The Cleveland Cavaliers have suspended Tristan Thompson after he violated the NBA’s anti-drug policy.
Thompson will miss 25 games after testing positive for ibutamoren and SARM LGD-4033, TMZ reported. Those drugs are considered to enhance performance, as they speed up injury recovery and give players more strength. Thompson’s suspension will be effective as of Wednesday, when the Cavs are slated to face the Milwaukee Bucks.
Thompson just joined the team back in September, after originally being drafted by the Cavaliers in 2011. He won an NBA championship with the team in 2016. The athlete also served notable tenures with the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Sacramento Kings.
Thompson hasn’t publicly commented on his suspension. Before his suspension, he played 36 games during the season. He averaged 3.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per contest.
