America Prepares for Dangerous Weather Through Next Week

The United States is going to experience a heat wave this week and into next, with temperatures flirting with record-breaking highs.

According to Tyler Ory of CNN, the National Weather Service is raising the heat risk level to three, just one notch below the max, from Washington, D.C. to parts of Florida through Thursday.

Those areas are expected to see temperatures in the low- to mid-90s, but with humidity, it could feel like temperatures are in the triple digits. Virginia and the Carolinas are expected to see the brunt of the heat.

But other parts of the United States won't be spared.

The northeast and central parts of the country will also get hit with the heat wave through the weekend and into next week.

The heat risk level is expected to hit 4-of-4 early next week in parts of St. Louis, Chicago, New York City and Washington, D.C., among other areas.

Denver and Washington, D.C., in particular could hit as high as 100 degrees or more, with Denver possibly touching 101 degrees. Temperatures in New York City may reach as high as 96 degrees, and Boston could touch the mid-90s on Tuesday.

In all, there's a chance that more than 150 temperature records could be shattered next week. The NWS warns that "anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration" should plan accordingly.
