Marlon Wayans on Discussing Son’s Transition in New Comedy Special

Marlon Wayans opened up in a new interview with People about accepting his son’s transition and choosing to discuss the deeply personal matter in his upcoming stand-up special.

Wayans has previously admitted having a hard time accepting his eldest son Kai, 24, formerly Amai, coming out as transgender. “I talk about the transition,” Wayans said on an episode of The Breakfast Club last November. “Not their transition, but my transition as a parent, going from ignorance and denial to complete unconditional love and acceptance. And I think there's a lot of parents out there that need to have that message. And I'm dealing with it. It was a very painful situation for me."

Wayans told People that he went “from defiance to acceptance. It took me all of a week, and in that week I grew the most that I ever did in my life. You understand the purpose of kids and the beauty of unconditional love. At the end of the day, in my heart, [the] only thing that matters to me is that my child is happy.”

Now, he’s sharing that message with other parents who might need to hear it in his fourth stand-up special,  Good Grief, premiering June 4 on Amazon Prime Video. He hopes “to gift not just laughter but some lessons.”

Wayans said Kai had no issue with their father using a particularly personal chapter of their lives to entertain sprawling audiences. “I have a contract with my kids: ‘Whatever you do in life, just know that there’s a possibility I’m going to find some humor and talk about it,’” Wayans explained.

"I feel like it was important for me to once again find the light in the darkness," he continued, "and gift that to the audience because I feel like there's so many people that are going through it."

Good Grief premieres on Amazon Prime Video on June 6.

Announcers' Banter About Olivia Dunne Turns Awkward On Air

LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne has amassed quite a following online during her collegiate career. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model is known for turning heads both on and off the mat, and sometimes, her relationship with MLB player Paul Skenes attracts just as much attention.

On May 29, Skenes and his Pittsburgh Pirates teammates took on the Detroit Tigers, and during the game, his relationship with Dunne became a hot topic for some announcers watching the game. Johnny Kane, Trevor Thompson, and Carlos Pena were commentating for Bally Sports Detroit during a segment highlighting Dunne and Skenes and calling them "Gen Z's new power couple."

Kane was looking at his phone, and Thompson jokingly asked, "What’s going on there, man? Are you looking up Livvy Dunne?" Pena quipped "She just gained one more follower." Thompson continued the fun by asking Kane, "You're gonna follow her on all the socials, Johnny?"

Kane fired back with a rhetorical question of his own. "Are you interviewing Livvy in the stands today?" he said. Thompson had a simple answer. "If I see her I’m going to try to track her down [and] see if she’ll come on to Bally Sports with us. Why not, right?"

Dunne and Skenes' relationship dates back to their early years in college at Louisiana State University. They met through mutual friends and remained together as they focused on their sports—Dunne on gymnastics and Skenes on baseball. Skenes went on to join the MLB while Dunne just graduated from LSU, though she's eligible to compete for a fifth year.

It remains to be seen if she becomes a constant fixture in the stands at Skenes' games.

Teens' Unique Senior Prank Involved a Fake Trader Joe's

Americans love Trader Joe's for its affordable options and unique food and drink offerings. So when residents of a small Maryland town saw a TJ's location was coming soon to their community, many rejoiced at the news. But it turns out it was all too good to be true.

High school seniors in Pasadena, Maryland pulled quite a senior prank on their friends and neighbors that has since gone viral. All it took was a simple sign and some clever meme work.

"Yesterday the senior class of our local high school pranked the entire town! They hung a banner in front of an empty grocery store property that said 'Coming soon: Trader Joe's with a QR code that Rickrolls you," local resident Marlena Calobong said, referencing the act of trolling by sending someone a link to the music video for Rick Astley's 1987 hit song "Never Gonna Give You Up."

"The whole town was abuzz yesterday morning, thinking we were getting a Trader Joe's! And again this morning to find out it was just a prank," she continued. "Well, they got us all! That was a good one!"

Calobong admitted to Today that she was thrilled at first before her friend told her that it was all a joke.

"We were extremely excited to see a sign pop up that we were getting another Trader Joe’s close to home," she said. "We were sad to find out the next day it was a prank. Definitely tricked us all."

If you're in the area, you'll have to drive a bit to shop at Trader Joe's in Elkridge or Annapolis.

Rescuers Desperately Searching for Stranded Mountain Climbers

Rescue crews in Denali National Park and Preserve are desperately searching for a pair of stranded mountain climbers who are reportedly suffering from hypothermia. On Wednesday, the National Park Service issued a press release detailing the recovery efforts.

At around 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning, rangers received an SOS communication from three climbers who were at the 20,310-foot summit of Mount Denali. The rangers were able to maintain communication until about 3:30 a.m., when the team informed authorities of their plan to descend. After that message, rangers did not hear back from the climbers and the location of their device did not change.

