Mark Sanchez is hospitalized with critical injuries but now listed in stable condition, after he was stabbed in Indianapolis ahead of his Fox Sports assignment to call the Colts-Raiders game.

As first reported by TMZ, police were called to the scene at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, on a downtown Indianapolis street. It's reported that two people were injured in the incident, including the former USC football star and NFL quarterback.

Sanchez, 38, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but he is now in stable condition. At this moment, it's unclear what led to the stabbing incident and the exact injuries he sustained.

“We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time," Fox Sports said in a statement.

Sanchez grew up in Mission Viejo, California, and played for California powerhouse Mission Viejo High School. He was a highly-touted recruit and ended up at USC. He was a backup before eventually landing the starting role after three years.

Sanchez was selected by the New York Jets as the No. 5 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He went on to play for the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, and the then-Washington Redskins.

He joined Fox Sports as an NFL analyst in 2021.
