Popular 'Love Island' Star Injured in Rodeo Accident

An alum of the latest season of "Love Island USA" spent some time in a hospital over the weekend after a frightening rodeo accident.

Taylor Williams, who made it to the final week of the popular reality TV show before being sent home, was competing at the Arizona Invitational Black Rodeo in Scottsdale Friday night when disaster struck. Williams was thrown from his horse when the animal bumped into another horse during the competition.

It appeared that Williams was briefly trapped underneath the animal and may have gotten trampled, based on video of the incident circulating online.

You can see the clip below.

Thankfully, after laying motionless on the ground for several moments and being tended to by medical personnel, Williams was able to make his way out of the ring.

An update from the hospital

On Saturday, Williams assuaged fans' fears, posting a picture of himself on a gurney at the hospital with a neck brace on while also indicating he was planning on making a scheduled appearance at a nightclub that evening.

“Was in a horse accident last night but I’m still pulling up tonight injured and all! It’s my brother’s bday [you know] we still turnt!” he wrote, adding, “Preciate all the love! I’m all good.

Williams also indicated he "still walked out" in another post.

Williams' 'Love Island' relationship still going strong

Williams ended his run on "Love Island" coupled up with Clarke Carraway. The two were voted off in the second-to-last episode of the season, but have not let that setback kill their budding relationship.

Williams and Carraway made a public appearance Thursday, the day before his accident, and Williams told Variety last month that the pair was working on transitioning their relationship outside the villa.

"We started talking about the real world," Williams explained. "I want her to come to Oklahoma, and I’ll go see her in Charlotte. We’ve had conversations about seeing each other outside the villa and making our relationship work."

New Balance's Versatile and Responsive Fresh Foam Running Shoe Is $60 Off, and It's Great at All Speeds

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Why We Love This Deal

New Balance enthusiasts are undoubtedly delighted by the New Balance Labor Day sale going on this weekend. However, we’ve found that’s not the best place to get premium running shoes from the brand. Instead, Joe’s New Balance Outlet is the best place to score a deal on some of the brand's best runners, including one of our favorite tech-forward shoes.

The New Balance Fresh Foam x Balos are now 30% off. When we tested them last year, we found them to be an outstanding option for more serious runners, as they are undoubtedly pricey. Now, at $140, they’ve entered more standard running shoe pricing territory.

New Balance Fresh Foam x Balos Running Shoes, $140 (was $200) at Joe’s New Balance Outlet

GET IT

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Sizes Available: 7 through 16, Standard and Wide
  • Color Options: 1; White With Relic Brown And Blue Oasis
  • Weight: 9.7 ounces
  • Hell-Toe Drop: 6mm
  • Notable Feature: The Fresh Foam x Balos have a highly pronounced rocker, creating a rounded bottom.
  • Best Use Case: These are premium daily running shoes.

Though they resemble ordinary running shoes from the top, take a glance at the Fresh Foam x Balos from the side, and you’ll see a sight that resembles a rocking horse’s bottom. This might be the most notable feature, and one Men's Journal found that “practically feels like it does the running for you.”

The approach here is something that’s the exact opposite of Altra’s flat running shoes. We’ll be the first to admit that the rolling rocker motion may take some getting used to, but those who get the knack of it are extremely satisfied.

Fresh Foam x Balos are available in sizes 7 through 16 in both Standard and Wide, though some sizes are starting to sell out. There’s only one color available, though its purposefully rusty orange along the bottom is sure to bury any clay mud stains picked up along the way. It’s a functional color splash that more running shoes should have.

What Runners Are Saying

One New Balance customer went into the Fresh Foam x Balos with low expectations, expecting it to be a casual trainer. After wearing them for a while, their mind changed: “I have been completely blown away with the Balos. It's great at slow, it's great at fast, and everything in between.”

Additionally, with a shoe like this, it isn’t surprising that the niche running community at r/RunningShoeGeeks weighed in on the Fresh Foam x Balos. In a technical discussion, one person said the shoes give “a very elevated daily trainer experience” and that they are “super soft, but respond well.” The overall consensus is that this is a shoe that provides noticeably high cushioning while still feeling light and airy, a not-so-easy combination to pull off.

The New Balance Fresh Foam x Balos are now $140, and come recommended by MJ writers, running hobbyists, and casual runners alike. Everyone is going to want a pair, so be sure to get yours before your size sells out.

Spirit Airlines Files for Bankruptcy: What It Means for Travelers

Spirit Airlines has filed for bankruptcy for the second time in a year amid the company's 'fragile financial position.'

