Amazon Prime Video Suddenly Cancels New Show Despite 5 Planned Seasons

Amazon Prime Video had big plans for one of its new shows, but it sounds like those plans have changed rather abruptly.

Back in September, Amazon Prime Video released The Runarounds, a unique coming-of-age drama that follows a real-life rock band that was created for the show. Creators Jonas and Josh Pate had a five-season plan for the show, but it sounds like it has been canceled after just one season.

A Real-Life Band

The show was formed around William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock and Jesse Golliher, who star in a rock band that is actually currently on tour in real life. The band was formed back in 2021 after Jonas issued a casting call for a group to appear on the Netflix hit Outer Banks, which was also created by the Pate brothers.

“Over the course of one unforgettable summer, they throw themselves into the pursuit of their big break — falling in love, getting into trouble and building the kind of bonds that feel like family along the way. With original music, romantic entanglements and the raw highs and lows of coming-of-age, The Runarounds captures the rush of risking everything at the edge of adulthood to chase your dreams,” the synopsis for the show reads.

 A 5-Season Plan

Jonas previously told The Hollywood Reporterthat there was a five-season plan for the series with season 2 expected to follow the band on a “super crappy van on the regional tour playing colleges and 200 capacity rooms” as they grew toward eventually opening at Bonnaroo.

For season 3, Jonas planned for the group to open for another band on a European tour. The fourth season would then follow the band as “a headliner with 5,000 capacity rooms and all the pressures and issues with fame” before the fifth and final season, which would include the band on a stadium tour.

“The dream is can I legitimately take this all the way and feel like you actually were in the van with them,” Jonas told the outlet.

It was a big plan, but it does not sound like it's going to happen.

'The Runarounds' Canceled After 1 Season

On Saturday, Amazon announced that the series had officially been canceled after just one season. However, despite the cancellation of the show, the band shared a message on social media indicating that while the show will not continue, the band will.

"Today, we found out as many of you did that The Runarounds TV show will not be coming back for a season 2. First and foremost we want you to know that while the TV series may have come to a close, as a band we're here to stay. This is merely the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one," the band wrote in a statement on social media. "We want to extend a massive thank you to everyone who helped in creating the first season of the show, from our cast and crew to everyone behind the scenes who believed in this and brought it to life. And most of all, to the incredible supporters that have found their way to our music through this show and turned this into something even bigger than we could have imagined."

The band is currently out on tour and is slated to perform at Bonnaroo later this summer.

"When we started rehearsals years ago, we could only picture what this would all turn out to be, and getting to actually live it, and share it with the best fans of all time, has meant everything to us. We hope the unforgettable summer with our friends on the beach resonated with you. If the show inspired anyone, at any age, to try and start a garage band with their friends, then the mission was successful. Hearing your stories and connections with the show has been such a privilege, and we truly couldn't be more lucky," the band's statement continued.

"With all of this said, we won't be stopping the band anytime soon, and if you liked the show and want to see more, grab a ticket, we're coming to your city! We are working on our debut album and we can't wait to share new music and make new memories with you."

The statement also indicated that the band was planning to get back in the studio, promising new music soon.

Why We Love This Deal

There’s a lot to be said for quick-dry sandals, which eliminate the annoying odor-producing residual wetness from sandal straps. But what sandals don’t absorb water at all? That’s the magic of the EVA material, and a big reason why shoppers love these slip-on clog sandals that Walmart is selling for just $17.

The Rugged Shark Comfort EVA Clog Sandals are a bestselling outdoor sandal at Walmart, prized by shoppers for their high durability and lightweight comfort. What's most impressive is that these sub-$20 shoes have accrued almost 4,500 five-star ratings from shoppers.

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Sizes Available: From 7 to 13
  • Color Options: 8 are still available
  • Material: EVA
  • Best Use Case: These are premium for beach, pool, and lake excursions, but work for casual outdoor walks too.

These are EVA clogs with a heel loop for a low-effort yet secure fit. EVA doesn’t absorb water in the way that fabrics do, so it’s incredibly easy to get dry when out of the water and to avoid getting waterlogged when stepping in puddles. Unlike a lot of sandals, this one also provides quite a bit of foot-top protection without sacrificing breathability.

