Air Canada Crash Audio Captures Controller's Tragic Admission: 'I Messed Up'

The transcript and audio from the Air Canada plane crash capture an air traffic controller at LaGuardia airport admitting, "I messed up."

CTV News published the full transcript from the audio, which went viral on social media. In it, a second controller said, “Man, that wasn’t good to watch.”

The Air Canada jet crashed into a fire truck that was responding to a different incident, a scene captured in a horrific video.

"Yeah, I know. I was here," the first air traffic controller, who has not been identified, responded. "I tried to reach out to my staff. And we were dealing with an emergency earlier. I messed up.”

“No man, you did the best you could," the first air traffic controller said.

The Air Traffic Controller Told the Fire Truck to 'Stop, Truck One, Stop'

The frantic audio also captures communications between the air traffic controller, and the driver of the fire truck.

"Truck one and company, LaGuardia Tower. Requesting to cross four at Delta," the fire truck driver said.

“Truck one and company, cross four at Delta," the air traffic controller said.

“Truck one and company crossing four at Delta," the driver added.

The controller said: “Frontier 4195, stop there please. (Pause.) Stop, stop, stop, truck one, stop, stop, stop. Stop, truck one, stop! Stop, truck one, stop."

And then: "Jazz 646. Jazz 646, I see you collided with vehicle. (Inaudible) Hold position. I know he can’t move. Vehicles are responding to you now.“

The 2 Pilots Were Killed in the Tragic Crash

According to NBC News, both the pilot and the co-pilot were killed in the crash, and 41 people were injured and taken to hospitals.

Of those, 32 people had been released by early afternoon on March 23, the day after the deadly incident.

According to NBC, the plane was a Jazz Aviation flight "operated on behalf of Air Canada. The plane was carrying 72 passengers and four crew members." The fire truck was responding to a report of an odor on a different plane.

"Air Canada Express Flight 8646 struck an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting vehicle after landing on Runway 4 at LaGuardia Airport in New York," the Federal Aviation Administration wrote in a statement.

"The accident occurred around 11:45 p.m. local time on Sunday, March 22. The CRJ-900 was arriving from Montreal. The FAA and NTSB will investigate. The NTSB is in charge of the investigation and will provide all updates."

The Transportation Secretary wrote on X, "Last night, an Air Canada Express CRJ-900 operating from Montreal (YUL) and a Port Authority fire truck at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) collided at about 11:45 p.m. ET."

He added, "Of the 72 Air Canada Express passengers and 4 crew members, over a dozen are injured. Tragically, both pilots of the aircraft have passed away. At least 2 Port Authority firefighters sustained serious injuries. LaGuardia remains closed until 2pm while the NTSB investigates the accident site."

Fuller Celebrates Another Top 10 Finish

Fuller didn't just bring a crop top to the tournament, though. She delivered her A-game with another solid outing by finishing in a tie for seventh place bolstered by a career-best 64 in her third round on Saturday.

"Felt like things really clicked this week, especially proud of moving day—usually a grind for me, but a 64 (-7)… my lowest round ever. Really felt like my game was finally back with me and it’s the first time I’ve been proud of myself in a while," she said in the caption of a post on Instagram.

Music fans have named a 1971 track the "greatest song of all time" in a new poll. Despite its legendary status, not everyone agrees with the choice. Instead, some consider John Lennon's "Imagine" to be one of the most overrated songs ever released.

In December 2025, a book by Carolyn McHugh titled "The 100 Greatest Songs of All Time," ranked "Imagine" by John Lennon at No. 1. On February 24, 2026, Parade published an article about the book and ran a poll asking readers to decide which track deserved the top spot. Voters could choose from the book's top four: "Imagine" by John Lennon, "Yesterday" by The Beatles, "Life on Mars?" by David Bowie, or "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis Presley. They could also choose Other if they felt that none of those tracks was the best song ever. After nearly five thousand votes were registered, there was a very clear winner.

Parade Readers Voted On the Greatest Song of All Time. The Poll Results in Percentages:

Critics Have Pushed Back, Calling John Lennon's 'Imagine' Overrated

While John Lennon's Imagine has earned praise from music lovers for decades, it also has a lot of detractors who can be very vocal about their critiques of the track. For example, a May 2020 Medium article branded it the "most pretentious song ever written." Similarly, a vote from the readers of TheTopTens ranked it the 7th most overrated song of all time. One of the website's readers labeled it "whiny," while another criticized it for having "a lifeless, uninteresting beat."