"Since emerging from our previous restructuring, which was targeted exclusively on reducing Spirit’s funded debt and raising equity capital, it has become clear that there is much more work to be done and many more tools are available to best position Spirit for the future," Spirit CEO Dave Davis said. "After thoroughly evaluating our options and considering recent events and the market pressures facing our industry, our Board of Directors decided that a court-supervised process is the best path forward to make the changes needed to ensure our long-term success."

He went on to say that they "have evaluated every corner" of the company.

"We will be far more strategic about our fleet, markets and opportunities in order to best serve our Guests, Team Members and other stakeholders," he added. "Guests can continue to rely on Spirit to provide high-value travel options and connect them with the people and places that matter most."

Earlier this month, Davis claimed "Spirit is in a fragile financial position, likely more so than at any point in the previous 24 months."

He revealed that the company was "moving away from the elements of the business that no longer work," including "strategically growing our network in stronger markets with more opportunities and making some difficult decisions like re-evaluating unprofitable routes."

Despite the changes, the company will continue to operate as normal, and passengers can continue to book and travel with Spirit Airlines. The company reportedly plans to scale back operations in certain markets, while ramping up in its key destinations.

‘The Last of Us’ Star Delivers Blunt Message to Season 2 Haters

Bella Ramsey has received two Emmy nominations for their portrayal of the fiercely loyal—and totally bada**—Ellie in The Last of Us. Turns out, the character was a perfect fit for the 21-year-old.

Despite its nearly universal critical acclaim, The Last of Us—which is adapted from a much-loved video game—has also been ruffling feathers since HBO announced it was turning it into a series. Like so many existing properties with a massive fan base before it, fans of the original game had many concerns, and opinions, when it came to just about any piece of news about the show. And Ramsey, who has often been the target of fan criticism, finally seems over it.

While appearing on the latest episode of Entertainment Weekly’s The Awardist podcast, Ramsey got real about the online hate that they and their co-stars, along with the series’ creators, received during the second season—particularly following the (SPOILER ALERT) gruesome death of Pedro Pascal’s character, Joel, just two episodes into the latest season.

“I tried to steer clear as much as I could, to be honest. Because there’s nothing I can do about it anyway,” Ramsey said of their pragmatic approach to online talk about the show. “The show is out. There’s nothing that can be changed or altered. So I’m like, there’s not really any point in reading or looking at anything.”

“People are of course entitled to their opinions,” Ramsey continued. “But it doesn’t affect the show, it doesn’t affect how the show continues or anything in any way. They’re very separate things to me. So no, I just don’t really engage.”

When pressed on what their advice might be to some of the individuals with the strongest critiques of Season 2 as the show enters new territory—and refocuses on a new protagonist with Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby—Ramsey was just as matter-of-fact: “I would say, you don’t have to watch it. If you hate it that much, the game exists. You can just play the game again.”

Clearly, Ramsey knows that just not watching is easier said than done. And to those people, they offered this: “You don’t have to watch it, but if you do want to watch it, then I hope you enjoy it.”

The Last of Us Season 3

While Season 3 of The Last of Us has already been confirmed, production is not expected to begin until next year, with an estimated premiere date of 2027.

Missing Oasis in the U.S.? Spotify Will Create Your Own Custom Setlist

For the first time since 2008, the band Oasis is playing gigs in the U.S. Following their sold-out show in Chicago on Thursday, August 28, the British band will play in Rutherford, New Jersey, for two nights starting on Sunday, August 31. But, because Oasis has a limited number of shows in U.S. cities, it's likely that a huge number of American fans won't get to see the beloved Gallagher brothers and their cohorts on their historic reunion tour. So, if you're feeling left out, Spotify has offered a strange consolation: Custom-made "setlists."

Spotify's Wild Oasis '25 setlists

Related: Here's What the American Press Got Wrong About Oasis

If you listen to Oasis in heavy rotation on Spotify, or if you've recently started listening to the band, Spotify will now prompt you to create an auto-generated, personalized Oasis "setlist," which is really just a playlist created algorithmically. If you only listen to the biggest hits from the band, you'll likely get "Wonderwall," "Don't Look Back in Anger," and "Champagne Supernova."

But if you're into the band's deeper cuts, your playlist could look pretty weird. Case in point, your humble reporter got the 2005 B-Side "Pass Me Down the Wine," as an opener, along with a 2000 Oasis cover of The Beatles' "Helter Skelter," as well as a 1997 cover of David Bowie's classic "Heroes."

Certainly not what they're playing live right now!

View the original article to see embedded media.

Will Oasis change their live setlist?