Note that these sandals are selling rapidly this season, and only 8 of 12 patterns are available at this price. There are also blue and red versions of the shoe available. They’re available in full sizes ranging from 7 to 13 and, though they fit true to size, half-size wearers seem happiest with the shoe when they round up to the next size.

What Shoppers Are Saying

Nearly every shopper makes the inevitable comparison to Crocs, of course. Oddly enough, the comparisons tend to run in Rugged Shark’s favor, as plenty of shoppers find them to be quite comfortable. One no-nonsense shopper told it like it is. “My kids call these knock-off Crocs. But honestly, what working 40-year-old dad would care about a label, when you can get a less expensive alternative with the same comfort?”

Another said, “Fit is true to size, they're comfortable, and they actually capture your foot better than Crocs.”

The Rugged Shark Comfort EVA Clog Sandals are just $17, and a more than worthwhile investment for spring and summer.

Born in the Barn: Oilers Fan Gives Birth at Rogers Place During Home Game vs. Golden Knights

An Edmonton Oilers fan went into labor and gave birth to a baby at Rogers Place during Saturday night's game against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Before the start of the third period in Saturday's Pacific Division clash, Hockey Night in Canada reporter Scott Oake announced that a woman was delivering a baby on the seventh floor of the arena.

Oake joked that it would be nice to have her on the post-game After Hours show, though it would "be asking for too much."

At least someone had a lovely and memorable experience at the game. The Oilers were outclassed by their bitter division rivals, falling 5-1 at home. Instead of extending their lead in the Pacific, the Oilers are now just a point up with five games to go.

The Oilers' bid to retain the top spot in the Pacific Division continues Tuesday night when they visit the Utah Mammoth (9:30 p.m. EST).

The Oilers have been without superstar forward Leon Draisaitl since he suffered a lower-body injury on March 15. Draisaitl isn't expected to return until the playoffs.

One of Edmonton's other top scorers, winger Zach Hyman, could also miss the remainder of the regular season. Head coach Kris Knoblauch told reporters that Hyman has an undisclosed injury, though he would be playing if it were the postseason.

As we saw last year, home advantage isn't a necessity for Edmonton. They defeated three higher-seeded teams before falling to the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final for the second straight year.

That said, winning the Pacific would likely mean a more favorable matchup against Utah instead of a star-studded Vegas or Anaheim Ducks squad. Edmonton still controls its own destiny, but winning the division is easier said than done with two of its top three scorers likely out for the remainder of the regular season.

Merrell's New-Age SpeedArc Hiking Shoes Are Over 60% Off Right Now

Why We Love This Deal

Merrell is currently running its Spring Sale, which will save you 40% off select spring styles on its rugged hiking footwear as well as hoodies and jackets, too. What Merrell isn’t advertising heavily, however, is that you can put in code EXTRA40 in the checkout menu and save an additional 40%. That makes the offerings in the sale, including these futuristic hybrid trail shoes, over 60% off.

The Merrell SpeedArc Matis is now just $65 once all discounts are applied. So, while the inspiration from On’s running shoes is clear from the perforated midsole, the affordability is much higher. Fans of this shoe may also wish to check out the Gore-Tex version and the SpeedArc Surge BOA, which are also on sale at this time.

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Sizes Available: From 7 to 15
  • Color Options: 6 styles are available at the sale price
  • Key Features: The shoe includes a removable EVA foam footbed, a lightweight FlexPlate for stability, a FloatPro Foam two-part midsole, and a Vibram MegaGrip rubber outsole.
  • Best Use Case: Merrell designed this as an all-terrain hiker that’s stylish enough for city streets, too.

Merrell’s SpeedArc series features a unique look when compared to Merrell’s typically chunky trail runners or solidly outdoor Moabs. The SpeedArc Matis is a lighter shoe, with springiness visible right from the midsole, and one that will look fashionable below both hiking pants and chinos. And while it’s fun to say this is like a techy utility pant for your foot, the style change-up does show that Merrell is willing to try something new to appeal to a wider audience without giving up on a core design philosophy that revolves around stability and outdoor performance.

