'Serendipity 3', an upscale New York restaurant, has relaunched its 'Quintessential Grilled Cheese' sandwich for a limited period to celebrate National Grilled Cheese Day (April 12). Although the restaurant has held the Guinness World Record for the world's most expensive sandwich since 2014, this particular sandwich had been absent from their menu for some time. The restaurant announced its return via Instagram, stating, "We are bringing back yet another Guinness World Record-winning dish for a limited time only. This National Grilled Cheese Day (April 12th), S3 in New York will be offering "The Quintessential Grilled Cheese Sandwich," which achieved the Guinness World Record for the most expensive sandwich in the world, priced at $214." Take a look:

Wondering what goes into making this record-breaking sandwich? As per Serendipity 3's Instagram, "The sandwich is filled with thick slices of rare Caciocavallo Podolico Cheese, made in Southern Italy from the milk of the Podolica cow, who grazes free-range, feeding on strongly aromatic grasses such as fennel, liquorice, juniper, laurel bay, and wild strawberries, infusing the milk with these sweet aromatic perfumes. There are only about 25,000 of these special cows, and they only lactate during May and June, making this cheese one of the finest and rarest in the world."

That's not all. The sandwich is then toasted and its edges are coated in 23k edible gold. It is served on a high-quality Baccarat crystal plate with a Baccarat glass filled with South African Lobster Tomato Bisque as a dipping sauce, which is swirled with crème fraîche and truffle oil. Sounds delicious, doesn't it?
