Aged Series are meant to have slight variations as they progress. That’s a large part of what makes them so attractive to the indie crowd. Nevertheless, there remains a recognizable through-line of butterscotch and tobacco across the range.

Study Finds Major Gender Exercise Gap That Favors Women Over Men

Women have always been taught that men have an easier time building muscle, but when it comes to the cardiovascular benefits of exercise, the fairer sex have a leg up.

This is according to a new study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, which found that women gain more overall benefits from doing the same amount of physical activity as men. In coming up with the findings, researchers from the Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles analyzed the physical activity data of 412,413 adults in the United States who responded to the National Health Interview Survey database between 1997 and 2019.

Participants provided details about the frequency, duration, intensity, and type of physical activity they engaged in during cardiovascular exercise. In examining the data, researchers learned that men gained their maximum "survival benefit" from doing five hours per week of "moderate to vigorous aerobic physical activity," such as brisk walking or cycling.

However, women achieved that same benefit after just 2½ hours of moderate to vigorous exercise per week.

When it came to strength training, the gap was even wider. Women required just one session of strength training exercises per week to gain the same outcome as men, who reached their maximum benefit from three weekly sessions.

And that's not the only way women came out on top. While overall mortality risk decreased across all participants in the study, it was reduced for women by 24 percent and just 15 percent for men.

"We found not only that progressively greater amounts of physical activity reduced mortality risk, but also that the amount of regular exercise needed to achieve the same degree of risk reduction was different in females versus males," Dr. Susan Cheng, Smidt Heart Institute's director of the Institute for Research on Healthy Aging and senior author of the study, told Fox News Digital

"In effect, women did not need to exercise for as much time as men to achieve the same benefit," Cheng explained. "Put another way, for a given amount of time and effort put into exercise, women had more to gain than men."

She said that she hopes the result of the study will help women who aren't currently engaged in regular physical activity understand that there is not just substantial benefit to be gained, but even more so than their male counterparts.

"Part of what makes females and males different is that when it comes to living longer and living healthier, different types of investments are linked to different types of gains," Cheng added.

Bruichladdich's New 30-Year-Old Scotch Is Made From Victorian Casks Almost Lost to History

Bruichladdich’s history is volatile. Since its founding in 1881, it's been mothballed on four separate occasions, most recently from 1994 to 2000. The last 24 years, however, has seen the Islay whisky maker flourish with its heavily peated Scotch whiskies—especially the Octomore collection—grabbing headlines and awards across the globe.

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services. We update when possible, but deals expire and prices can change. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Often lost in that discussion is The Classic Laddie, the brand’s unpeated house style, which is the whisky at the heart of the newly unveiled Luxury Redefined range.

Luxury Redefined arrives with two whiskies, The Bruichladdich Eighteen and The Bruichladdich Thirty, the brand's first permanent, high-age statement whiskies. Each release celebrates important moments in the distillery’s history. The Eighteen honors the first single malts created after the distillery’s reopening in 2001, while the Thirty celebrates the whiskies made before its 1994 shuttering.

Each bottle's packaging is made from fully recyclable paper pulp, completely plastic-free, and produced using 100 percent green energy. The brand takes its commitment to sustainability even further as each release in Luxury Redefined series is housed in the brand’s proprietary, lightweight glass bottle, which contains an average of 60 percent recycled glass.

The Bruichladdich Eighteen

The Bruichladdich Eighteen champions what's made the distillery unique over the last quarter century—namely, its focus on terroir through the use of local ingredients and support of the surrounding community. In 2004, the distillery began working with one farmer to grow a crop of local barley. That project has since expanded to 20 farming partners, who are responsible for over 50 percent of the barley used for production today.

“Eighteen years ago, we distilled spirit from locally grown barley and our passion to diversify and champion our growing program has never wavered,” says Adam Hannett, Bruichladdich's head distiller. “Every element of The Bruichladdich Eighteen—from the specific harvest and barley varietals used, to the exact casks it has matured in—is fully traceable. At Bruichladdich Distillery, we’re committed to making delicious whisky with real provenance that benefits the community—and The Bruichladdich Eighteen is the embodiment of this ethos.”

Bottled primarily in ex-bourbon casks, as well as a few sauternes wine and port casks, The Bruichladdich Eighteen is matured exclusively on Islay. On the nose, it delivers aromas of honey, butterscotch, and citrus orange. The palate features a medley of tropical fruits and toasted mellow oak, leading to a finish filled with stone fruits, a delicate floral bouquet, and more oak.

