Lewis Hamilton Mourns Personal Loss: 'Hardest Decision of My Life'

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Lewis Hamilton is mourning the death of his beloved English bulldog, Roscoe, who died on Sunday after falling into a coma. Roscoe was 12.

The Formula 1 star's bulldog was almost as globally famous as he was. Roscoe was almost always by Hamilton's side at races all over the world. Roscoe, whose life was documented on his own Instagram account with more than 1.4 million followers, has walked the red carpet, walked the garages and pits Hamilton frequented. Roscoe was spoiled, something Hamilton was extremely proud of.

Tragically, Roscoe recently battled with pneumonia and had to be placed on a ventilator. As he fought that, Roscoe fell into a coma, and he never made it out. Hamilton shared on Monday that, after four days on life support, he "had to make the hardest decision" of his life."

"After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe. He never stopped fighting, right until the very end. I feel so grateful and honored to have shared my life with such a beautiful soul, an angel and true friend," Hamilton posted in a moving Instagram post. "Bringing Roscoe into my life was the best decision I ever made, and I will forever cherish the memories we created together. Although I lost Coco, I have never been faced with putting a dog to sleep before, though I know my mum and many close friends have."

He continued, "It is one of the most painful experiences and I feel a deep connection to everyone who has gone through the loss of a beloved pet. Although it was so hard, having him was one of the most beautiful parts of life, to love so deeply and to be loved in return.

Hamilton shared that Roscoe died on Sunday evening in his arms.

News of Roscoe's death was so noteworthy that even The New York Times wrote a piece about it, referring to Roscoe as an "F1 social media star."

Roscoe was also a bit of a movie star. He made a brief appearance in Brad Pitt's F1 film.

Brock Purdy Reveals Christian McCaffrey & Nick Bosa’s Wild Pregame Rituals [Exclusive]

Brock Purdy has been with the San Francisco 49ers selected him in the 2022 NFL draft, so he’s seen his fair share of unique moments with the franchise, both on and off the field. Purdy, who was selected with the last pick in the draft, a spot that is dubbed “Mr. Irrelevant,” has quickly shed that label thanks to his play since becoming the team’s starting quarterback.

Purdy recently sat down with Men’s Journal to discuss football, family and his love of one of the cleanest sports drinks on the market, Recover 180. During the conversation, I asked the 25-year-old for a bit of a behind-the-scenes look at pregame rituals, and they didn’t disappoint.

Brock Purdy Opens Up on 49ers Teammates’ Locker Room Rituals

Christian McCaffrey #23 and Brock Purdy #13 of the San Francisco 49ers celebrate in the locker room after the game against the Washington Commanders at FedEx Field.

After discussing Purdy’s own pregame approach, I asked him about the craziest or most unique rituals among his 49ers teammates. He pointed to two names specifically, running back Christian McCaffrey and defensive end Nick Bosa, for very different reasons.

“I would say, just off the top of my head...Christian McCaffrey’s routine is on another level,” Purdy told Men’s Journal. “He’s done it since day one, but you can tell he does everything to a T, the same. Coming in from warmups, he gets on his knees, puts his headphones in, towel over his head, says a little prayer and then gets ready. But I can see it, it happens every single day, so that’s pretty funny.”

While it appears McCaffrey is a big fan of consistency in his routine, Purdy then explained Bosa’s “gross” pregame ritual.

“I know [Nick] Bosa wears the same cut-off to the warm-up out on the field,” Purdy explained. “And it’s gross, this thing is like—I know it gets washed, but he just needs a new one. He’s another guy that wears the same one; a lot of guys have their routines, but I think it makes it fun.”

Related: Brock Purdy's Secret to Peak Performance: How the 49ers QB Uses Recover 180 [Exclusive]

Wearing the same exact cut-off before every game is pretty wild, but it’s good to hear that Bosa does wash it. I’d be willing to bet there are a few athletes out there who have a similar pregame approach, but it may not include tossing the clothing in the wash very often, or at all.

