Ron Hale, the actor who starred in soap operas like General Hospital and Ryan's Hope, has died at the age of 78.
During his life, Hale displayed his talents in several different TV shows and films. He got his start appearing in soap operas like Search for Tomorrow and Love Is a Many Splendored Thing. In 1975, he began starring in the soap opera Ryan's Hope and was one of the few cast members who remained on the series through its entire 14-year run. He earned two Daytime Emmy Award nominations during his time on the show.
In 1976, Hale appeared alongside Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman in the acclaimed political film All the President's Men, playing Watergate burglar Frank Sturgis. He continued to act in TV and film roles until his next big job on General Hospital starting in 1995. He played character Mike Corbin for 15 years until his retirement from acting in 2010, though he came out of retirement for the 2017 film The Ghost and the Whale.
After news of Hale's death spread, General Hospital marked his passing on social media.
"The entire General Hospital family is saddened to hear of Ron Hale’s passing," an Instagram post read. "We would like to extend our condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time. He was an incredible actor and an unforgettable colleague. May he rest in peace."