$195 at Reserve Bar

The Bruichladdich Thirty

The Bruichladdich Thirty, meanwhile, is a story of resurrection. When the distillery shuttered in 1994, just two staff members remained to safeguard the remaining casks of whisky. Luckily, the Scotch survived and the distillery was reopened just seven years later.

“The Bruichladdich Thirty has been distilled using these legacy—almost lost—casks, capturing a pivotal moment in time for the distillery,” says Hannett. “This 30-year-old single malt not only celebrates the resurrection of our Victorian distillery but pays homage to the men who laid down this spirit three decades ago.”

Matured exclusively in ex-bourbon casks, The Bruichladdich Thirty offers aromas of toasted oak, honey, and soft vanilla. The palate delivers delicate flavors of dark chocolate and fresh sea air, followed by light fruits, honey, and a hint of leather. The finish features vibrant sea salt balanced with warm oak, soft vanilla, and coconut.

Here Were the Most-Visited National Park Service Sites in 2023

The National Park Service administers much more than just our gorgeous national parks. The agency is in charge of all sorts of sites including national monuments, seashores, preserves, recreation areas, and more, all of which bring in hundreds of millions of visitors every year.

The NPS just released its visitation numbers for 2023, which include a 4 percent increase in visits from 2022 to a total of 325.5 million recreation visits last year. Once again, the Blue Ridge Parkway, which runs through the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina and Virginia, took the top spot for the most recorded visits last year. In total, the Parkway saw approximately 16.75 million visits in 2023.

Surprisingly, only one entry in the top 10 most visited NPS sites is a proper national park. Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which sits at one end of the Blue Ridge Parkway, brought in 13.29 million people last year, putting it in third place. Other popular NPS sites include the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and other linear parks like the George Washington Memorial Parkway in Virginia and Natchez Trace Parkway through the South. The Lincoln Memorial, a go-to tourist attraction for visitors to Washington, D.C., is the only national memorial on the top 10.

With the rising trend of embracing vegan lifestyles, discerning diners are on the lookout for restaurants that cater to their dietary preferences. Nestled in the heart of Delhi, People Of Tomorrow makes a re-entry with its inviting rustic charm. Following the closure of its previous establishment in The Dhan Mill compound, the restaurant has now found a new home in Vasant Vihar. This relocation marks a change in scenery and heralds the arrival of a fresh menu meticulously crafted by five talented chefs.

For those yet to embrace the allure of vegan cuisine, a visit to P.O.T promises to be a transformative experience. Beyond merely tantalising taste buds, the restaurant embodies its commitment to sustainability in every aspect of its operation.

Eco-Chic Vibes: Where Sustainability Meets Style

Step into People of Tomorrow and you'll find more than just a venue; it's a testament to sustainable living infused with style. Crafted with care and conscious choices, this space is a refreshing blend of eco-friendly design and chic aesthetics.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Designed by Ayushi Malik, the interior speaks volumes about their commitment to the environment. Instead of conventional paints, locally sourced Multani mitti adorns the walls, adding a touch of tradition while promoting sustainability. Lighting fixtures made from hemp-based cloth not only conserve resources but also cast a warm and inviting glow throughout the space.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

The ambience is further enhanced by fluid forms and earthy tones, with travertine stone and eco-conscious flooring grounding the design. Repurposed canvas fabric adds a soft touch, creating a cosy atmosphere that transitions seamlessly from daytime brunches to evening cocktails.

Feast Your Eyes (And Tummies) On Their New Menu:

Now, let's talk about the real star of the show—the food! Their resident chef, Tashyaa Mehrotra, spilled the beans about the menu backstory. She informed us that the menu at the newly opened Vasant Vihar P.O.T. is a culinary dream team effort, showcasing the creative genius of Anahita Dhondy Bhandari, Surabhi Sehgal, Dhruv Nijhawan, Sambhavi Joshi, and Anukriti Anand, with each infusing their unique flair into the menu.

Our culinary journey through the menu was a delightful exploration of flavours. From Anahita's offerings, the Tofu Akuri, a perfect blend of spicy tofu infused with Parsi Sambhar Masala atop a toasted bun, offered a tantalising start. Complementing the winter season are Baby Jewels, a medley of roasted baby carrots that captivate the palate with their seasonal freshness.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Next, from Chef Surabhi Sehgal's menu, we tried Empanadas, generously filled with creamy spiced mushrooms, corn, and beans, accompanied by a zesty stovetop salsa. Mucho Bueno, a vibrant salad featuring charred corn, beans, and vegetables tossed in a coriander vinaigrette, elevates the senses.