Purdy, who missed Weeks 2 and 3 to start the 2025 NFL season with a toe injury, is back in action for Week 4. Unfortunately, the 49ers lost Bosa for the season due to a torn ACL, which occurred in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Purdy first helped lead the 49ers to the NFC Championship in 2022 following the team’s stellar 13-4 regular-season record, which included his own 5-0 record after becoming the starter. That was followed up by a 12-5 record for the 49ers in 2023, a season that ended with a tough 25-22 Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Now, he and the 49ers are looking to make another deep playoff run, and if they do, Purdy will be a big part of why.

Household Product Sold on Amazon Recalled for Strangulation Risk

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of Persilux Zebra Blinds over potential serious risks.

About 133,000 units of the window blinds, which are sold on Amazon, have been recalled, per the CPSC. The notice says they present a choking risk and can cause serious injury or death in the worst cases.

"The recalled blinds have long operating cords that can cause death or serious injury to children, due to strangulation and entanglement hazards," the recall said. "The blinds violate the federal rule for window coverings and present a substantial product hazard. In addition, the blinds also violate labeling requirements for window coverings."

What to know

The recall was officially initiated last Thursday, September 25, 2025. The Persilux blinds were sold in five colors--beige, black, dark gray, light gray and white--and came in sizes ranging from 22 to 73 inches wide and 64 to 72 inches high.

The product contains the number “X003FFPT63” on its barcode and "Persilux" and "Zebra blinds" written on the packaging.

Amazon sold these blinds between June 2023-June 2025.

What to do if you own this product?

The CPSC is telling customers who have purchased these blinds to stop using them and reach out to Persilux for a repair kit, which contains a new operating cord wand and instructions on how to install.

"Consumers should remove the blind, cut and remove the operating cord and send a photograph of the blinds, with the operating cord removed, to recall@persiluxhome.com," the recall notice said.

The good news here is that no injuries have been reported thus far.

Football Player Apologizes to Bettors for Wild Game-Ending Play

The Indiana Hoosiers walked away with a close win over the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday, but the final score tells a slightly different story than what actually happened on the field.

Indiana won the game 20-15, but they could have won by seven instead of five. Quarterback Fernando Mendoza ran 40-yards in the opposite direction to drain the clock on the final play, stopping in the end zone where he was tackled for a safety.

The play was ultimately meaningless in the big picture of the game, but it meant a lot to those who had bet on the points spread for Saturday afternoon's matchup. After the game, Mendoza acknowledged how his play made the day worse for those who wagered.

Why Did Mendoza Run To The End Zone?

After the win, Mendoza said that he was simply following his coach's orders on the last play.

"Coach said, 'Hey, take a safety, run out of the end zone,'" he said. "When I got to the 2, I saw all zeros on the clock, but I kept going."

Mendoza then said "I know I really cooked people's spreads. My apologies out to them."

Many sportsbooks and wagering services had Indiana as a -6 favorite, and they would have covered that spread if the game ended with them winning by 7. Instead, the final deficit was five, swinging the bet outcome in the opposite direction with no time left on the clock.

Mendoza may have drawn the ire of sports bettors on Saturday, but he made big plays for his team during the game. On Indiana's previous possession, he threw what proved to be the game-winning touchdown - 49 yards to Elijah Sarratt.

Mendoza: Hero to Some, Villain to Others

"It was kind of 'dealer's choice,'" the quarterback said about going through his reads on the decisive touchdown throw. "When the game's on the line and I can throw a pass like that to my guy Elijah ... that's college football. That's what it's all about."

Indiana remans undefeated as they look to make back-to-back trips to the College Football Playoff. The Hoosiers experienced a resurgent year under head coach Curt Cignetti, and he's looking to make noise in a crowded and prestigious Big Ten conference.

THe Hoosiers avoided some of the Big Ten's best teams last season because of their schedule, but they won't be as lucky in 2025. Games against teams like Oregon and Penn State remain on their schedule for the rest of the season.

The Hoosiers got creative on the game's last play, and they may need to do so again to avoid their first loss of the season. We'll see what they pull off for the rest of the year, and if they have any close calls with fans who had a little more than their school spirit invested in the outcome.

