The study involved 300 women between the age of 19 and 26. Their activities like moving around, waking up time and sleeping time were monitored with the help of their activity trackers.

In fact this study was a follow up on the research which was about the connection between sleep quality/quantity and weight control. An older study found that overweight women between the age of 35 and 55, who were a part of weight loss program increased chances of weight loss by 33% by getting good quality sleep.
Though the exact effect of sleep schedules on body fat has been found by researchers, there are studies that reveal that sleep affects your appetite and hormones which control it. It also affects the body’s metabolism too. Studies say that depriving yourself of sleep increases the production of the hunger hormone ghrelin. This hormone controls your cravings for food. At the same time, there is a decrease in another hormone called leptin that signals the brain the your are full and thereby stops you from overeating. Now with an increase in ghrelin, you will crave more for food and with a decrease leptin, you just won’t know when to stop.
Sleep has more benefits than just weight loss. According to research, sleep helps in detoxifying the brain and helps in preventing neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia. Lack of sleep can lower your body’s immunity and also increase your chances of suffering a stroke.
So, it is important that you get good quality sleep.

Have you been hearing a lot about makhanas or fox nuts lately? Right from the day it has been labeled as a health snack, its value in the market has increased a lot. For the uninitiated, these are puffed-up lotus seeds that are now being sold by so many healthy food brands. This desi snack has made a comeback and I am really glad! The current trend of food companies selling flavoured makhanas is attracting a lot of health conscious people. This is also because the country is witnessing a change in lifestyle. Most people want to follow things that are ancestors did, like using glass and metal water bottles or cooking in clay pots. I have seen people walking in malls carrying copper water bottles and this certainly seems to be a welcome change!
Now coming back to makhanas, are they really helpful in weight loss?
Well, the answer to that is yes, but only if you eat them moderately and in the right way. They are sure to be your best buddies in your weight loss journey. It is better to stick to the makhanas that are roasted at home rather than going for the ones that are artificially-flavoured as they have high salt content and unhealthy trans-fat.
The reason why makhanas are such a popular evening snack is that they are really low in calories. One serving (50 g) of dry-roasted makhanas has 180 calories and zero calories and nil amount of sodium. Dry-roasted fox nuts are best for you as there has been no use of oil or grease.
They are rich in proteins and good carbs. Plus, they are gluten-free and contain a flavanoid – kaempferol which possesses anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory properties. Makhanas also have a high level of magnesium which is important for your heart and the regulation of calcium, potassium and sodium levels in the blood. Even though fox nuts or makhanas have a good amount of carbs in them, the GI is quite low when compared to foods such as rice or bread. A rich source of iron, fox nuts are great for the formation of hemoglobin in the blood.
You might want to know the right way to consume makhanas. Being naturally low in calories and sodium, the calorie count of your makhana snack depends on how you cook it. Here’s how you can go about it,
1) Dry roast them
2) Roast them with desi ghee or coconut oil
3) Roast them with natural spices such as mint leaves, curry leaves, turmeric powder, green chillies, coriander powder, garlic flavour and the like.
Remember to eat makhanas in moderation and have it as a mid-meal snack to handle untimely hunger. Always control portions. Don’t make makhanas a complete meal and go overboard because excess of everything is bad!

One among them is the ‘Cinderella Weight Challenge’.
It sounds weird but those who take part in this challenge need to stick to a formula to calculate something called their ‘Cinderella weight’ and follow a diet plan that helps them reach that weight. All this is to be done to just look like a Disney princess. I wonder, how on earth can someone have such a petite waist?
Thanks to twitter, this weight loss challenge went viral in February 2018. Since Cinderella is a female Disney character, most women began accepting this so called weight loss challenge. The alarm bells were ringing in many countries but many people started trying out this challenge.
There is a formula to calculate a person’s Cinderella weight. Your height needs to be converted into meters and then be multiplied with the same number. The resultant number needs to be multiplied with 18 and then you get your Cinderella weight. To make this calculation easier to comprehend, let’s consider someone with a height of 5 feet 3 inches. After calculation, the final Cinderella weight of the person should be 49 kgs. This is not right and quite dangerous.
It is being said that the diet trend started in Japan and has been spreading like wild fire on Twitter. On the micro-blogging site, a lot of people still are sharing their current weight as well as their ‘Cinderella weight’. However, this trend is rather risky and there are people who are advising against aspiring for such unrealistic body goals.
Time and again it has been pointed out that starving to lose weight is dangerous and not advisable. People should use their common sense and make the right decision because even the actress Lily James who played the part of Cinderella in the movie weighs more than the so called Cinderella weight.

I had been really wondering if there is anything that can be done to lose weight and control inflammation too. We all know that inflammation and weight are the best buddies. Reducing weight helps in reducing inflammation while with inflammation it is really difficult to workout to lose weight. Nasty cycle… isn’t it?
There is nothing wrong in this but there is another effective way to bring down inflammation. One study found that those who exercised for two and a half hours a week witnessed a 12% reduction in inflammation.
Going for a light walk is a great way to recover from inflammation, whether it is due to extra weight or something else. People who had a tough workout are often advised to ease up a little by going for a walk.
Walking is indeed a great way to help in muscle recovery and weight loss. It helps in bringing down the inflammation in the body by sending a fresh supply of blood and oxygen all over the body. F. Gary Gray is directing the film after working on Straight Outta Compton and The Fate of the Furious, while Liam Neeson and Kumail Nanjiani are also in the cast, although it has not been confirmed who they’ll be playing.
Emma Thompson is also in the new film, returning to the franchise as Agent O after appearing in Men in Black 3. While Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are not expected to return, the film isn’t going to completely ignore the world that was built over the first three movies.
Men in Black 4 is set for a May 17, 2019 release.

“There’s a lot of ways to be active outdoors,” McConaughey told Men’s Journal during our October cover shoot. “It’s more fun that way.”

Weight loss has become a major problem on more than 70 % of people worldwide. We struggle our way towards that “Perfect Weight” we always dream about.