Currently, since their reunion tour kicked off on July 4 in Cardiff, Oasis has not altered their live setlist at all. Their live repertoire mostly includes songs from the 1990s, and primarily hits from their first two albums or B-sides from that era. Currently, only one song from the 21st century features on the live setlist, "Little By Little," from their 2002 album Heathen Chemistry. (Though the band does walk on to a pre-recorded version of their 2000 instrumental song "F*ckin' in the Bushes.")

According to comedian Matt Morgan, and as reported by Billboard, Oasis will not be changing their setlist during the tour, as songwriter Noel Gallagher reportedly said, "I like it like that."

Oasis is currently on tour, and will play two nights in New Jersey on August 31 and September 1, before heading to the Rose Bowl in California on September 6.

Ex-Colts Owner Jim Irsay's Heartbreaking Cause of Death Revealed

An explosive new investigative report claims the late and former Indianapolis Colts owner relapsed and overdosed before his death in May at the age of 65.

The Washington Post on Thursday reported that Irsay battled with relapse in the final years of his life and hid it from the public. It's also reported that he overdosed three times in the years leading up to his death: once in Turks and Caicos in 2020; at his Indiana home in December 2023; and then 12 days later at a resort in Florida that resulted in a hospital stay that lasted nearly four months.

The national news outlet spoke to five people who claimed they witnessed Irsay using drugs. The outlet also cited medical and police reports.

In one police report, it's said that Irsay fired one of his nurses just days before his December 2023 overdose after he accused the nurse of hiding his pills. That nurse reportedly told police that the pills were being hidden from Irsay in a lockbox because he was taking his medication "too frequently."

When he reportedly overdosed in December 2023, The Post reports that it was a Colts executive who called 911 and told the dispatcher that Irsay was suffering from heart failure. There was no mention of drugs and pills during that call. The Colts later claimed that Irsay was hospitalized due to a "severe respiratory illness." Irsay would later contradict that claim, instead claiming his hospital stay was due to back surgery.

The Post also revealed Irsay's use of ketamine after speaking with a California doctor who provided Irsay with more than 200 opioid pills in the days leading up to his December 2023 overdose. Nurses for that same doctor, The Post reports, administered ketamine injections to Irsay.

That same doctor was reportedly staying with Irsay and caring for him. The Post also reports that the same doctor signed Irsay's death certificate and cited "cardiac arrest due to pneumonia and heart issues" as the cause of death.

Irsay's daughters --  Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt, and Kalen Jackson, who now co-own the Colts -- released a statement defending their late father.]

"Our Dad was open about his battles with addiction and mental health. He never claimed to be perfect," they wrote. "The media is not the place to address inquiries about information which is disputed, lacks essential context, or involves private medical matters."

KFC is Testing a Very Peculiar Limited-Time Menu - Here's Where

It's not uncommon to see fast food restaurants experiment with their menus, but what KFC is doing north of the border is quite bold.

This week, the popular chicken chain launched a limited-time only "Pickled Menu" in Canada. It's exactly what it sounds like, overrun by the briny flavor, for better or worse.

"It’s bold, it’s over-the-top, and it’s packed with flavor,” said Jordan Sequiera, KFC Canada's senior marketing manager.

Sequeira's words aren't inaccurate, but depending on how you feel about pickles, you probably will either love or hate these offerings, and in the case of one item in particular, you might be grossed out even if you enjoy pickled goodness.

Homemade pickles

Enrique Díaz/7cero/Getty Images

What can you get?

KFC's "Pickled Menu" focuses on four items: a pickle sandwich, pickle chips, loaded pickle fries and a Pickle Pepsi.

Popular food influencer account Snackolator broke down the offerings on Instagram.

"The pickle sandwich has a fried filet with crispy pickles, mayo, bread & butter pickles, and a dusting of dill seasoning," Snackolator said, adding that the pickle chips are essentially what Americans call fried pickles.

As for the Loaded Fries, they're your typical fries topped with crispy pickles, dill seasoning and mayo

"The Pickle Pepsi is one that seems horrifying to me, but it's Pepsi mixed with *pickle brine* for an unmistakable pickle taste!" Snackolator added.

We have to admit, that's the one menu item that we don't get at all, but KFC is claiming it is "bold, weird, and unexpectedly delicious.”

Why pickles?

Well, we've seen other fast food chains lean into pickle-flavored and pickle-centric menu items in recent years. It looks like KFC is just following that trend in its own way.

"Pickles are having a major cultural moment, and we wanted to serve up something that celebrates that obsession in the most craveable way possible," Sequiera explained.

Netflix's 'The Waterfront' Cancelled After Season 1

Kevin Williamson's crime drama series The Waterfront gets the boot from Netflix, with the streaming platform announcing it won't go ahead with a Season 2, according to Deadline.

