Fox News Commentator Dead at 45 After ‘Aggressive’ Cancer Battle

Prominent Fox News correspondent Kelly Powers has died at 45 following a battle with cancer, Deadline reported.

In addition to her appearances on multiple Fox News programs, including Red Eye, Fox & Friends, and The Willis Report, Powers held a PhD and worked as a physician and neurosurgeon. In 2020, she was diagnosed with the aggressive brain cancer glioblastoma. Powers went into remission, but the glioblastoma returned earlier this year. She died on Dec. 1.

“She was a brave and beautiful soul who could make friends anywhere she went,” her obituary read. “Kelly had a love for people and she was dedicated to helping others.”

In addition to her professional pursuits, Powers had a number of hobbies in which she engaged passionately. She was an avid gardener, surfer, biker, runner, and horseback rider. She also practiced ballet and was known for her love of travel.

Powers endured three brain surgeries in addition to immunotherapy and chemotherapy during her prolonged fight. During her initial diagnosis, she was pregnant with her son, Bennett, who is now three. Powers is survived by her husband, Steven Doll, as well as their son and her parents.

Meghan McCain, who lost her father, politician John McCain, to glioblastoma, issued a heartfelt statement to the Powers family. “Sending so much love, light, and prayers to Dr. Powers [sic] family and loved ones,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Glioblastoma is pure, unadulterated evil that no person or family should go through. My family is here if you need anything.”

Frontier CEO Calls Customers 'Shoplifters' for One Travel Behavior

Frontier Airlines made a major announcement on Tuesday that the low-cost carrier would be adding first-class style seating in 2025, along with a host of other benefits for frequent flyer members. However, it doesn't sound like the customer experience is going to be improved for the average budget traveler.

Speaking with Reuters about the upcoming premium changes, Frontier CEO Barry Biffle criticized a recent U.S. Senate report that said Frontier and Spirit paid gate agents incentives of $10 for catching passengers who attempted to avoid paying for carry-on baggage. The report found that both airlines paid $26 million to employees between 2022 and 2023 to catch customers allegedly not following bag policies. Often, those passengers would be forced to pay a bag fee or miss their flight.

"These are shoplifters. These are people that are stealing," Biffle said. "It's not equitable to everyone who follows the rules."

Biffle also commended President-elect Donald Trump's laissez faire regulatory approach that he believes will benefit the industry. Comparatively, the U.S. Department of Transportation under the Biden administration announced new rules earlier this year that would force airlines to pay refunds to customers.

"There's also going to be kind of an unshackling," he explained. "We're going to focus on things that matter, like safety, and stop worrying about regulating prices and regulating experiences."

The U.S. Transportation Department recently ranked Frontier ninth out of 10 major airlines for on-time arrivals in an August Air Travel Consumer Report and eighth in highest rates of canceled flights. It found that the airline was on time just 65 percent of the time across the 80 airports it serves.

"There's a percentage of our customers willing to pay more for comfort. These are affluent leisure customers who want a first-class seat," Biffle noted of the upcoming changes. "This is really our answer. We can produce the cheapest coach seat, but we can also produce the cheapest first-class seat as well."

'Girls Gone Wild' Founder Makes Bold Claim About Women in His Films

Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis is the subject of a new Peacock original docuseries, Girls Gone Wild: The Untold Story, in which he gives his first in-person interview in more than a decade. But perhaps unsurprisingly, it seems safe to say that the 51-year-old hasn't done much introspection over the years.

The interview was conducted in Mexico, where Francis has lived in exile since 2015 due to an active warrant for his arrest issued by a U.S. District Court judge over his failure to comply with terms of a bankruptcy agreement.

It's one of many criminal and civil charges Francis has faced over the years, including 2008 misdemeanor child abuse and prostitution charges stemming from the filming of four underage girls during a 2003 taping in Panama City, FL. He pled no contest and was sentenced to 339 days in jail over the incident, though maintained at the time that the girls lied about their age.

When asked by journalist Scaachi Koul whether he "feels bad" for providing the teens with alcohol and pressuring them to film nude scenes, Francis responded with a stunning, yet wholly characteristic lack of self awareness.