Jake Knapp Breaks Silence After Girlfriend's Death

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Pro golfer Jake Knapp is breaking his silence following the tragic death of his girlfriend, Makena White. She was 28.

“Makena was such a thoughtful person whose selflessness toward others is something I will always appreciate," Knapp wrote in a statement to People. "We shared so many unforgettable memories together and now that she’s no longer with us, it’s a tough reality to comprehend. She had an incredible family, great friends, and her fun, outgoing energy will be missed by all of us. It’s an understatement to say how hard all of this is to process for everyone who knew Mak, especially her family and friends, who deserve privacy and respect during this difficult time.”

A friend of Makena's took to her Instagram page to announce the tragic death. The cause of death was not disclosed.

"This is Makena’s friend, writing with the heaviest heart to share that Makena passed away earlier this week. She is already so deeply missed by her Dad, her family, her friends, and of course by Nelly and Fergie," the post read. "Makena was one of a kind. She had this rare way of making you feel special, and her huge heart was always overflowing with love. To be loved by Makena was a gift; one that came with endless laughter, so much joy, and a healthy sprinkling of chaos as we tried to keep up with her travel schedule."

In lieu of flowers, Makena's friend says donations can be made to the BruyĆØre Brain Health & Memory Clinic or the Griffin Bell Endowment Fund.

"We love you Mak," the post closed. "We’ll miss you always, and we’ll be looking for you in the sunset šŸ’›."

Her previous health problems

White had previously posted on X a photo of her Apple Watch showing an elevated heart rate. Calling attending the US Open "golf's longest day," White shared that she has tachycardic, which is when the heart beats fast.

She had also posted a photo in May showing her wearing a monitor that records her heart activity.

“The irony of being at a cardiac surgery conference (for my job) while wearing a holter monitor for your own heart defect is pretty funny,” she tweeted.

Knapp and White's Relationship History

According to reports, Knapp and White started dating in August 2023. They went public with the relationship in 2024 following his PGA Tour win at the Mexico Open.

He finished tied for 62nd at his last tournament, the St. Jude Championship, and he expressed disappointment at finishing 5-over-par.

"Not the finish I wanted for my season but lots of things to be proud of this year. Already getting the gears turning on what work needs to get done this offseason. Thank you to everyone for all the love and support during this year. Next year, we go again ," he wrote on Instagram.

Knapp, 31, had four top-10 finishes this season and finished 55th in the FedEx Cup standings. The UCLA alumni earned $3,012,401 on the tour this season.

Knapp finished 39th in the Ryder Cup U.S. team rankings with 3,128.46 points. The Ryder Cup got underway Friday at Bethpage Black on Long Island, New York.

Jelly Roll’s Health Coach Explains How He Helped Singer Lose 200 Pounds

After hitting his breaking point, Jelly Roll reached out to "Ultimate Human" founder Gary Brecka for help turning his life around.

"I got a DM from him one day and he said, ‘Do you work with fat people?’" Brecka said during a recent appearance on the "Bussin' With the Boys" podcast.

After doing bloodwork and gene testing, the health consultant told the "Need a Favor" artist, "In 10 weeks you’re just not gonna recognize yourself."

"To his credit, he didn't exactly, everything that I said. To a T," he added.

He explained that he instructed Jelly -- real name Jason DeFord -- to follow his 10-week regimen which included daily cold plunging and a 10,000 step challenge. Jelly also began training for a 5k, which he completed in May 2024.

Brecka doesn't take all the credit for Jelly's incredible transformation, however, as he explained the singer worked with other trainers and coaches, including the founder of Ways2Well, Brigham Buhler.

According to Brecka, the "Son of a Sinner" singer explained a day in his life as a 500-pound man, admitting that he felt like he was "going to die."

"I have to sleep on my side and wedge myself in with pillows because if I roll on my back at night, I'll suffocate. I’ll vomit," Brecka recalled Jelly saying. "I never turn the radio down in the car because when I pull up to a stoplight, I can hear myself wheezing. So I just turn the radio up to bury the sound of my own breath wheezing."

Jelly has since lost more than 200 pounds and crossed off many weight loss milestones.

