Victor Wembanyama hasn't even started with the San Antonio Spurs yet, but an ultra-rare, one-of-a-kind rookie recently ended up in the hands of collectors that's estimated to be worth six figures.
The card was pulled by Bleacher Breaks, which has been doing live breaks of sports cards online since 2017. Sports card breakers typically buy entire boxes and cases of cards, and then charge individual collectors for the opportunity to "buy in" a selection based on team, divisional, individual player, or other factors. It was during one of these live videos that Bleacher Breaks discovered the Bowman University San Antonio Spurs Wembanyama Superfractor rookie card.
As you can see in the below clip, the card breakers completely freaked out once they realized the valuable card they had on their hands. In addition to being the only one of its kind, the unique superfractor design variation—the rarest parallel of the refractor card, limited to only one copy, per player card, per set—only adds to its rarity.

If sold now, the card is believed to be worth over $100,000.
Since being selected as the first overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2023 NBA draft earlier this summer, memorabilia for the seven-foot, five-inch power forward has already skyrocketed in value. Upon being recruited, Wembanyama became the first ever French player to be drafted with the first overall pick and the second European player to achieve the milestone.
At just 19 years old, Wembanyama is already being considered one of the greatest NBA prospects of his generation, as well as the most anticipated prospect since LeBron James in 2003. It's unclear who currently owns the rookie card, but suffice to say, one lucky collector just hit the jackpot.