"No, because I don't believe they were victimized. They victimized me," Francis said, via Entertainment Weekly.

When Koul pointed out that the victims were "pretty young" at the time, and too young to be legally held accountable for their actions, Francis doubled down on his claims.

"No, they were 17, just shy of 18. They were the ones that victimized us," he fired back. "I believe, we all believe, that they were put up by the Panama City police, and it was all an operation. So I believe that was quite orchestrated. I walked into a f--king snake pit, okay?"

Francis shockingly also has a rose-colored view on the longterm impact of the predatory series, saying that it "it loosened everything up" in the aughts.

"I think it just made for a so much more fun generation, I think it created the ability to have, obviously, the Kardashians, and it did so much more. More, everything, more for society, for life," he added.

Girls Gone Wild: The Untold Story is described as an "astonishing account of Girls Gone Wild porn empire founder Joe Francis, whose impact on American culture cannot be overstated, alleged sins are numerous and now lives in exile in Mexico amidst the rubble of his once mighty empire."

All episodes are now streaming on Peacock, and you can watch the trailer below.

Why James Van Der Beek Says Cancer Will 'Add Many Happy Years' to His Life

James Van Der Beek surprised fans around the world last month when he announced he'd been diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Rather than let his current health battle hold him back, the Dawson's Creek star is using the fight to change his outlook on life and how he approaches situations with a fresh set of eyes.

Van Der Beek stopped by Good Morning America on Dec. 3 to open up about how life has been so far since going public with his news.

"I knew as soon as I got diagnosed, I knew, 'Alright, this is going to add many happy years to my life. I'm going to make changes that I never would've made otherwise that I'm going to look back on in 30 years and say, "Thank God this happened." So, what can I do right now in order to make that the case?'" he explained of his initial thought process.

"That's how I was about 90 percent of the time. I would say about 10 percent of the time I was a sobbing, terrified mess, which I feel like is a pretty good percentage," he continued, chuckling.

He's also learned to advocate for himself more both at the doctor's office and in everyday life. "It's been an exercise in just being present in all of it and really just allowing the fear to come up and look at it, and also say, 'Alright, why is this in my prescription? Why are all these emotions coming up? And how can this be great for me?" he said.

Related: James Van Der Beek, 47, Reveals Cancer Diagnosis

Van Der Beek went on to share why he kept his health status under wraps for a while before. Unfortunately, his hand was forced in revealing his diagnosis, but he wasn't entirely unprepared for what was to come.

"I had a tabloid call and say 'We have the story and we're running with it,'" he remembered. "Fortunately, I had started to put some of the wheels in motion about how I would talk about it." He signed on to do Fox's forthcoming The Real Full Monty special in which he and other heartthrob stars like Taye Diggs and Tyler Posey will be stripping down to raise awareness for prostate, testicular, and colorectal cancer testing and research; it was on that set among that support system that he decided to start sharing the news with people.

"Having been in the public eye as long as I have, as soon as this happened, I thought, 'You know what? I think there's going to be a purpose to this,'" he concluded. "I think by sharing this I can do some good, especially my type of cancer, [which] is twice as prevalent as it was in the '90s."

The Real Full Monty airs Dec. 9 on Fox and streams the next day on Hulu.

Tom Brady Shows Off Post-Retirement Abs in Shirtless Fishing Photo

Retirement is looking pretty good on Tom Brady, who is currently based out of Florida, where he's lived since retiring from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers nearly two years ago. And while much of the country settled in for chilly weather over the holiday weekend, Brady was out on the water living his best (and shirtless) life.

"A little warmer than it looked in Buffalo last night," the NFL on Fox analyst captioned an Instagram post on Monday, referring to the snowy Sunday Night Football game between the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Though Brady was on hand for the Dallas Cowboys home game against the New York Giants on Thanksgiving, he was back home by the weekend.

In the first photo, a shirtless Brady showed off his sculpted abs while displaying a red snapper he caught. In the second photo, the 47-year-old was pictured on the golf course in a pair of athletic shorts and long-sleeved shirt.