Sources say Williamson has informed the cast and crew of the series cancellation, which comes as a shock following its Season 1 premiere on June 19, and its climactic season finale that left fans wanting more.

The Waterfront saw success after its release, topping Netflix's Top 10 list for five weeks for an English-language series. It peaked with 11.6M views for its first full week. News of the series cancellation comes as part of the streaming platform's crackdown on series renewals, focusing on cost versus performance as key factors. The Waterfront did significantly better than two other Netflix canceled series: Pulse and The Residence. Both of which did well among fans.

From Universal Television, The Waterfront delves into the lives of the Buckley family in Havenport, North Carolina. Harlan Buckley (Holt McCallany), the family patriarch with heart issues, returns to manage the family's struggling fishing business. Instead of a warm welcome, he learns his son and wife have secretly entered the drug trade to salvage their legacy.

The Netflix series scored a 68% on Rotten Tomatoes with its overall eight-episode season. Back in late June, after the series finale, Williamson teased the possibility of a Season 2 and the power struggle within the Buckley family.

For now, none of the cast has commented on the series cancellation. The Waterfront is McCallany's second Netflix series to be cancelled after Mindhunter, with the actor having previously expressed his focus on returning to the Williamson series for a second season.

He told The New York Post that The Waterfront Season 2 would happen "sooner rather than later," with a renewal status "as early as the spring."

'Harry Potter' Star Asks 'To Be Put Down' If Health Issues Worsen

Veteran actor and Harry Potter star Miriam Margolyes, 84, gave a frank interview to Weekend Magazine about her deteriorating health, saying she would rather be “put down” than continue to decline.

Why Miriam Margolyes Wants to "Be Put Down"

Margolyes, who played Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter movies and amassed dozens more credits on stage and screen, has for many years been battling spinal stenosis and osteoporosis. Both conditions have limited her mobility, and Margolyes told Closer Magazine in 2024 that she’s “registered disabled.” Speaking to Weekend Magazine recently, Margolyes revealed that she would be open to assisted death if her physical health continues to deteriorate.

“I don’t want to go through a slowly diminishing period of pain and embarrassment,” Margolyes explained. “If a stroke meant I couldn’t speak, or I was doubly incontinent, or I lost my mind completely, I would ask to be put down. That’s because I want to be who I am. I don’t want to be less than I can be."

Assisted Death Is Not Legal in Margolyes' Country

Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) differs from euthanasia in that patients themselves administer the drugs which end their lives as opposed to a doctor doing so in a medical environment. Assisted dying is not currently legal in Margolyes’ home country of the United Kingdom, but the British Parliament recently voted in favor of a bill which would make MAID legal for terminally ill patients. To qualify, however, the patient must be of sound mind and have six months or less to live. They must also be approved by doctors and a panel made up of one social worker, one senior legal figure, and one psychiatrist. The bill is currently under review.

Margolyes Blames Lack of Exercise for Her Health Problems

In 2023, Margolyes admitted to British Vogue that she has only herself to blame for her reduced mobility and health problems. She said if she could go back and do one thing differently, it would be to exercise and stay fit. “I can’t walk very well. I've limited my life because of my longing for fudge or chopped liver, cheesecake. All these absurdities. I shouldn't have been so greedy. I should have been stronger. I've let my body down,” she also told Weekend Magazine. "I haven’t taken care of it. I have to walk with a walker now. I wish I’d done exercise. It’s the most ghastly waste of time, except that it keeps you going. So, I’m foolish.”

Patrick Mahomes Had a Simple Reaction to Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift Engagement

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are engaged, and Patrick Mahomes is celebrating the couple.

Pretty much ever since Kelce and Swift went public with their relationship in September 2023, people have been speculating if and when they would get married. As time wore on, it became clear they were in it for the long haul.

On Tuesday afternoon, the duo officially announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post showing the Kansas City Chiefs tight end on his knee popping the question to the Midnights singer in the middle of an outdoor garden scene.

"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨," Swift captioned the post.

There have already been thousands of personal reactions to the news--and thousands (millions?) more to come.

Mahomes' is pretty important though, considering he's Kelce's quarterback and close friend and is tight with Swift as well.

The 3-time Super Bowl champ keeps it simple

Mahomes didn't issue any lengthy statements or crack jokes, at least not yet. On Instagram, he shared Kelce and Swift's announcement post on his Instagram story along with three red heart emojis.

It's possible that Mahomes comes out and says more on social media later today, and God knows he's going to be asked about the happy couple at his next media session and throughout the entire 2025 NFL season.