"I got fat, like, really, really young," he said on Stephanie McMahon’s "What’s Your Story" podcast. "I was over 300 pounds coming out of middle school. I’m gonna be under 300 pounds for the first time since middle school the night I walk to that ring at SummerSlam."

Utz Promises Dye-Free Chips as Snack Industry Goes Natural

If you've ever torn into a bag of Utz chips or pretzels, chances are you weren't thinking about food science. But behind the scenes, the Pennsylvania-based snack maker is making an ingredient shift with big implications: by 2027, Utz says its entire portfolio will be free of artificial colors. Nearly 80% of its snacks already skip synthetic dyes, but the company is committing to finish the job within the next two years.

Want trending news, op-eds, and top stories straight to your inbox? Sign up for our Daily newsletter.

Everyone’s Doing It

The move puts Utz in step with food giants like Campbell's, NestlƩ, General Mills, and Kraft Heinz, all of which have pledged to cut back on synthetic colors in response to consumer demand. Regulators are nudging too: the White House has called for voluntary removal of dyes, citing concerns about potential health risks and sensitivities. For brands, the message is clear: clean labels aren't just a marketing perk anymore, they're table stakes.

Why Color Food

Artificial colors have long been part of packaged food, not only for an eye-popping, attractive look, but also to help with stability and consistency. But in recent years, the chemicals have drawn scrutiny from health advocates and shoppers alike. Studies have raised questions about links to hyperactivity and inflammation, and while regulators haven't banned dyes outright pressure from consumers has made them harder to defend.

The Problem With All Natural

Replacing them isn't as simple as swapping Red No. 2 for beet juice or Blue No. 1 for spirulina. Food scientists have to consider shelf life, color fade, and flavor shift. Turmeric, paprika, carrot, and annatto extracts are already being used in snacks as natural replacements, but they don't always deliver the same bright hues. Consumers are proving they're willing to accept a less neon-colored cheese puff if it means fewer synthetic additives. Utz says it will highlight "real and simple product attributes" on packaging as part of the rollout.

The Final Bits

For shoppers, the differences may be subtle—chips and pretzels that look a little more natural in color but still taste the same. Still, the change marks a larger shift across the snack aisle. In an era when people care as much about what's not in their food as what is, even legacy brands are realizing that simple sells. And when a brand as old-school as Utz makes a move like this, it shows just how mainstream the clean-label movement has become.

This $5 Kitchenware Storage Rack Is a Simple Solution to Fix Kitchen Clutter

A well-stocked kitchen can be a cook’s dream. Having the right pot or pan for a particular dish can make cooking easier. While all those kitchen tools can be helpful, keeping them well organized is vital. This storage rack ensures everything is in its place.

A home kitchen can have limited space. While people try to maximize pantry and cabinet storage, the concept goes beyond filling every square inch. Smart, compact and thoughtful organization is key. When those tools are inexpensive, shoppers prioritize that purchase.

Want trending news, op-eds, and top stories straight to your inbox? Sign up for our Daily newsletter.

A Simple Idea for Kitchen Storage.

Available at Popshelf, this Smart Design Bakeware and Lid Storage Rack is just $5. The five tier wire rack easily fits inside a cabinet, or it can be used on a kitchen countertop. The flat shelves are well suited for lids, pans and other kitchen items. The staggered sizes make it easy to grab the desired item. It can be turned horizontally to separate bakeware, cutting boards and more.

Smart Design Bakeware and Lid Storage Rack

Popshelf

Made from steel, the storage rack is durable. The white finish is versatile and works in almost any setting. The simple design is easy to clean.

Although the metal is strong, it is best suited for less heavy items. For example, a substantial pan would not be well suited for stacked storage. It would be better to turn the unit on its side.

If the rack is used to store bakeware, it is best to divide the pieces based on size. While a few pans could fit in each section, overcrowding the space is not advised.

Related: Hobby Lobby’s Stylish $9 Microwave Nesting Bowls Reduce Kitchen Clutter

Since pots and pans are a significant investment, keeping them properly stored is key to their longevity. This rack can help avoid damage, like dings and scrapes that can happen when the items are haphazardly thrown into a cabinet.