Merrell explicitly labels this as a lightweight hiker for moderately difficult terrain and city streets, emphasizing both its high-grip Vibram outsole and comfortable padding. In effect, however, one can expect plenty of real users to sport this shoe in the way that a lot of the best Hokas are used: as an all-day comfort shoe that can be pushed further if need be.

What Shoppers Are Saying

Now, from the looks of the shoe, it is undoubtedly one that is intended to function on trails and asphalt alike. But what do real wearers notice in everyday usage? One shopper reported in. “The midsole delivers excellent energy return and underfoot cushioning, while still maintaining enough firmness for stability on mixed terrain.”

Another shopper, who complimented the shoes for their light weight and roll-like step, said, “I had Achilles surgery, and these have been really comfortable to wear now that I’m walking again.”

The Merrell SpeedArc Matis is down to just $65 with code EXTRA40 while the Merrell Spring Sale lasts.

A 1989 Power Ballad Quietly Became One of the Most Emotional No. 1 Hits Ever

In 1989, a soaring power ballad from one of rock's biggest bands ever reached No. 1 on the charts. At the time, Bon Jovi's "I'll Be There for You" stood out for its emotional delivery and memorable lyrics. Decades later, it still draws listeners in as one of the most emotional tracks to ever dominate the charts.

How the Song Reached No. 1 in 1989

Originally released 37 years ago, on April 4, 1989, Bon Jovi's "I'll Be There for You" quickly grew into one of the band's signature hits. The track reached No. 1 a little over a month later on May 13, and stayed on the chart for 22 weeks in total.

The track stands out as one of only four Bon Jovi singles to ever reach No. 1. "You Give Love A Bad Name" topped the chart for a week, "Bad Medicine" was No. 1 for two weeks, and "Livin' On A Prayer" became the band's biggest hit as it spent four weeks dominating the charts. That means that the song was more successful than other hits by the band that fell short of hitting No. 1, including "Wanted Dead Or Alive," "It's My Life," and "Always," among others.

Why This Power Ballad Still Resonates Decades Later

In an era when many songs feel like they were carefully crafted like a math equation, tracks with genuine emotion can stand out. The fact that "I'll Be There for You" was written by Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora about a painful breakup with someone he loved, as he told Fuze TV, gives the track a lot of emotional heft.

“One girl that I was completely in love with left me, and that was ‘I’ll Be There for You.’ ‘I guess this time you’re really leaving, I heard your suitcase say goodbye.’ … So it was actually borne out of an experience that I was living.”

Jon Bon Jovi's highly emotive vocal delivery on the track beautifully brought Sambora's lyrics to life in a way that listeners have connected with for decades now. The way the legendary rock performer sang with vulnerability and passion, combined with the song's lyrics, explains why it is still celebrated today.

"I'll Be There for You" continues to appear on roundups of the greatest power ballads in music history. Some examples of that include lists by Ultimate Classic Rock, the radio station Q 105.7, and Sirius XM, among others. One of those rankings was published as recently as 2025, which speaks to the track's lasting appeal.

Dan Hurley's Wife Caught Attention With Behavior After Elite Eight Victory Over Duke

The Final Four of the men's NCAA Tournament tips off later tonight as UConn and Illinois get the party started before Arizona and Michigan square off in a battle of the lone remaining No. 1 seeds.

UConn is attempting to become the first program since John Wooden's UCLA teams to win three NCAA titles in four year span. Wooden's teams won 10 titles in a 12 years span, so Dan Hurley has plenty of work to do, but he has the support of more than just his players and coaching staff.

In a stunning Elite Eight victory over Duke thanks to a last-second three-pointer from Braylon Mullins, Hurley's wife, Andrea, stole the attention. She immediately attempted to get the players back to the bench safely in an effort to avoid a technical foul, which could be called if the bench rushes onto the court.

Dan Hurley Praised His Wife's Reaction

During a podcast appearance after the game, Hurley revealed she's the boss.