For a taste of Italy, Chef Sambhavi Joshi's menu presents Puttanesca, a tantalizing fusion of fusilli noodles and a robust tomato, caper, olive, and chilli concoction that delights the senses with every bite. We couldn't resist diving into the Big Biang Biang from their 'memoir' collection. Picture this: thick, broad, hand-pulled noodles drenched in chilli, garlic, and peanut sauce. And there, it struck a chord with us.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

But it doesn't stop there. Chef Dhruv Nijhawan's Tomatoes of Tomorrow, a gastronomic marvel crafted from surplus produce, is a testament to the restaurant's zero-waste philosophy - a philosophy that resonates throughout every aspect of the dining experience.

And as the curtain falls on this culinary fair, a whispered secret unveiled - a tantalizing Gomae Salad and Tartare de Nasu, curated by a clandestine chef 'Shhhhhh-Ef', await the discerning palate of the well-travelled epicurean.

Leave room for Chef Anukriti Anand's pièce de résistance, the heavenly Caramel Hot Chocolate Fudge, a sweet finale to an unforgettable meal.

If you're ever in Vasant Vihar, make sure to swing by People Of Tomorrow for a dining experience like no other. It's not just a meal-it's a journey into the world of flavour, ethics, and sustainability. Come hungry, leave happy!

Shoppers Say This 'Brilliant' Icebreaker Base Layer Is 'So Soft You'd Never Know It's Wool,' and Now It's 50% Off

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Performance fabrics are typically petroleum-derived, like polyester and nylon. But Merino wool is an eco-friendly, natural alternative that’s not only insulating and temperature regulating but also odor-resistant, making it great for workouts, travel, and outdoor excursions. If there’s a catch, it’s that Merino wool can be pricey. But right now, one of the leading Merino wool brands, Icebreaker, is on sale at REI.

Icebreaker’s long-sleeve thermal top is an excellent layering piece that can be worn into the warmer seasons. Typically $105, it’s discounted to $52 in blue and purple, and it’s currently available in most sizes.

According to REI, Merino wool comes from Merino sheep and is prized for its softness. The softness, compared to other types of wool, is why it’s used in socks, shirts, and other garments that directly touch the skin. Icebreaker’s Merino top has a long-sleeve design that wears well under heavier coats, but it’s stylish and simple enough to be worn on its own in warmer weather. As a moisture-wicking fabric, it’ll keep you dry and comfortable. With naturally odor-resistant properties, you can work up a sweat without worry.

Like its competitor Smartwool, Icebreaker uses a numbered warmth rating system, with 125 on the lightest end and 400 on the warmest. This is the brand’s 200 top, so it’s lightweight but warm enough to wear as a base layer on ski trips or cold-weather hikes. It’s also UPF 20-coated for sun protection.

Shoppers were impressed with the comfort of the fabric, with one writing that it was "so soft you’d never know it’s wool." One shopper wrote that the shirts were "soft like cotton but so warm like the wool they are made of," and another appreciated that it "ticks all the boxes for style and warmth."

The shirt’s odor-resistant properties were also a selling point. Being able to wear a shirt over multiple days can be a plus among travelers and hikers who can’t afford to overpack. One happy shopper wrote, "I’ve not yet washed mine after four 12-hour days of consecutive wear." Another agreed, writing that they "can get multiple wears without washing."

"Brilliant, warm, and functional layer," someone else wrote. "I use it for football and yoga. Wish I had bought it years ago."

By now, you’ve probably heard about the seemingly endless benefits of Merino wool, but maybe you held out because of the price. Or maybe you’re a Merino wool enthusiast looking to replace the cotton and polyester tees in your closet. Whatever the case, now is a great time to stock up on these top-rated Merino wool tees from Icebreaker.

When to Visit Thailand

Thailand is beautiful all year long, but the ideal period for travel is typically during the cool and dry season, from November to February. During these months, the country experiences pleasant temperatures, lower humidity, and minimal rainfall, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities and exploring the diverse landscapes. However, if you enjoy lively festivals and vibrant cultural celebrations, visit during the Songkran Festival in April. The monsoon season from June to October brings heavy rains, particularly on the west coast, but also means you’ll experience lush, green scenery and fewer crowds.

