'Euphoria' Stars Pay Tribute to Angus Cloud

Euphoria actor Angus Cloud died this week at age 25, after the Oakland Fire Department was called to a medical emergency at his family home in Oakland, CA on Monday and found him "already deceased" on arrival. In the days since his passing, Cloud's costars have come forward to pay tribute to the rising star who was taken from us far too soon.

Cloud played the fan-favorite character Fezco, a local drug dealer who had a close relationship to Zendaya's "Rue" Bennett, on the gritty HBO teen drama series. On Tuesday, the 26-year-old singer and actress shared a photo of Cloud on Instagram, with touching words about her friend and costar.

"Words are not enough to describe the infinite beauty that is Angus," Zendaya wrote. "I’m so grateful I got the chance to know him in this life, to call him a brother, to see his warm kind eyes and bright smile, or hear his infectious cackle of a laugh. (I’m smiling now just thinking of it.) I know people use this expression often when talking about folks they love… "they could light up any room they entered," but boy let me tell you, he was the best at it. I’d like to remember him that way. For all of the boundless light, love and joy he always managed to give us. I’ll cherish every moment."

"My heart is with his mother and family at this time and please be kind and patient as grief looks different for everyone."

Maude Apatow, whose character Lexi Howard's budding relationship with Fezco was a central plotline in season two of Euphoriashared her own words on Wednesday.

"Angus was the funniest person ever. I would get so excited to see on the schedule that we would be working together because I knew we’d have the best day, laughing so hard," she wrote. "He was the sweetest and made everyone around him so happy. He was just the best. Words can’t really capture how magical of a person he was. My heart is broken."

She concluded her message by telling Cloud that getting to know and work with him was "one of the greatest joys and blessings" of her life, and that she would love him forever.

Singer-songwriter Dominic Fike, who joined the cast of Euphoria in season two, paid tribute to Cloud onstage during a concert in Houston on Tuesday night.

"I sometimes look at people like, sparks, like I zoom out, and I think people have like, wavelengths," Fike said, while strumming his guitar. "And if you zoom out far enough, you see some people—probably not a lot of us at all—but I think if you zoomed out millions of miles, you would see this kid’s spark. You know, you could see it from so far away, even if it was a short flash. He would light up a room, any room he walked in. He’s a fucking good dude."

"Angus you were an open soul, with the kindest heart, and you filled every room with laughter," wrote Sydney Sweeney, who stars as Cassie Howard, Lexi's older sister, sharing a galley of throwbacks on Instagram.

"This is the hardest thing I've ever had to post, and I'm struggling to find all the words," she continued. "You will be missed more than you know, but I'm so blessed to have known you in this lifetime, and I'm sure everyone who has ever met you feels the same. This heartache is real and I wish we could've had one more hug and 711 run. All my love is with you."

Perhaps most heartbreakingly of all was 17-year-old Javon Walton's tribute. Walton portrayed Fez's unofficially adopted "little brother" on Euphoria, and began working with Cloud at just 12 years old. In his own Instagram post alongside a photo of the two in an embrace, Walton simply wrote: "Rest easy brother."

Just a week before Cloud's passing, he had attended the funeral of his father in Ireland, and was said to have taken the loss pretty hard.

In addition to Euphoria, Cloud had appeared in several music videos for artists such as Juice WRLD, Noah Cyrus, Becky G, and Carol G. He also had several film projects in development at the time of his death.