“At 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, the Alaska Air National Guard launched an HC-130J Combat King II from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska to attempt to locate the climbing team,” the press release reported.

Two of the pararescuers on board the HC-130J caught sight of two stranded climbers around the area from which they last transmitted. However, they were unable to attempt a rescue due to cloud cover creating issues for the “high-altitude helicopter.”

The third climber was located at 18,600 feet by a climbing guide who eventually ushered them to medical personnel. They were taken in “critical” condition to a LifeMed helicopter.

Two further attempts were made to rescue the remaining stranded adventurers, but the weather made it impossible. As of Wednesday evening, rescuers were waiting for “clouds and windy conditions to dissipate” across Denali before sending further resources up the mountain.

This is a developing story. Check back later for more information.

Win Free Stay at Caesar’s Palace to Celebrate ‘The Hangover’ 15th Anniversary

To celebrate The Hangover’s 15th anniversary on June 5, Casino.org is offering true fans a free night’s stay at Caesars Palace in the iconic Hangover suite seen in the film.

Lest we forget, The Hangover starred Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis as hapless bros who lose track of the groom (Justin Bartha) at his own bachelor party. The room, which is worth up to $2,200 per night, is the setting for some of the most iconic sequences in Todd Phillips’ 2009 comedy. Notably, it’s the room in which the boys return to find Mike Tyson (famously playing himself) irate over the theft of his beloved pet tiger.

But the contest is deliberately designed for Hangover super-fans; so if you haven’t seen the movie since its release and are hoping to win a free trip to Vegas, you might be disappointed. The official entry form, which goes live on May 31, contains a trivia section quizzing fans on their Hangover knowledge.

“We recommend you watch The Hangover once, twice, maybe thrice before opening the quiz as we’ll be testing your Hangover comprehension!” Casino.org promises. Fans will be expected to regurgitate granular details about the character’s medical ailments, obscure facts about minor supporting characters, and detailed recollections of costumes.

The Hangover comically embodies everything that is Vegas—extravagance, luck, and fun far beyond the ordinary,” Casino.org’s Alex Korsager told Men’s Journal. “What better way to honor the cultural relic that is The Hangover than by celebrating in the very place that inspired such a film 15 years ago?”

Winners should be prepared for not only the trip of a lifetime but a few unexpected treats, as well. According to Casino.org, “The winner is also in for a Hangover-inspired surprise in the hotel room! No promises, it’s not a tiger.”

Submissions are open from May 31 until June 30, so act quickly if you hope to beat other Hangover aficionados to the punch. You can click here to enter the contest.

Major Decision Made in Scottie Scheffler Arrest Charges

Prosecutors have agreed to drop all charges against pro golfer Scottie Scheffler, after the 27-year-old was arrested in Louisville, KY on May 17 prior to his second round of the 2024 PGA Championship. Scheffler was detained by authorities after he seemed to misunderstand the flow of traffic being diverted around a fatal bus crash in the early morning hours, and inadvertently attempted to drive past a police officer into the Valhalla Golf Club.

Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell filed a motion to dismiss the charges on Wednesday, backing up Scheffler's claim that the whole thing had been a "big misunderstanding" that had been "corroborated by the evidence."

The top ranked golfer had been accused of dragging the officer with his car, and was facing charges of second-degree felony assault, as well as misdemeanors charges of third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic. However, in newly-surfaced video of the arrest, Scheffler could be heard explaining that he mistook the officer for a club security guard, admitting that he had been little impatient because he was running late for tee time.

Local reporter Terry Meiners was among the first to break the news that the charges against Scheffler would be dropped. "The agreement stipulates that both sides agree not to pursue any legal action related to the ramifications of the May 17 arrest," Meiners posted to X Wednesday morning.

It's unclear whether the incident affected Scheffler's performance, who was eventually released from police custody before the start of his second-round tee time on the morning of his arrest, shooting an impressive 5-under 66. However, in the third round, Scheffler broke his streak with a two-over 73, finishing the tournament at 13-under par, tied for eighth place.

"I feel like my head is still spinning,’’ Scheffler said following his performance on the day of his arrest. "I can’t really explain what happened this morning. I was pretty rattled to say the least. I was never angry. I was just in shock. I was shaking for like an hour. It was definitely a new feeling for me."

Jimmy Kimmel Speaks Out Following Young Son’s Latest Heart Surgery

Jimmy Kimmel posted an emotional tribute to his seven-year-old son, Billy, after the child underwent his third heart surgery over the weekend.