It's a family affair

Mahomes and his wife Brittany have spent lots of time with Kelce and Swift over the last two-plus years. Though Brittany Mahomes and Swift's friendship may have hit a rocky point before and after the 2024 presidential election, the two still have a seemingly strong relationship.

Brittany herself had a heartfelt reaction to today's engagement announcement.

"Two of the most genuine people meet & fall in love. Just so happy for these two," she wrote on her IG story.

It goes without saying how tight Kelce and Mahomes are. The two have formed one of the most potent quarterback/pass catcher connections in NFL history, and off the field, are good friends. They're even about to open up their own restaurant together.

Jason Kelce is almost assuredly going to be Travis' best man, but Mahomes will likely be by his side as a groomsman if we had to guess.

McDonald's Bringing Back Popular Dessert Starting August 29

Fall menus are on the horizon at major chain restaurants around the country, which means get ready for plenty of pumpkin over the next couple of months.

McDonald's is set to introduce two fall items later this week. According to McDonald's Menu Spotter, the company's version of the ubiquitous Pumpkin Spice Latte will return on Aug. 29, along with a beloved dessert item.

McDonald's is bringing back its Pumpkin & Crème Pie on Friday as well. The chain also featured the sweet, flaky tweet on its menu on a limited basis each of the last three years.

"Our Pumpkin & Crème Pie is also making its return, featuring a signature turnover-style crust filled with pumpkin pie on one side, crème on the other, and baked to perfection with a sugar coating," said McDonald's Menu Spotter. "It's the perfect pairing to your pumpkin spice latte."

A fan favorite

Based on previous comments from McDonald's customers, there will be more than a few people eagerly awaiting Friday for the opportunity to consume the Pumpkin & Crème Pie once again.

"Ok this pie option should never leave the menu again bc I LOVED them so much," one person wrote on Instagram.

"I ordered 12 last night before they closed," a second person said.

"yeah, these things taste better than they’re supposed to, I'll take 2," a Redditor added.

"I never knew this was a thing, I'm pretty excited!" a fourth person said.

"Maybe it's because I'm Mexican and calabazas run in my veins, but this is probably my favorite dessert from a fast food spot. I prefer them with coffee," another Reddit commenter wrote.

Where can you get them?

According to McDonald's Menu Spotter, the Pumpkin & Crème Pie, along with the Pumpkin Spice Latte, will be available at "participating McDonald’s restaurants nationwide starting Aug. 29 for a limited time."

If you're interested, get to Mickey D's while they're hot.

Coldplay's Chris Martin Cracks Joke About Astronomer CEO Controversy During Concert Proposal

Love was in the air at Friday's Coldplay concert, and lead singer Chris Martin made sure it wasn't the illicit kind.

Martin and his band unexpectedly became the center of a social media controversy last month when Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot, the company's head of HR, were caught in an embrace on a "kiss cam" during a Coldplay show in Massachusetts.

Byron and Cabot are both married to other people, and the immediate backlash led to them both having to step down from their jobs. It also led to a debate about the need for "kiss cams" at shows.

On Friday night at Wembley Stadium in London, a couple was back on the Jumbotron for a public proposal, with Martin cracking jokes as he helped the process along.

"Okay, now listen. My brother, I need you to nod as I do some basic security checks, okay?" the 48-year-old singer said after seeing the man's "I want to propose" sign.

"Is this person your partner? Yes? No one else’s partner?" Martin asked.

After the man nodded yes, Martin jokingly asked if the two were somehow related or were "AI" and not real people.

Time to get down on one knee

Once Martin was satisfied that all was copacetic, he continued helping the man pop the question.

"My beautiful brother, here is some advice for free. As we all look on and see you go down, I advise you to get down on one knee," he said.

After the woman answered yes in an emotional moment, Martin addressed them again as the crowd cheered.

"Congratulations, my brother and my sister," Martin said. "What a beautiful girl. What a wonderful guy. On a day like this, I encourage you to kiss. I hope you’re happy until the day that you die."

The 'kiss cam' is here to stay

If there were any doubts about Coldplay continuing to use a "kiss cam" to put unsuspecting couples on the spot at their shows, Martin erased it during a concert shortly after the infamous Boston outing of Byron and Cabot.

"You were at that Boston gig. Well, okay, thank you for coming again after that debacle," Martin said in response to a fan's sign indicating they had been at three Coldplay shows in three months.

"We've been doing [the kiss cam] a long time and it is only recently that it became a...yeah. Life throws you lemons and you've got to make lemonade. So, we are going to keep doing it because we are going to meet some of you."