Brady recently finished completion of his $17 million waterfront Miami bachelor pad earlier this year, after purchasing the plot of land with his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen in 2021. Following their 2022 divorce, he retained the property as his primary residence, while Bündchen lives just across the waterway.

Back in June, the seven-time Super Bowl champion told People why he loves living in Florida.

"The quality of life in Florida is just really nice. It's all the outdoor activities that I love the most," he said at the time. "Being on the water is great. I live on a golf course, and I love just being able to get out there, even if it's for 20 minutes, just chipping a few balls."

"I have to be really active," he continued, laughing. "I'm still like a 14-year-old boy, I've just got all this energy, so I'll just go hit a few shots on the course, and then come home and swim in the pool, and then work out, and then the kids come home and we play volleyball in the backyard."

Indeed, retirement has not slowed Brady down at all. "Color analysts have to stay in shape too!" he shared back in September, along with a peek at his workout routine.

56 Dead in Stadium Stampede After Controversial Ref Call

A soccer game in the West African country of Guinea on Dec. 1 ended in tragedy after a crowd stampede at the stadium left more than 50 dead and several others injured.

According to The Associated Press, at least 56 people, including children, have died after the fan rush. It happened in the city of Nzérékoré during the final match of a local tournament between the Labe and Nzérékoré teams honoring Guinean interim president Mamadi Doumbouya. After referees made a controversial call in the game, some angry fans began throwing stones, prompting stadium security guards to use tear gas. That sent adults and children scattering onto the field and trying to escape from the stadium.

The incident has overwhelmed local medical facilities, according to the BBC. One unnamed doctor there were "bodies lined up as far as the eye can see in the hospital," adding that "others are lying on the floor in the hallways" and "the morgue is full."

Bah Oury, the West African nation's prime minister, condemned the crowd's actions in a statement on social media.

"The government deplores the incidents that tainted the football match between the Labe and Nzérékoré teams this afternoon in Nzérékoré. During the stampede, victims [died]," he said. "The regional authorities are working to restore calm and serenity among the population. The government is monitoring the development of the situation and reiterates its call for calm so that hospital services are not hindered in providing first aid to the injured. The moral authorities of the city are requested to also contribute to the restoration of social tranquility."

One of Huckberry's 'Fashionable' but 'Incredibly Tough' Waxed Jackets Is Over $50 Off for Cyber Monday

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Huckberry's Cyber Week sale has been raging for days with discounts on everything from bestselling denim to shirt jackets and so much more. Despite the plethora of great markdowns, there's one particular category that has the brand's loyalists adding to their carts by the hundreds—waxed jackets. These weather-ready layers are a Huckberry staple, and though the Cyber Week sale is wrapping up soon, you can still score one of the best at what's likely the lowest price it'll see all year.

The Flint and Tinder Wool-Lined Waxed Trucker Jacket is on sale for $304, a very rare 15% discount from its normal price of $358. This jacket is one of Huckberry’s bestsellers—an iconic piece that showcases heritage fabrics and craftsmanship and only gets better the more you wear it, and its flannel-lined counterpart was the one Pedro Pascal wore in HBI's The Last of Us. Though a handful of sizes have already sold out, you can still get it in Field Tan, Charcoal, and Chocolate in most sizes from XS to 3XL. Huckberry has also marked down other styles, including the Waxed Hudson Jacket and the Waxed Rancher Jacket, which are both also excellent.

This version of the Waxed Trucker Jacket features a slightly roomier fit and an interior body lining made from recycled Japanese wool blanket cloth, giving it an exceptionally warm, cozy feel. The exterior is made from waxed Martexin 8.25-ounce shelter cloth for a sturdy build and solid weather resistance—the waxed exterior also develops its own unique crease patterns and patina as you wear it. Better yet, you can rewax it to maintain its weather resistance for a lifetime. Wool-lined hand pockets give you a warm spot to warm up your hands on chilly mornings, while a button-flap chest pocket and interior media pocket can stash essentials. The best part? The whole thing is cut, sewn, and finished in the U.S., Los Angeles, to be exact.