“Yeah, and she knows nothing,” he joked. "Yeah, she’s a boss. She’s the Jersey boss lady. And her language is colorful, too. I mean, she was grabbing people around the back of their warmups."

He admitted his wife doesn't know much about basketball, but she knew to get everyone back to their seats.

"And she doesn’t know anything about basketball, you know?" he said. "I said to her on the plane, ‘This is wild. Three out of four years, you’re going to the Final Four. Did you ever imagine this with your life?’ And she’s like, ‘I didn’t even know Final Four existed until four years ago.”

Andrea Hurley Revealed Her Favorite Part of Life in Basketball

While she admitted the basketball life is stressful on the whole family, she loves the opportunity to be there for the players – and even bake cupcakes on their birthdays.

“The players are honestly my favorite part. They’re other people’s kids, and they are away from home, so they need to know that someone is there for them,” she said.

She revealed on Mother's Day, “I get texts from all the previous players and I’m literally crying all day because it’s so insane that these kids think to text you.”

UConn and Illinois tip off at 6:09 p.m. ET. The game can be found on TBS, truTV and HBO Max.

Foreign Court Rules Netflix Price Hikes Illegal — What It Means for Americans

An Italian court has ruled that several years of Netflix's price increases in that country were illegal. The decision comes at a time when American subscribers are already frustrated with their own recent price increases. Here is what the court ruled and what it means for American subscribers.

What the Foreign Court Actually Ruled About Netflix Prices

In April 2026, Euronews reported on a legal ruling that had gone against Netflix Italia. The Court of Rome upheld an injunction against the company over unilateral price increases following an action brought by the consumer group, Movimento Consumatori.

The judge determined that clauses in Netflix's user agreement between 2017 and January 2024 in the country were unfair and abusive. According to the ruling, the agreement lacked a reason to justify raising how much they charge, which it deemed renders those clauses null and void. The court specifically found that price increases made in 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2024 violated Italy's consumer code for that reason.

Euronews' report on the news revealed that Netflix immediately released a statement defending its price increases and pledging to appeal the ruling. "We will appeal the decision. At Netflix, our subscribers come first. We take consumers' rights very seriously and we believe that our conditions have always been in line with Italian regulations and practices."

If the company loses its appeal, it could be required to issue refunds to affected Italian customers. In that case, subscribers of the premium plan throughout the relevant time period would be owed roughly €500, while standard plan users would receive a roughly €250 refund.

What the Ruling Means for American Netflix Customers

Netflix's recent price increases in America angered many of its customers. While some might hope for a similar outcome as what happened in Italy to happen here, laws in the United States make that highly unlikely. In fact, the Italian ruling could play a small role in pushing Netflix to raise prices for Americans in the future.

A 2025 legal paper written for a Virginia State Bar writing competition detailed that under U.S. law, companies can make unilateral changes to user agreements. The main requirements to do so are that the original contract allows it and that customers receive reasonable notice before the change takes effect.

"Setting aside a few outliers, courts have articulated that substantial unilateral contract alterations are permissible as long as some form of notification is provided... In Asmus v. Pacific Bell, the Supreme Court of California weighed in on unilateral modification, taking the stance that it would be permitted so long as reasonable notice was given."

Netflix's user agreement, which every American subscriber must accept, contains the following verbiage that allows the company to raise prices and details how much notice they have to provide. "We may change our subscription plans and the price of our service from time to time. We will notify you at least one month before any price changes or changes to your subscription plan will become effective."

Because of that clause and the advanced notice Netflix provided customers with, the recent price increases in America are almost certainly allowed. Therefore, the Italian court ruling should have no legal effect on the company's customers in the United States.

It is possible that the recent ruling could influence Netflix's future pricing decisions in America. If the company loses its appeal in Italy and its profits decrease, it may seek to make up the difference elsewhere. That could push it to consider charging Americans more than it otherwise might. Still, the effect in that scenario is likely to be small. Companies like Netflix generally make pricing decisions based on what they believe the market will bear without driving away too many customers.
