Hoka shoes don't go on sale often, but when they do, a ton of styles get marked down at the same time and they almost always sell out quickly. Right now, the brand has a ton of its best hiking boots and trail running shoes discounted by as much as 25%, and it couldn't have come at a better time with summer just on the horizon.
Although the most popular hiking boots typically come from brands like Merrell, Keen, and Columbia, Hoka's styles aren't to be second-guessed. Its arsenal features tall and protective waterproof boots like the Kaha 2 GTX with better soles than many we've used, in addition to some of the most cushioned trail runners we've ever worn in the Speedgoat 5. Other styles, like the Trail Code GTX and the Kaha 2 Low GTX, offer a hybrid approach to trail walking, and each style comes with the cushion for which Hoka's become so synonymous. After Men's Journal looked through the hiking shoes on sale at Hoka, we found four styles that are a must-get before they inevitably sell out.
Hoka Kaha 2 GTX in Duffel Bag/Radiant Yellow, $180 (was $240) at Hoka
The Hoka Kaha 2 GTX is the brand's most diesel hiking boot, boasting a mix of waterproof leather and Gore-Tex fabric with a tough toe bumper, a Vibram sole that has 5mm Traction Lugs for extra rugged, foolproof grip, and the brand's SwallowTail split heel that makes mid-step adjustments easier. This boot features some of Hoka's best running features as well, like a rocker bottom and a thick cushion to absorb shock. It's still available in three colors with sizes ranging from 7 to 14—but it's selling fast.
What Shoppers Are Saying: "I love them, and I will keep buying them…Some trails in the desert Southwest have a hard clay base with a loose sand coating that can make it very slippery going down steep mountain trails. I tried a trail that I had given up on after sliding down it in several pairs of boots, and the Hokas did fine. The traction is great."

Hoka Speedgoat 5 in Thyme/Fiesta, $124 (was $155) at Hoka
Hoka's Speedgoat is a gritty trail running shoe with a ton of cushion and support. Like the Kaha 2 GTX hiking boot, it features a Vibram Megagrip rubber sole with Traction Lugs, a rocker bottom, and a protective toe cap, but this trail shoe features a far more breathable upper that keeps you going fast without overheating. It also has a convenient extended heel tab for easier on-off access. Find your favorite color from the 10-plus that are on sale or the handful that are available in wide sizes.
Why We Love It: We've been rocking the Speedgoat 5s for a few months now to tackle some of the urban hiking trails in Southern California and they've been a joy to wear. They're extraordinarily comfortable and bouncy, even when hitting rocks and roots, and the shock absorbency far exceeded our expectations.

Hoka Trail Code GTX in Castlerock/Persimmon Orange, $138 (was $185) at Hoka
With a similar Vibram outsole design to the Kaha 2 hiking boot and the Speedgoat, Hoka's Trail Code boot is a better choice for those seeking an in-between option. Its mid-height shaft doesn't eat up too much leg while still providing good ankle coverage, and it features everything shoppers look for in a great hiking boot, including waterproof Gore-Tex materials, trusty lacing systems, and great protection against tough terrain. It's on sale in five great colors and comes in sizes 7 to 14.
What Shoppers Are Saying: "They feel like an agile trail running shoe but with the stability of a hiking boot. It strikes the perfect balance of upper flexibility, cushion, and ground feel to make it the ideal boot for the more adventurous hiker who does a lot of rock scrambling and creek crossings like I do."

Hoka Kaha 2 Low in Hot Sauce/Shifting Sand, $165 (was $220) at Hoka
Hoka's Kaha 2 Low features the best parts of its taller counterpart in the form of a shoe. Shoppers report using these trail shoes for everything from hiking to playing morning rounds of golf and even walking the dog. Similar to the Trail Code boot, the Kaha 2 Low also falls somewhere in between a trail runner and a hiking boot, but more toward the latter because of its smaller profile. It's a great option for those who enjoy nature walks but won't seek out challenging routes that could put their ankles at risk.
What Shoppers Are Saying: "Excellent experience walking on trail. Very stable, comfortable feel on uneven surfaces like gravel, and roots. I had both knees replaced over 10 years ago and am very sensitive to impact on my knees. With these Hokas, I feel much more capable of walking and jogging."
