Trader Joe's is officially opening up a new location in the Deep South.
It's been confirmed New Orleans will gets its own Trader Joe's on Thursday, Aug. 14. This marks the first Trader Joe's location in the Big Easy. The store will be located at 2501 Tulane Avenue near University Medical Center New Orleans, Ruby Slipper and New Orleans Safe Driving School.
"We've consulted our maps and compass and have found a terrific location for a store in New Orleans, LA," Trader Joe's said. "Please join Captain Rachelle and Crew for the Grand Opening Celebration. We look forward to seeing you!"
The popular grocery chain announced in July that it was opening 30 new locations, which includes the one in New Orleans. There'll be Trader Joe's locations opening up in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
If you're interested in how Trader Joe's decides which states will receive a new location, a few representatives for the grocery chain offered some insight in 2024.
"People get so excited about the prospect of one of our stores coming to their neighborhood that they start a social media campaign, or they start a letter-writing campaign," Trader Joe's representatives said, via People. "While we love the energy and enthusiasm often expressed in any of those various social media campaigns…they really don't have much, if any, impact on what we end up deciding."
Apparently, it comes down to "access and ease of getting into and out of, and the flow of traffic patterns." Clearly, Trader Joe's felt good about bringing a location to 2501 Tulane Avenue in New Orleans.