The Wool-Lined Waxed Trucker Jacket is a clear favorite among Huckberry shoppers, and the glowing reviews show the hype is real—this is an heirloom-worthy item. “This is a great jacket,” said one shopper. “Fits well, looks great, and I can definitely tell it’s going to develop a ton of character as it breaks in. I think this may be my new favorite.” Another agreed, saying, “It's rugged, fashionable, and incredibly tough.”

Related: Tecovas' Bestselling Boots Are a Seldom-Seen 20% Off, and Shoppers Say They're 'Exceptionally Well-Crafted'

Another called it the “best jacket ever.” “The weight and water resistance are perfect for soggy PNW winters,” they added. “The color has faded beautifully and it is now a stunner.”

The Flint and Tinder Wool-Lined Waxed Trucker Jacket is a sought-after item not just because it looks great, but also because it also feels super comfortable and features top-notch materials and craftsmanship. In short, jackets don’t get better than this. Don’t miss your chance to score one for over $50 off, because it'll likely be the only discount this jacket receives all year.

New Menus In Mumbai Restaurants You Must Not Miss This Season

Mumbai has finally bid goodbye to monsoon and is eagerly waiting to feel a nip in the air. The city that never sleeps can seem even more awake in these months, as it welcomes a time (hopefully free) of intense heat and rain. People are more confident about spending time outdoors and enjoy various types of indulgences. Winter here is a festive season for multiple reasons and what better way to celebrate than with food? Several restaurants, bars and cafes in Mumbai have announced new menus - some related to the season and some simply for novelty. Here are some of the best ones to check out:

Here Are Select New Menus In Mumbai Restaurants To Try In Winter 2024:

Indian Accent, BKC

Indian Accent has a new Chef's Tasting menu that you cannot afford to miss this season. It celebrates the flavours of the streets of India, with festive and regal twists that will leave you curious to discover more. We were left impressed once again, by Chef Rijul Gulati's craft. We had the opportunity to taste both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian versions of the menu. Both begin with a trio of bite-sized treats inspired by popular street eats: indori khopra pattice, Ladakhi apricot samosa and a mini raj kachori. In the veg menu, these are followed by Chef's innovative take on Matar Paneer, a delicious serving of Tawa Jackfruit with sattu roti, and a luxurious Chenna Morel with saffron cream, topped with fresh truffles.

For the non-vegetarians, the initial appetisers are followed by three varied delicacies (which we are still dreaming about) - Kanyakumari Crab, Bihari Tash Meat, and Chicken Pakoda. The main course consisted of Kashmiri Milk Lamb, Black Dairy Dal and Smoked Eggplant raita. For vegetarians, the meat is replaced by "Chowpatty In A Bowl", a twist on Mumbai's beloved street foods: pav bhaji, bhel and more. The mains also include Indian Accent's signature kulchas, which were simply delicious! The dessert course featured Mahabaleshwar Strawberry Cassata, Kaju Katli Cannoli and Soft Baked Chocolate with Basundi (which is worth absolutely waiting for).

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Bandra Born started as an exciting 12-week pop-up and later established itself as a permanent restaurant and bar on Chapel Road. It has already become a beloved hotspot for locals and tourists. This October, it celebrated its 1st anniversary with a revamp of sorts. We had the chance to visit the space and learn more about all the cool new things Chef Gresham Fernandes and his team have curated. Firstly, Bandra Born is now housing India's (and the world's) first dedicated Mahua bar. Guests can now discover the wonders of this indigenous spirit through a thrilling lineup of cocktails that include drinks like the Mahua Colada, Mahua Mule, Tribal Negroni, and many others. Bandra Born's regular drinks menu has also undergone some changes. New entries include Dot's Dodol, It's Always XXXmas in Bandra, Guah-wah, Zig Zag Nights, and other cocktails that pay homage to Bandra and celebrate Chef Gresham's roots here.