Kimmel has previously opened up about his son’s heart condition, notably in an emotional 2017 monologue shortly after Billy was born. At just three days old, the infant had to undergo open-heart surgery to treat a rare congenital heart defect. It prompted Kimmel to advocate for wider health care coverage regardless of income during a Jimmy Kimmel Live! monologue.

On Memorial Day, the talk show host posted a photo of Billy sitting in his hospital bed, a wide smile across his face.

“This weekend, our boy Billy had his third (of three, we hope) open heart surgery,” Kimmel wrote. “We went into this experience with a lot of optimism and nearly as much fear and came out with a new valve inside a happy, healthy kid.”

Kimmel went on to praise his son’s doctors and the entire staff at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, once again calling for affordable healthcare for all. “Walking around this hospital, meeting parents at their most vulnerable, children in pain, and the miracle workers who do everything in their considerable power to save them is a humbling experience.

“We hope you never need CHLA, but if you do—know that they help families regardless of their ability to pay, thanks largely to the Affordable Care Act (another salute to the late Senator John McCain), generous donations from companies like Disney, which I am proud to work for, and especially from generous people like you.”

Kimmel concluded: “Thank you to my wife Molly for being stronger than is reasonable for any Mom to be and Billy, you are the toughest (and funniest) seven-year-old we know. There are so many parents and children who aren’t fortunate enough to go home after five days,” the comedian reflected. “Nothing matters more than taking care of each other.”

Many of Kimmel’s famous friends poured into the comments to support Billy’s recovery. “God bless your little Billy,” wrote John Stamos. “He’s lucky he has parents like you and also the care of the good folks at CHLA.”

“Sending love to your whole family and a thanks to everyone at CHLA for everything you do,” Ellen Degeneres weighed in.

“You're all are sweethearts!” wrote Jimmy Kimmel Live! director Bobcat Goldthwait.

You can visit the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles website to learn more about their mission.

Can Eating Ramen Noodles Lead To Kidney Stones? Doctors Explain Dietary Risk Factors And Prevention Tips

Recently, a 24-year-old social media influencer named Lucy Mourad was hospitalized with kidney stones after reportedly eating Buldak noodles - a popular South Korean instant ramen noodles brand - weekly for several months. Mourad told Daily Mail in a recent interview that she had been "eating more and more" of the ramen "over the past few months" when she began experiencing symptoms like back pain and pain in her belly. She also noticed changes in her urine. In a bid to spread awareness, Mourad shared her experience on social media, cautioning people to be more careful about consuming sodium-rich snacks such as instant noodles.

"Buldak ramen... It's a huge contributing factor," she told Daily Mail. The USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) recommends people eat no more than 2,300 milligrams of salt per day - or about one teaspoon. According to The Sun, the spice packet of Buldak ramen contains about 1,280 milligrams of salt per serving - about half a person's daily recommended dose.

Mourad's experience went viral on social media, with several others sharing their health problems when eating too much ramen. Dr Anthony Youn, MD, FACS, also posted a video on his Instagram handle, explaining "How ramen noodles can lead to kidney stones! And what to do to avoid them!"

How Eating Ramen Noodles Can Increase Risk Of Kidney Stones

Explaining the same, Dr Vikram Kalra - Consultant Nephrologist at CK Birla Hospital(R), Delhi, says, "Ramen noodles, often high in sodium and low in nutritional value, can contribute to the development of kidney stones. Ramen noodles' high sodium content has the potential to raise urine calcium levels, which when combined with other waste products, can result in kidney stones. Also, ramen noodles are deficient in vital minerals like citrate and magnesium, which support healthy kidney function overall and reduce the risk of kidney stones. While enjoying ramen noodles, think about reducing your salt intake by using low-sodium varieties or just a little amount of the spice packet, and adding fresh or steamed vegetables to boost flavour. This will help prevent kidney stones."

4 Tips To Prevent Kidney Stones

The following tips are shared by Dr Vikram Kalra to prevent kidney stones:

1. Drink Enough Water:

Drinking enough water to stay hydrated helps dilute urine, which lowers the chance of stones forming.

2. Eat Citrus Fruits, Almonds, And Leafy Greens:

Kidney health is supported by eating a balanced diet that includes foods high in citrate and magnesium, such as citrus fruits, almonds, and leafy greens.

3. Limit Consumption Of Certain Foods:

Reducing the risk can also be accomplished by limiting foods high in oxalate, such as spinach, and consuming less animal protein in balance with foods high in calcium.

4. Consult Health Experts:

By making dietary changes, consulting with a nutritionist or nephrologist can help reduce the incidence of kidney stones and offer individualized guidance.

People are Obsessed With This TikTok Cottage Cheese Hack

Nutritionists and dietitians have long touted the health benefits of cottage cheese, which is low and calories yet high in protein and other nutrients and can assist with weight loss and muscle gain. However, not everyone finds the dairy product exactly palatable, with a runny, watery consistency and chunky curds.