Using this storage rack would reduce cabinet chaos. Although finding a pot lid can be easier than locating the correct top for a food storage container, no one wants to become frustrated by disorganization.

Other Uses for a Kitchen Storage Rack.

While this kitchen storage rack is often used for lids and bakeware, there are other uses that can help with organization. For example, the item could be used in the pantry to separate boxes of dry goods, like pasta or rice. Stacking items, either vertically or horizontally, maximizes small space.

Also, this rack could be used under the sink to separate dish towels or stacked trash bags. Having clearly divided areas makes for a clearer visual. Or, the rack could be used for paper plates, napkins or storage containers.

Given the $5 cost and the multiple uses, this simple organizational tool is a smart buy. At this price, it might be worth buying a couple and using them throughout the house.

A Former NFL Star Just Announced His Wife is Pregnant With 14th Child

A former NFL MVP is working on building his own two-deep roster of offspring, announcing a new addition on Thursday.

Shaun Alexander was a two-time All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler with the Seattle Seahawks from 2000-07 before ending his career with the Washington Redskins. During his playing career, the 2005 league MVP married his wife Valerie and started a family.

More than two decades later, Shaun and Valerie are expecting their 14th child. Alexander revealed the news earlier today during an appearance on the "Up & Adams Show" with Kay Adams.

Meet the Alexander family

Heaven Alexander, Shaun and Valerie's first-born, entered the world in May 2002. Since then, they have had 12 more children, although sadly, their daughter Torah died unexpectedly in 2017 at just two months old.

In an Instagram post earlier this year, the Alexanders introduced their entire unit to the world.

Fatherhood means plenty for Alexander

Over the years, Shaun Alexander has made it clear how much he values the responsibility of fatherhood, a role he takes with the utmost seriousness.

"I believe family is the most underrated unit in the world. And the father is so important because he can set the identity, standards, and direction for everyone in the family and all people that come in contact with that family," he wrote in 2019.

"If the father role is handled correctly, communities, cities, states, and even the country will produce healthier people, better able to unite with others, confident in their own gifting to society."

Congratulations to Shaun and Valerie on their newest family member!

Casting Details Emerge on Who They Want to Play James Bond in New Movie

The road to casting James Bond in Bond 26 will reportedly start soon, but with a few key criteria. According to a report by Deadline, Denis Villeneuve will begin the casting process as soon as he wraps production on Dune: Part Three. Rumors have been circulating on who will take up the espionage mantle, but it may not be who anyone is thinking.

Insiders reveal that Villeneuve and his collaborators on the movie aren't looking for an already established Hollywood star. They want a "fresh face" to lead the new installment.

That's not all, as they will move forward with casting a male actor as originally written by Bond creator Ian Fleming. It appears Bond 26 is sticking to its roots, which has made the franchise a success all these years by also having the actor hail from the British Isles.

Insiders also detail that they plan to cast an "unknown" to could be in his late 20s or early 30s, who Lemming once called an "extremely dull, uninteresting man to whom things happened."

With all the criteria they are looking for, it rules out almost all of the Hollywood actors that fans have had in mind. The list includes TimothƩe Chalamet, Tom Holland, Henry Cavill, RegƩ-Jean Page, Richard Madden, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Callum Turner, to name a few.

It seems they are following the MCU formula with actors like Tom Holland, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Tom Hiddleston becoming household names after appearing as their on-screen characters in the franchise.

In separate interviews, Glenn Powell and Austin Butler both agreed they weren't the right actors to play Bond. Their main argument was that Bond had to be authentically British, and not two actors trying to nail a British accent on screen.

With the age bracket they are looking for, the actor who will play Bond will undoubtedly be one of the youngest to play the character. George Lazenby was 29 years old when he appeared in the 1969 movie, and Sean Connery was 31 in Dr. No.

Rory McIlroy Reveals the One Thing Golf Fame Can’t Give Him

With fame comes a few problems. Rory McIlroy has dominated the golf circuit recently, clinching his first Masters victory, completing the Career Grand Slam. Despite the trophies, awards, and solidified legacy, McIlroy admits there's one thing about his fame that he's missing.