The food menu has some delicious additions too. We highly recommend the Watermelon Ceviche, Duck Stroop waffle and the Anglo Indian Coorgi Pork. A special shout-out to the wonderfully crisp Mutton Panroll among the savouries and the delightful Complex Kela among the desserts. We can't wait to return and discover more favourites.

Hurrem's

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Hurrem's has a decadent new menu celebrating Turkish flavours through savoury and sweet treats. We spent a cosy evening sampling some of them at its outlet in Jio World Drive. We recommend the wholesome LentilSoup (especially in this season), the airy Mushroom Vol-Au-Vents and the comforting Potato & Cheese Pide. If you want to go beyond its signature baklavas for dessert, opt for the Saffron San Sebastian Cheesecake or the Turkish Coffee Chocolate Cake. We especially enjoyed the distinctive texture of the latter - but note that is best paired with a beverage. There are Turkish Teas and Coffee available, among other options. For a cooling sip, choose the lightly creamy Levantine Lemonade - which we would gladly return for. Although we didn't have the tummy space to taste them, we must admit that the newly launched Baklava Sundaes (loaded with 3 scoops of ice cream and several other yummy elements), looked incredibly tempting.

Nho Saigon, well-known for its Vietnamese cuisine in Mumbai, is celebrating its third anniversary. The restaurant has launched a new menu that promises diners an in-depth exploration of Vietnamese food and its varied flavours. It has spotlighted lesser-known treasures that reflect the culinary heritage of the country and also take inspiration from traditional recipes cherished by locals. So if you want to go beyond the popular staples like pho and banh mi, you need to head to Nho Saigon soon. Some of the new delicacies you must try are the Banh Beo (steamed rice cakes topped with mushroom/prawn), Bun Ga Nuong (grilled chicken noodle bowl with vermicelli noodles), Hu Tieu Nam Vang (hearty chicken, pork and shrimp soup), Ca Chien (Marinated fried fish in tomato sauce), Ga Xao Sa Ot (chicken stir-fry with lemongrass and chilli), and many more! Bandra's artistic foodie haven on Chapel Road, Mokai, has recently unveiled its Matcha menu. Matcha beverages were already a part of the regular menu (and we had quite liked them when we visited the cafe). However, the new launch adds an experiential dimension and more options to the list. Guests can now whisk their own matcha with authentic bamboo whisks and then choose from the extensive matcha drink selection or craft their own on the spot. Mokai has imported ceremonial grade matcha from the lush tea fields of Uji, Japan, for the same. Guests can enjoy various types of matcha fusions. For instance, The Pistachio Matcha promises to be a rich delight with Sicilian pistachio paste, house blend espresso, and organic honey. The Matcha Misu combines fresh matcha mascarpone, milk, vanilla essence, condensed milk, and house-made ladyfingers. Other highlights include the Taro Boba Matcha, Mango Matcha, Hot Madagascar Vanilla Beans Matcha, Ice Cloud Matcha, Malaysian Jaggery Matcha, etc.

How To Add Pecans Into Your Favourite Indian Snacks: A Beginner's Guide

If you're someone who loves experimenting with flavours and textures in the kitchen, adding pecans to your favourite Indian snacks is an easy way to elevate their taste. Whether you're a fan of crunchy munchies or indulgent desserts, pecans bring a delightful twist to the familiar flavours of Indian cuisine. This beginner's guide will give you creative ideas on how to incorporate these nutritious nuts into your snacks, along with some helpful tips on storing them for a longer shelf life. From simple tips to quick recipes, let's dive into the delicious world of pecans in Indian cuisine!

Why You Should Add Pecans To Your Snacks

Before we get into the recipes, let's take a moment to talk about why pecans are worth adding to your snacks. Packed with healthy fats, fibre and antioxidants, pecans aren't just tasty - they're a great addition to a balanced diet. "Pecans are high in heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, which can help reduce the risk of heart disease," says nutritionist Rupali Datta. "They are also rich in essential vitamins like Vitamin E and minerals like manganese, both of which help boost immunity and energy levels." So, while you're snacking, you're also giving your body a healthy boost!

