According to the ranking, Terminator 2: Judgment Day is the best action film of all time with 7,578 upvotes and 2,979 downvotes. Unsurprisingly, Die Hard was ranked second, but it only received 1,271 upvotes and 420 downvotes, meaning T2 was in first place with a comfortable lead in the thousands.
Ranker's article detailed several reasons why Terminator 2: Judgment Day topped the list. The outlet credited the beloved film for showcasing "groundbreaking visual effects," an "intense storyline," "epic chase scenes", and "thrilling showdowns between cyborgs." Those are only some of the reasons why the film is an all-time classic that has passed the test of time and defines the action genre for many.

Truly a masterpiece, Terminator 2: Judgment Day features everything you could want in an action movie and more. For example, simply mentioning that it features "epic chase scenes" doesn't go nearly far enough. After all, that implies two cars driving down a roadway. In actuality, T2 features a helicopter performing dangerous low-to-the-ground stunts as it chases an armored truck and fires upon the people inside. It also showcases a transport truck and motorcycle chase that includes both vehicles performing dangerous jumps. Of course, the movie also arguably showcases the most impressive running ever captured on film, which leads to the T-1000 chasing after a car.
More than just a chase movie, Terminator 2: Judgment Day's unforgettable scene of Arnold Schwarzenegger using a minigun to rain down bullets from a building is incredible to watch. All of that is to say nothing about the T-800 and T-1000 battles and the fact that all of the action matters because the movie really makes viewers care about the characters.