Caitlin Clark Believes in Tommy Fleetwood Heading Into Tour Championship Final Round

There might not be a more snakebit athlete in the world right now than Tommy Fleetwood, but Caitlin Clark has faith in the 34-year-old Englishman heading into the final round of the Tour Championship Sunday.

Fleetwood has infamously never won on the PGA Tour. A seven-time winner on the European Tour, he's come tantalizingly close to winning all four majors but has never finished better than second.

Most recently, Fleetwood had a heartbreaking collapse down the stretch at the Travelers Championship in June and also fell apart in the final round at the FedEx St. Jude Championship earlier this month.

Fleetwood went into today tied with Patrick Cantlay atop the Tour Championship leaderboard at 16-under. After an early birdie, he now holds a two-shot advantage over Russell Henley.

Caitlin Clark is a Fleetwood believer

There's a long way to go this afternoon, but Caitlin Clark made it clear she thinks Fleetwood will finally snap the curse.

Clark, an avid golfer when she's not competing in the WNBA, is paying close attention to the Tour Championship and sent out a message on X/Twitter about Fleetwood before he teed things up.

"This has to be Fleetwood’s day," Clark wrote.

Fleetwood keeps a brave face

Despite his reputation as a hard-luck loser, Fleetwood has tried to remain upbeat.

Following his most recent near-miss at the St. Jude Championship, Fleetwood said he aimed to "keep pushing forward and try and put myself in that position again.”

Well, here he is.

“I think I'm playing really good golf,” Fleetwood said before the Tour Championship. “Just because … things haven't worked out for me before doesn't mean they won't work out this week.

“I think I'm doing a lot of things well and just happy that I've got off to a great start in another tournament and I'm there again.”

Tommy Paul on Building a Mental Edge for the US Open

Born on May 17, 1997, in Voorhees Township, New Jersey, Tommy Paul picked up a tennis racket as a child and never put it down. By 18, he was already on the pro circuit, announcing himself in a big way when he took home the junior Roland Garros title over fellow American Taylor Fritz. From there, he steadily climbed the ranks, with his breakout moment coming in 2023 when he battled into the semifinals of the Australian Open, his first Grand Slam semifinal appearance.

Now, over a decade after his first US Open, Paul is back in New York with far more than just youthful excitement on his side. What once felt like a dream has evolved into a career defined by hard work, focus, and consistency, qualities he admits weren’t top of mind when he was starting out.

“I feel like I didn't know anything at that time,” he says. “I was just super excited to be there. I feel like now, I've just surrounded myself with really good people, people who push me to do all the right things. I work a lot harder. I'm much more focused on my goals. I'm more focused on my recovery between matches. I'm just more overall professional now versus then.”

That shift is clear. Over the past few years, Paul has cemented himself as one of America’s top players. He reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon in 2024 and followed it up with an appearance at the French Open quarterfinals in 2025, making him the first American man to reach that stage in Paris since Andre Agassi in 2003.

His preparation has evolved just as much as his game. What used to be long hours of raw practice has transformed into a finely tuned routine built around performance and recovery. Mornings are reserved for multi-hour training blocks on the court, followed by lunch and then running or interval-style weight sessions in the afternoon to keep his body at peak capacity.

“We always do tennis first just because we want to really prioritize my tennis, and we don't want to wear down my body before going out onto the tennis court. We'll do super long sessions where we'll go three or four hours to kind of get the body used to it because that's what we've got to be in New York.”

Those are the days Paul says are toughest, on both his mind and his body. Mornings are spent sprinting, cutting, and changing direction at lightning speed, only to come back a few hours later for another punishing block of body work. It’s the price of climbing the ranks, fueled by nothing more than love for the game. And training in Boca Raton gives him a unique edge. If he can handle Florida’s sweltering summers, he says, no fall in New York can come close.

“And then obviously with all that working out, you really [have] to make sure that you're recovering going into the U.S. Open because you can really beat your body down,” Paul says.

Recovery is now just as much a part of his training as time on the court. For him, that means plenty of massage work, ice baths, and fueling with his must-have Dymatize product, the fast-absorbing ISO100 protein.

But it isn’t only his body he’s training. Paul believes his greatest advantage lies in his mind, especially in the marathon matches that define the Open.

“I absolutely want to do everything I can to win that match,” he says. “So having your mind there is so important. And sometimes your mind has to be stronger than your body. And that's kind of where it comes to when you get into a fifth set, you're both very tired, and it's kind of whose mind's going to push their body to go harder.”

Jeff Bezos Has a Morning Ritual He Swears By. Research Backs It Up

Amazon founder, billionaire, and newlywed Jeff Bezos has a morning ritual that he swears by.