In an interview with The Guardian, the pro-golfer admitted that with fame comes a never-ending spotlight on himself and his career. At times, he misses his "anonymity."

"It is a struggle for me to love the position I am in all the time," the 36-year-old golfer said.

"There are times when I would like to just breeze through life and not get the attention I do, but I understand that with what I have done in the game, that is just part of it. There are times that I yearn for a little anonymity and having a quieter life."

He admits that he feels as though he lives two separate lives on the golf course versus his life at home with his wife and daughter. At home, he gets to be himself, and "It’s always nice to get away and feel a bit of normality."

He goes further into how everyone's expectations of what he will do next can lead him to feel as though he can't enjoy the moment. After the calendar slam, it's all anyone could talk about and recalled, "'Let me just enjoy this one.'"

Despite having won the Masters, everyone has their eyes on whether McIlroy will also win the upcoming 2025 Ryder Cup.

"I think that is what people want from sportspeople. They don’t want sportspeople to say they are satisfied because that gives off the idea that you are not putting 100% into what you are doing, which we all are. When you have had a goal for so long and you achieve it, it just takes a little time to reset some goals," he explained.

Despite the "double-edged sword" of being one of the top players in golf, McIlroy admits that it hasn't diminished his desire to keep going. He believes that fans won't remember how much he's made, but the titles he's won.

"What they are going to remember is how many majors I won. So getting up for those? Not a concern at all," he said.

Why We Love This Deal

If there's one thing that DeWalt users cannot get enough of, it's spare batteries, because more power means more progress. The good news is that tons of DeWalt power tools are on sale through one of the brand's largest authorized retailers—Amazon. The DeWalt 20V Max 4.0Ah Lithium-Ion Battery is now just $58 on Amazon. It might only be a few dollars off on Amazon, but it's a decent drop from what The Home Depot is charging and a far cry from the $133 it's going for at Lowe's. This replacement battery easily fits onto all 20V Max power tools, giving you power for hours. It has over 3,400 five-star ratings, and over 2,000 have been picked up in the last month.

One of Amazon's Bestselling Backpacking Packs Is Under $60 Right Now

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Why We Love This Deal

One of the most crucial pieces of gear for venturing outdoors is a solid and reliable hiking backpack. The right pack can make or break your trip, but that doesn't necessarily mean having to spend hundreds of dollars on one. Amazon sells a backpacking pack from a brand called Teton that's less than $60 right now, and despite the price, it still has features you would find in bags more than twice as expensive.

The bag on sale is Teton’s 55L Scout Hiking Backpack, and thanks to a 20% discount off its regular price of $75, it is now just $59. It's earned nearly 6,100 five-star ratings and a top-five ranking among the site's bestselling internal frame packs, so it’s one to feel confident about buying, especially if you're unfamiliar with the brand.

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Capacity: 45L, 55L, or 65L
  • Dimensions: 28-by-15-by-10 inches
  • Weight (Empty): 4.5 pounds
  • Torso Length Adjustment: 15 to 19.5 inches

Comfort is key with the Scout hiking backpack. It's quite light, at only 4.5 pounds unpacked, making this one of the lightest framed packs in its size class that is still pretty tough. And, even when fully loaded, the open-cell foam lumbar pad and airflow channels keep you cool. To ensure a comfy hiking experience, the compression straps and multiple storage zones keep weight evenly distributed, while seamlessly not weighing you down.

It's also crafted to fit most men's and women's body shapes, thanks to its multi-positional torso adjustments that can go from 15 to 19.5 inches. This model is on the smaller side, but it's a great lightweight option for extended weekend backpacking trips. With super comfortable padding, you can adjust the shoulder straps, waist, and chest to distribute the weight more evenly, ensuring better comfort.

Above all else, it comes with practical trail-ready features that seasoned hikers look for, including an integrated rainfly (which is sewn in) that can quickly be utilized when a storm rolls in unexpectedly. Per customer feedback, Teton upgraded the sleeping bag compartment with a stretch mesh opening, and it has an angled water bottle pocket, which allows you to easily grab it without removing the pack.