Flights to Thailand

Most travelers opt to fly into Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). While there are other international airport options, such as in Phuket (in the south) and Chiang Mai (north), Bangkok remains the primary entry point thanks to its central location and extensive flight connections.

In terms of flight pricing, you’ll be able to find the cheapest tickets during the low season, which corresponds with the monsoon season in Thailand from June to October. A better option for finding budget-friendly flights is to look for deals during shoulder seasons, such as late February to March or late October to early November, which may offer a balance between reasonable prices and more favorable weather conditions.

Tiger Woods’ Son Harassed by Spectators During First PGA Qualifying Match

Charlie Woods, the 15-year-old son of golf legend Tiger Woods, was harassed by disrespectful fans throughout his first appearance at a PGA qualifiers event, per The Palm Beach Post.

Charlie was in Florida for the Cognizant Classic pre-qualifiers at the Lost Lake Golf Club. By all accounts, he was having some difficulty with his game throughout the match. He repeatedly struggled to make shots, earning almost immediate ire from the crowds, who seemed by turns annoyed by and enthralled with Charlie. He ended the game having shot 16-over-86.

When his first out-of-bounds shot flew past the fifth hole, onlookers immediately rushed to try and retrieve the ball for themselves. As the game went on, the lack of guardrails separating spectators from the players encouraged fans of Charlie’s father to encroach on the teenager’s space.

They brazenly ignored pleas from officials to leave Charlie's space, with one irate spectator incredulously asking a security official, "Who are you? The fire marshal?"

As Charlie made his way through the course, more and more fans amassed until the crowd grew to over 50 people. One of them, according to the Post, was a grandmother who had pulled her young granddaughter out of school for the event in the hopes that she would draw Charlie’s attention.

Another fan approached Charlie on the 12th hole, demanding that he sign a copy of Tiger’s book How I Play Golf. “When an official told the fan it wasn't allowed, she made a commotion of shushes and yells, including 'I live here,' as Woods teed off on No. 13,” the outlet revealed.

Charlie got off to a slow start on Thursday, but lost any chance of victory on the seventh hole, which he finished in 12 strokes. As he neared the 18th green, Charlie reportedly joked to his caddie, "That was some round, huh?"

Tiger Woods was not in attendance for the event, but Charlie was accompanied by his mother, Elin Nordegren. Though the event obviously didn't go the way Charlie was hoping, he didn't seem too upset after the match. Many defended his performance, assuring the 15-year-old he has many more years to perfect his game.

Jeff Goldblum Witnessed Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield Fight Firsthand

Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield's infamous 1997 face-off in Las Vegas remains one of the most unforgettable matches in boxing history. In the heat of the fight, Tyson bit off a piece of Holyfield's ear, leading to a bloody mess in the ring and a disqualification and suspension from boxing on Tyson's part.

It must have been something else to experience the moment firsthand; just ask Jeff Goldblum. The Emmy-winning actor stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Feb. 21 and revealed he was sitting in the audience that night, just a few feet from where the violence took place.

"I’ll bet if you look up some of that footage—I’m sure you don’t have it now—but I was like in the third row!" he remembered. "So, when I saw playback of it, I see me and my friend Gary Kress—who was there at the Super Bowl believe it or not, we’ve been friends a long time—we were there, and you see us."

Anticipation was high before the match even kicked off. "It’s a very exciting, electric event as you can imagine," he said. "I’m on the edge of my seat. Violence, you know, gets you going."

As for the iconic ear-biting moment, Goldblum admitted he was confused at first then freaked out when he realized what was happening. So when Tyson went to bite Holyfield's other ear just a few minutes later, Goldblum was aware of what he was seeing.

"I see blood, I was close enough to see blood, and I go ‘What? What? What happened? He bit his ear! He bit his ear!’ I jump up, I yelled something at him, I’m yelling,” Goldblum recalled. "I sort of knew it was coming—I mean, I knew it was happening. And then he did it again of course.”

Kimmel calls it "the craziest sporting event in history," and with good reason. Meanwhile, Tyson and Holyfield have since buried the hatchet and Holyfield's ears have healed.