Many sites have called it the "one-hour rule," and research backs it up, although Bezos didn't put an exact time frame on the practice when he outlined it in interviews. Simply put, in the mornings, he takes it easy, and stays off of electronic devices.

Here's how it works.

Jeff Bezos Says He Likes to 'Putter in the Morning'

Bezos gave details about his morning routine while speaking at the Economic Club. In the well-known interview, Bezos detailed his morning routine. He said he doesn't like meetings before 10 a.m., and he likes to get eight hours of sleep.

"I like to putter in the morning. I get up early. I go to bed early, I get up early. I like to putter in the morning. I like to read the newspaper. I like to have coffee," he said in the 2018 interview.

"I like to have breakfast with my kids before they go to school. So, I have my kind of puttering time," he said, indicating that it "is very important to me. So, that's why I set my first meeting at 10 o'clock. I like to do my high IQ meetings before lunch. Anything that's going to be really mentally challenging, that's a 10 o'clock meeting."

At 5 p.m., Bezos revealed, "I can't think about that today. Then on sleep, I get eight hours of sleep. I prioritize it... I am very focused on it... I think better; I have more energy. My mood is better. All these things. Think about it, as a senior executive, what do you really get paid to do? As a senior executive, you get paid to make a small number of high-quality decisions." Bezos indicated that his slower morning ritual makes him better at doing that.

His new wife, before they married, indicated in 2024 that they were both following the process.

"My favorite part of the day is the morning," Lauren Sanchez told People in 2024.

"I love waking up. I make myself a cup of coffee. I make Jeff a cup of coffee, and we kind of have this magic moment where it's just us talking," she explained. "The kids haven't woken up yet. And we don't get on our phones. That's one of the rules."

Does the One-Hour Rule Really Work?

Experts have weighed in on the negative effects of excessive phone screen time. Putting your phone down makes sense, including in the morning.

“The negative effects of screen time are insidious because you can’t see what’s happening in your brain as you’re staring at the screen,” Maris Loeffler, MA, Family and Marriage Therapist, member of the Stanford Lifestyle Medicine Cognitive Enhancement pillar, said to Stanford Lifestyle Medicine. “If you scrolled on your phone in bed for an hour just one morning, the negative impacts would be minimal. But if it becomes a habit, day after day, month after month, this behavior can take a toll.”

A research article in Frontiers in Psychiatry, studied excessive smart phone usage in young adults and adolescents and found, "Excessive smartphone use is associated with difficulties in cognitive-emotion regulation, impulsivity, impaired cognitive function, addiction to social networking, shyness and low self-esteem. Medical problems include sleep problems, reduced physical fitness, unhealthy eating habits, pain and migraines, reduced cognitive control and changes in the brain's gray matter volume."

All 3 of The Beatles 'Anthology 4' Release Dates, Explained

Fifty-five years after their breakup, and several decades after the deaths of John Lennon and George Harrison, The Beatles are still releasing new music and creating new twists in their ever-expanding mythology. The biggest and most popular rock band in the world tends to assert a kind of definitive retrospective every few years, but in 2025, The Beatles are rebooting and expanding a previous multimedia project that was previously released back in 1995.

As detailed by Variety, The Beatles brand is set to release an expansion of The Beatles Anthology project from 1995. Back then, Anthology consisted of three double-albums, a massive coffee table book, and an eight-part documentary. Now, there will be a fourth album — Anthology 4 — a ninth episode of the documentary, and a newly revised book. Here's what to know about each separate release date for the new Beatles Anthology 2025.

October 14, 2025: New Beatles Anthology Book

The first of the new BeatlesAnthology releases will be the newly revised book, which is billed as the band's "autobiography." The book retails for roughly $50.00, depending on where you get it.

November 21, 2025: Beatles Anthology Music Releases

The main event of The Beatles Anthology 2025 is the release of the music collections. This will consist of reissues of the first three Beatles: Anthologies, which, in 1995, were each comprised of two CDs. The entire purpose of the Anthology albums was to present alternative takes, outtakes, and previously unreleased music. For this reason, none of the Anthology albums contain the "regular" Beatles recordings available on other albums or compilations.

Before the new release, there were only three Anthology collections, but now, there will be a fourth one. What's on it? According to Variety:"13 previously unreleased demos and session recordings, alongside other outtakes that already appeared on the band’s deluxe editions in recent years."

This means that if you've been following the "Super Deluxe" reissues of various Beatles albums over the past few years, some of those bonus tracks will be on the new Anthology 4, in addition to 13 previously unheard songs. On top of that, the new Anthology 4will contain remixed versions of "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love."