Enter TikTok, where a decidedly much more tasty way to eat cottage cheese has emerged. Instead of trying to mask the consistency by adding fruit or spreading on pieces of toast—people are now baking the stuff.

A cursory search for "baked cottage cheese" yields hundreds of results on the social media platform, with some simply spreading it on a baking sheet or parchment paper and others coming up with slightly more complicated and inventive recipes.

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Katie Austin shared the basic hack on her TikTok account last month after hearing others rave about it. As you can see in her video, below, when baked, cottage cheese turns crispy and brown around the edges.

"I am so freaking amazed at how many things cottage cheese can do," Austin shared in her brief tutorial. "I just found out through a TikTok video that you can actually bake cottage cheese into like a flatbread, or a crisp, or maybe a tortilla, in a sense."

"Low carb, high protein, it's so cheesy, yummy, and so easy—it's literally one ingredient so why not try it," she added.

@katieaustin

I am in awe!!! You literally have to try this 1 ingredient, high protein, low carb tortilla crisp!!! Pls trust me its actually so weirdly good

♬ original sound - Katie Austin

While you can certainly spread straight cottage cheese straight from the container and pop it in the oven, others are elevating their skills. In the below video posted by author and food blogger Healthy Little Peach, she attempts the "viral cottage cheese flatbread" by blending a cup of the curds along with two eggs, garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian seasoning to make a chicken sandwich.

The conclusion? "It is so. Flipping. Good," she says between mouthfuls on sandwich.

@healthylittlepeach

The viral cottage cheese flatbread blew my mind. It grossed me out when I first saw it, but now that I’ve tried it, it’s AMAZING! Thanks @healthymumway for creating this amazing recipe. I also sqw @Shredhappens version. 10/10! 1 cup cottage cheese 2 eggs 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp onion powder 1.5 tsp Italian seasoning -Add to a blender or food processor. Blend well. Line a small baking pan with parchment paper. Pour the cottage cheese mixture in and spread out evenly. -Bake on 350F for 40 minutes! -Use as bread and build a sandwich! I am using Tzatziki, chicken, tomatoes, arugula and red onion! #cottagecheese #cottagecheeseflatbread #healthyrecipes #lowcarbrecipes #viralrecipe

♬ original sound - Mac

In another popular post from earlier this month, recipe vlogger Christine Paytas showed her followers how to make a tasty, low-fat single-serve buffalo chicken dip by combining cooked, shredded chicken with whipped cottage cheese, spices, and hot sauce; then topping with a bit of shredded cheddar cheese and baking in the oven.

The result looks as good as anything you've ever encountered at a Super Bowl party, with likely a fraction of the fat and calories.

@eatpayylove

back with another tasty cottage cheese recipe!

♬ un x100to - Grupo Frontera & Bad Bunny

In fact, just a one half-cup serving of low-fat cottage cheese boasts about 80 calories and a whopping 14 grams of protein. So for those who have always been cottage cheese curious, now's your chance to get on board with the trend.

Kolkata In 24 Hours: What To Eat, Where To Go And More - Explore The City In A Day

Kolkata rightly referred to as the 'City of Joy', is known for its rich history, culture, and heritage. The documented history of the city begins with the arrival of Job Charnock on behalf of the British East India Company in 1690. However, anthropologists believe that the region was inhabited for at least a thousand years which adds to the versatility of the place. That's not all. Over the years, we have seen immigration of various communities in the city, leaving a huge impact on its overall characteristics. All these add to the mysticism of Kolkata, making it a great destination for exploration. In this article, we have curated a customised guide for you to make the most of the city in just 24 hours. So, without further ado, let's get going.

24 Hours In Kolkata: The Ultimate Food And Destination Guide To Explore The City:

Did you know that Kolkata gave birth to the cuisine that we relish as desi-Chinese (or Indo-Chinese) today? Having settled in Kolkata as early as the 1780s, the Chinese-Indian population has historically played a major role in defining the city's food culture. And proof of the same is the Chinese-Indian breakfast they serve, especially at the morning market in Tiretti Bazar. The entrance to the market is dominated by fresh vegetables and fish, but once you enter the lane, the magic begins. You will find people sitting on the sides of the streets, selling fresh homemade sausages, momos, fish ball soup, noodle soup, wonton, pork rolls, and more.

The market opens as early as 5-5.30 in the morning and gets closed by 8.30 am. However, the timing may vary on Sundays. So, we suggest getting to the place by 6 am to start your day on an indulgent note.

Address: 23/1, Chatawala Lane, Near Poddar Court, Tiretti