Freny's Bandra: Enjoy East Indian Dishes And Scrumptious Comfort Food At This New Restaurant

What do you associate with the word "home"? It may mean different things to each of us. But, in one of its idealistic representations, it goes hand-in-hand with family, comfort and nostalgia. Foodies among us will also add unbeatable flavour to the list. When you step into Freny's Bandra, you get a taste (pun intended) of this homely experience. Our recent meal at this newly opened restaurant in Bandra was a memorable one for several reasons. Allow us to tell you why.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Freny's is helmed by Chef Freny Fernandes, who used to run the award-winning dessert bar Moner (before it closed in 2023). Many shorthand descriptions calling it an East Indian restaurant are rather misleading. That's not all there is on offer here. Freny's is a highly personal project and the menu reflects not just the chef's roots (as an East Indian), but also her culinary journey in different parts of the world. Alongside the traditional fare, one can therefore find selected Italian treats, popular cafe-style eats and Chef Freny's famous desserts from Moner.

(P.S. In this context, East Indian doesn't refer to people from the eastern states of India, but to the ethnic-religious community, living in and around Mumbai, who are often considered among the primary native inhabitants of the region. They may also be called East Indian Catholics or Bombay East Indians.)

We are seated on the first floor, which functions as a proper dining room and bar. The ground floor has a cosier layout, better suited for those wanting to grab a quick bite and coffee. We are immediately charmed by the personal touches to the Portuguese-style decor and ambience: doilies on the speakers, gingham-bordered tablemats, fun puzzles beside our cutlery and walls covered in B&W photographs. As we enjoy the 80's music in the background, Chef Freny tells us how the photographs trace the journey of several generations of her family. We are literally surrounded by history and heritage.

Fugyas

Fugyas. Photo Credit: Freny's Bandra

We began our meal with the quintessential East Indian delight, Fugyas. They were sprinkled with bottle masala and served with herbed butter. The fugyas were wholesomely crisp - a light indulgence that was the perfect way to start our meal.

In the small plates, we also liked the Cutlet Pav Sliders. They disappeared quickly in one or two small bites. A great option for sharing among a group of friends. The Indyal Tacos had a satisfying texture: the softness of the taco shell, the crunch of purple cabbage and the stringy pieces of chicken. However, we would have preferred the flavour to be on the spicier side. After all, there is some amount of comfort to be derived from extra heat. On the other hand, the flavours of the Masala Tiger Prawns stood out unerringly. They were more aromatic than pungent, but we could not complain. We enjoyed scooping them up with the gravy and bread they were served with.

The ultimate savoury treat came in the form of the main course. Peter's Mutton Curry, named after the Chef's father, provides all the satisfaction of a spicy, home-style curry. No fancy pairing is needed - we savoured it with plain white rice. The curry has all the hallmarks of a family recipe perfected over the years.

Among the Italian delicacies, we highly recommend the Burnt Garlic & Broccoli Risotto. It was creamy and comforting enough to win the hearts of broccoli haters too!

Our meal was complemented with wonderful drinks throughout the evening. Our pick among the non-alcoholic options is Sparkling Teaser. It's like a jamun-flavoured lemon soda but manages to keep sourness in check. If you like your drinks on the sweeter side, go for COCO Jambo. A concoction of Cabo, coconut syrup and sparkling wine, it went well with the coastal specialities. We also loved Isabel (brandy mixed with homemade mulled wine, served cold). Named after Chef's grandmother, it left us thoroughly refreshed. The decision to add such drinks, that have personal stories and childhood emotions attached to them is a purposeful one. Chef Freny tells us she wants people to get a break from cocktail menus that are too cerebral, "serious" or "masculine".

We kept the novelty for the end - Freny's Khimad. Described as a "traditional East Indian hot wedding drink," it consists of brandy, tea, caramel, cinnamon, cardamom and cloves. Intrigued? We sure were! There's no denying the warmth provided by it - we cannot imagine having it in Mumbai summers. But we can surely see ourselves returning to sip on it on a breezy monsoon evening, and relishing the medley of sweet and spice.

We were finally ready to dig into Chef Freny's celebrated desserts. We started with a (relatively) light Citron Meringue Tart. The curd was delicately tangy. Each element hinted at the well-honed talent of the pastry chef. The Fernandes Rocher thrilled us not just with its taste, but also its story. "It's my take on a childhood favourite treat, Ferrero Rocher. As a kid, I remember how relatives would bring back the chocolate when visiting from abroad. So, I decided to give my own twist to it," Chef Freny explains. It consists of a globe of dark chocolate mousse and a salted caramel core encased within hazelnut praline. "The tuile is shaped around it like the chocolate's signature gold wrapper," the chef adds. Again, the different elements hit the right notes of decadence and sweetness.