These two songs were created for the previous Anthology albums back in 1995, and were each created from lost recordings from John Lennon, and, at the time, new recordings from Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison. This kind of thing happened again, in 2023, when McCartney and Starr collobrated to create "Now and Then," another contemporary Beatles song which used a Lennon vocal track, with new contributions from the surviving members of the band.

November 26, 2025: Remastered Beatles Anthology Series Begins Streaming on Disney+

The final part of the this project is the re-release of the documentary series, The Beatles Anthology. The first three episodes of this series will start streaming on November 26, with subsequent episodes dropping weekly. The ninth and final episode of the series will be entirely new.

‘Peacemaker’ Vigilante Actor on Working With ‘Unbelievably Shredded’ John Cena

Sometimes you just have to call a spade a spade. That was the case for Peacemaker actor Freddie Stroma, who plays Vigilante, the sidekick/best bud of John Cena’s leading character. The Vigilante actor spoke about stepping into the role during Season 1 of the hit series, while also expanding on Season 2 and working alongside Cena and the popular Peacemaker character.

The 38-year-old actor specifically addressed what it was like for the “ego” standing next to Cena half the time, considering he’s certainly in good shape himself. However, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Stroma admitted that Cena is “just so many leagues away” in regard to his fitness.

Stroma Praises ‘Peacemaker’ Star John Cena as ‘Muscular and Shredded’

Stroma had no problem giving his honest assessment on the topic while praising Cena for his stellar physique, something that’s remained throughout his career in both the WWE and as an actor. While speaking with THR, the Vigilante actor said it’s not too bad standing next to Cena, when the rest of the cast is all in “the same ballpark,” but did give the Peacemaker star a tip of the cap.

“Well, it’s actually not too bad,” Stroma said. “If you’re in a show with other people who are kind of— you’re all in the same ballpark [build-wise] — it can be quite, you know, competitive or intimidating. John’s just so unbelievably big and muscular and shredded that I just don’t even think about it, because it’s just, he’s just so many leagues away.”

You have to respect the honesty of Stroma, and it seems the cast has essentially just gotten used to the fact that Cena truly stands on his own in this regard.

‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Debuts to Impressive Ratings

The hit HBO Max series returned on Thursday, Aug. 21, and has been met with high praise from critics and fans alike thus far. Through the first 47 critic reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, Peacemaker Season 2 stands with a stellar 98 percent rating.

While it’s early in the fan review process, viewers have largely echoed the high praise, giving it an 85 percent rating on the fan-focused Popcornmeter, based on 250-plus ratings. Peacemaker Season 2 has also been dubbed as “certified fresh” by Rotten Tomatoes, and remains one of the highest-rated movies or shows on the popular site.

Metacritic has also given Peacemaker a solid initial score from critics, checking in with a 78 percent score on 16 critics' reviews. The fan ratings check in at 6.4 based on 17 user reviews, with a surprising seven giving it a “negative” mark.

Coroner Confirms Tragic Finding About Skydiver Who Fell to Her Death

A seasoned skydiver fell over 15,000 feet to her death earlier this year, and now a coroner is shedding light on what happened. Jade Damarell, a 32-year-old marketing manager and "very experienced skydiver," passed away on April 27 due to blunt force injuries sustained during her tragic fall.

Four months later, an inquest was held at Crook Civic Centre in County Durham near where the incident took place. At the August 21 hearing, a coroner determined that Damarell deliberately fell without deploying her parachute, ruling her death a suicide. The Guardian reported the news.

Damarell and her partner had ended their relationship a day before her death, as reported by coroner Dr. Leslie Hamilton at the inquest. That same day, she had safely completed six skydiving attempts. Throughout her life, Damarell had done more than 500 jumps successfully.

Following her final jump near Fleming Airfield, Durham police DI Andrew Stephenson discovered notes addressed to the deceased family, "apologising [sic] and thanking them for their support.” She had also left instructions on how to access her phone and finances for those she left behind.

Authorities also concluded that Damarell had intentionally turned off her safety parachute device, which is supposed to automatically deploy at a certain altitude. The skydiver usually wore a helmet with a camera attached to the top, but chose to dive without it on the day of her death. A toxicology report came back clean of any alcohol or drugs.

Damarell's parents attended the inquest remotely and accepted the outcome, which ruled their daughter's death a suicide. "Our beloved daughter Jade was a brilliant, beautiful, brave and truly extraordinary person," they said in a report following the hearing, "a bright, adventurous, free spirit, she lived with immense energy, passion and love and touched countless lives with her warmth and kindness."
