DirecTV Quietly Adds 5 New Channels for Customers

Earlier this week DirecTV made a new offering to its customers without so much as an announcement. The pay TV service folded in five new channels to the streaming lineup, but only for some subscribers.

The move came not long after DirecTV added seven new ESPN+ live sports channels for satellite customers.

DirecTV Adds 5 New Peacock Chanels

Cordcutters News first reported that DirecTV added as many as five Peacock Games channels for subscribers who sign up for Peacock through their DirecTV subscription.

"The first Peacock Games channels hit the service last night and feature college basketball, with more set to launch in the future, around upcoming events. The channels will include major Big Ten and Big East college basketball, top English Premier League action, and other significant live sports events," Cordcutters News said.

DirecTV Offers Further Information on New Channels

DirectTV sells its Peacock premium plan for $10.99, the same price on the Peacock website, but also includes it in other packages like its $9.99 a month Movie Extra Pack.

The TV provider issued a statement revealing the availability of the new channels will "depend on the volume of events and live content, but we can expand to as many as five by 2Q or so 2026. We’ll have at least three to work with as soon as a week from now.”

For now, the new offering serves as "extra live action" as customers wait to see if DirecTV will land NBC Sports Network as a new service in the near future - only Comcast's Xfinity and YouTube TV are offering the revived channel right now.