Simple Tips For Cooking With Pecans:

1. Toast Them First:

Toasting pecans before adding them to your snacks brings out their rich, nutty flavour and enhances their crunchiness. A quick 5-7 minutes on a hot, dry pan should be enough to get them golden and fragrant. Did you know pecans roast better than any other nut, try it out!

2. Chop Or Crush:

Depending on the recipe, you can chop or crush the pecans. For dishes like pani puri or dahi puri, coarsely chopped pecans add just the right amount of texture without overpowering the other ingredients. For smoother snacks like kheer or payasam, you can crush them into smaller pieces.

3. Blend Into Batters:

Pecans can be blended into the batter for baked snacks like mathri or cookies, adding a new depth of flavour. Ground pecans can also be added to dosa or idli batter for an extra boost of protein and crunch.

4. Garnish and Topping:

Pecans make a great garnish for both sweet and savoury Indian dishes. Sprinkle them over dishes like gajar ka halwa, rice pudding, or samosas to add a pleasant crunch and flavour contrast.

5 Recipe Ideas To Elevate Your Favourite Indian Snacks:

1. Pecan Chutney:

Transform your traditional coriander or mint chutney by adding toasted pecans. Blend fresh coriander leaves, green chillies, ginger, and a handful of toasted pecans for a creamy, nutty chutney that pairs perfectly with your samosas, pakoras, or parathas.

2. Pecan and Paneer Tikka:

Add chopped pecans to your paneer marinade to bring a crunchy twist. Simply mix toasted pecans into the yoghurt, spices, and lemon juice for a unique flavour. Grill or bake the paneer as you normally would, and enjoy the added texture!

3. Pecan Coconut Ladoo:

Try making a healthier version of coconut ladoo by adding ground pecans to the coconut and jaggery mix. The pecans add a lovely crunch while the jaggery provides a rich, caramelized sweetness to balance out the flavours.

4. Pecan-Crusted Aloo Tikki:

Add a layer of crushed pecans to the outside of your aloo tikki for a crunchy coating. This adds a nutty flavour that perfectly complements the soft, spiced potato filling. Serve with tamarind chutney or a yoghurt dip for a delicious snack.

5. Pecan and Date Energy Bars:

Looking for a nutritious on-the-go snack? Combine chopped pecans, dates, and a bit of cardamom powder to make your own energy bars. These can easily replace store-bought bars and are packed with healthy fats and fibre.

3 Easy Ways To Store Pecans For Long-Lasting Freshness

Pecans are a great investment for your pantry, but to get the most out of them, proper storage is key.

1. Keep Them in an Airtight Container:

Store pecans in an airtight container to prevent moisture from getting in and spoiling them. This also keeps the flavour fresh for longer periods.

2. Refrigerate Them:

If you buy pecans in bulk or use them infrequently, store them in the refrigerator to extend their shelf life. Refrigeration helps maintain their crunchiness and prevents the oils in the nuts from going rancid.

3. Freeze For Extended Shelf Life:

For even longer storage, freeze pecans in a resealable bag or container. They'll last for up to 6 months in the freezer and can be easily thawed or used straight from frozen for recipes.

Adding pecans to your Indian snacks is an easy way to mix things up and boost your recipes with a crunchy texture and health benefits. How To Roast Sweet Potatoes Like A Pro (Even Without An Oven)

Winter is here, and so are all the colourful, healthy vegetables that make this season so special! Among them, sweet potato stands out. This vibrant red-purple root vegetable is a winter favourite and is found in abundance all over the country. While it's often served as chaat, sweet potato can be used in many other delicious dishes too. Packed with nutrients like fibre, iron, and potassium, sweet potatoes are a popular choice for boiling, steaming, or roasting. And yes, while the smoky flavour of coal-roasted sweet potatoes is unbeatable, we're here with some easy tips to roast sweet potatoes without an oven. Let's dig in!

Here Are 5 Tips To Roast Sweet Potato At Home:

Tip No. 1: Use a Tawa for Roasting

To roast sweet potatoes easily at home, heat an iron tawa on the gas. Place 2-3 sweet potatoes on it. Then, grab a steel pan that fits over your tawa and cover the sweet potatoes with it. After two minutes, use a kitchen towel to carefully remove the pan and flip the sweet potatoes. Keep repeating this every 2-3 minutes. It'll take around 20 minutes to get perfectly roasted sweet potatoes. Just make sure to keep flipping them, or they might burn!

