Andy Samberg’s Best ‘Saturday Night Live’ Digital Shorts, Ranked

Long before he was the star of the hit television series Brooklyn Nine-Nine and in funny movies like Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, Hot Rod, and the buzzy Sundance hit Palm Springs, Andy Samberg was making people laugh as a cast member on Saturday Night Live.

While Samberg put together some hilarious characters and skits over the years on SNL, his biggest legacy might be making SNL Digital Shorts into a powerhouse. With his Lonely Island crew of Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, Samberg created some of the most iconic digital videos that have ever hit the internet, including ones like “Lazy Sunday” and “Dick in a Box.”

“We were not aware of YouTube until ‘Lazy Sunday,’” Samberg told Men’s Journal in his March 2020 cover story. “We’d had our own website with streaming capabilities. After ‘Lazy Sunday,’ we were like, ‘Why are we paying for bandwidth and shit?’”

Since making their debut in the 2005-2006 season, SNL Digital Shorts have become a stalwart of every season of Saturday Night Live, bringing cast members, special guests, hosts, and musical guests in for some of the funniest parts of some episodes. With Samberg helping to establish Saturday Night Live Digital Shorts, here’s a look at some of the best ones from his run at SNL.