Tip No. 2: Wrap and Roast with Oil

Take two sweet potatoes, rub a little oil on them, and wrap them individually in aluminium foil. Heat them on the gas, turning every 2 minutes. After 10-12 minutes, you can use a knife to check if they're cooked inside. If not, cook them a little longer. Once they're done, unwrap them, let them cool slightly, and peel them. Serve hot and enjoy!

Tip No. 3: Use a Bati Maker

Got a bati maker? Sweet potatoes roast perfectly in it too! Start by washing them thoroughly. Place them on the mesh of the bati maker and set the gas to medium. Cover it with the lid. After a while, open it, turn the sweet potatoes, and put the lid back on. Keep checking until they're fully cooked. Once done, take them out, let them cool, peel, and use them in a tasty chaat, parantha, or any dish you love!

Tip No. 4: Use a Grill Pan

If you have a grill pan, this is a great way to get that delicious roasted flavour without an oven. Simply wash and slice the sweet potatoes into rounds or wedges. Heat the grill pan on medium-high, then lightly grease it with some oil. Place the sweet potato slices or wedges on the pan and cover with a lid. Grill them for about 5-7 minutes on each side, flipping occasionally, until they're tender and have grill marks. The result? Smoky, perfectly roasted sweet potatoes with that awesome grilled texture!

Tip No. 5: Choose the Right Size Sweet Potato

When buying sweet potatoes, aim for medium-sized ones - not too thick or too thin. Thick ones take longer to cook and may remain raw inside, while thin ones can burn quickly. Always pick medium-sized sweet potatoes for even roasting.

Now, you can enjoy perfectly roasted sweet potatoes anytime you want - without any hassle. Need more sweet potato recipes? Click here!

A. Smith Bowman's New Whiskey Is an Oaky Stunner—and Only Available for a Limited Time

Following the successful launch of its Oak Series back in March, A. Smith Bowman has unveiled the second addition to the line, Abraham Bowman Oak Series: American Oak. The collection explores cask maturation in different oak varietals from around the world, as well as barrel char’s effect on whiskey flavor.

The second edition finds the brand focusing on American white oak. While all bourbon must be aged in new charred oak barrels, American white oak has long been the industry standard. Nonetheless, most bourbons only age between four to six years in these charred barrels. Abraham Bowman Oak Series: American Oak is made from a blend of liquids aged in charred American white oak barrels for 12 years, imparting a deep and complex profile to the whiskey within.

“We know American white oak as today’s trusted wood for aging whiskey, but this experiment is about testing numerous oak varietals in pursuit of making the best whiskey possible,” says A. Smith Bowman Distillery’s head distiller David Bock. “American Oak, as the tried-and-true oak for whiskey making, is a vital part of this experiment as we compare numerous experimental oak options.”

The liquid itself features a vibrant red tint and offers aromas of tart apple and dried berries. The palate delivers a balanced blend of raspberry jam and vanilla followed by a smokey undertone. The smooth finish features a lingering sweetness.

“Immediately, what stood out to me was how different American Oak was in comparison to our John J. Single Barrel Bourbon, which is aged for about nine-and-a-half to 10 years,” adds Bock. “A whiskey that has sat for 12-plus years has the potential to be too oak forward, but I am very pleased that American Oak has a delicious balance of flavor components. When blending American Oak, we landed at 135 proof to showcase the tart apple paired with hints of pepper notes, which makes a really enjoyable spirit that I think our fans will love.”

Abraham Bowman Oak Series: American Oak will be exclusively available for purchase through an online lottery. It began on November 25 and runs through December 2. Lottery winners will be announced on December 4.

Bottled at 135 proof, Abraham Bowman Oak Series: American Oak is priced at $80 per bottle. For more information on entering the lottery and details on the whiskey, head over to the official website.