The comment section for Parade's article also featured comments from readers who argued against "Imagine" being considered the greatest song. The reader Welzien wrote that the track made them uncomfortable. "I personally find it distressing." Oliver Mellorz criticized the song in a colorful way. Chuck Norris Once Said Something About Bruce Lee That Every Fan Needs to Hear

Chuck Norris spent decades being asked about Bruce Lee, and he never seemed to tire of it because the friendship, by his own account, was one of the most meaningful of his life.

The two met in 1968 at a karate tournament in New York where Norris was competing. Lee approached him afterward and asked if he'd be willing to train with him. What followed was a years-long friendship built on mutual respect between two men who each recognized something extraordinary in the other. Lee was a master of speed and philosophy. Norris was one of the most decorated sport karate champions in the world. They were, in many ways, the perfect sparring partners.

When Lee was casting Return of the Dragon in 1972, he called Norris personally and asked him to play the villain Colt — the fighter who would face Lee's character in the film's climactic scene inside the Roman Colosseum.

Norris had one question. "Well, Bruce — who wins?"

"I win," Lee said. "I'm the star of this movie."

Norris pushed back. He held the world title at the time, and he pointed that out. Lee's response was immediate: "No, no. I don't want to beat the world champion. I want to kill the world champion."

The five-day fight scene they filmed in Rome became one of the most iconic sequences in martial arts cinema history. Lee honored his promise — when his character finally defeats Norris's, he drapes the karate uniform over him and places his belt across his chest.

The Last Time Chuck Norris Saw Bruce Lee

Norris went back to Los Angeles. A few months later, Lee called again — this time to say he was coming to see his doctor. He'd been getting dizzy and passing out. They had lunch, and Lee reported that the doctor said he was "like an 18-year-old kid" and couldn't explain the symptoms.

Lee returned to Hong Kong. A few months after that, he was gone.

Norris attended the funeral in Seattle. When Lee's widow Linda decided to move back to California, she found a home half a block from Norris's house — and Norris spent time with their young son Brandon, telling him stories about his father. Brandon Lee would go on to become a star himself before his own tragic death on the set of The Crow in 1993.

Years later, someone secretly recorded a dinner conversation in which Norris was asked who would win in a real fight between him and Lee. His answer was immediate and unequivocal.

"Bruce Lee," he said. Nobody could beat him.

Why The Fray Still Takes Tequila Shots Before Every Concert

Backstage right before The Fray go on stage the scene looks less like a rock band revving up for a show and more like a moment of reflection and introspection. 

The band raises a round of tequila shots, which is a sacred ritual that they honor even when they’re not drinking alcohol. “Sometimes half of us don’t even take it,” says drummer Ben Wysocki. “But the ceremony of holding them and circling up is always there.”

The Fray—Joe King, Ben Wysocki, and Dave Welsh—will soon be back on the road for its Summer of Light Tour that promotes its new album, A Light That Waits. They’re the same Denver band behind smash-hit earworms “How to Save a Life,” “Over My Head (Cable Car),” and “You Found Me.” Just now they play to crowds that know every word of these songs by heart and often bring their kids along. 

The band’s drinking habits have evolved alongside their music. “We got old enough where the quantity reduced, but the quality increased,” says Welsh. In their early years, the band’s rider was defined by a single bottle: The Prisoner, a cult Napa red blend that mixed zinfandel with cabernet and syrah. “Every day we’d walk into the dressing room and there it was,” Wysocki says. “Gallons of it.” As they toured more widely, their tastes shifted—tequila in the States, Scotch in Europe and something else entirely in the heat of Australia. Eventually they stopped trying to select a signature bottle at all.

While the venues and songs may change, The Fray have a set pre-show ritual.

Welsh is the one whose curiosity went deepest. During the pandemic, he earned his sommelier certification, partly to fill the downtime and partly to see if he could “actually learn this stuff in a productive, academic way.” Now he’s the one who takes the wine list at dinner and the one who brings back bottles from off‑day winery trips—like the Yarra Valley haul he shared with the band in Melbourne. “There’s a little more purposefulness to it now,” he says. “It’s not the era of The Prisoner anymore.”

On the other hand, Wysocki’s palate leans toward Scotch. His drinking habits were shaped by an early encounter with an eager hotel bartender in Salt Lake City who pulled out every bottle he had and walked the band through them all. “I don’t even know if he knew anything,” Wysocki says. “But it set a bar for me early on.” These days he prefers a slow sip in a rocks glass, especially when the band is in the U.K. “If it’s cold out, finding a good Scotch feels special.”

King has become the band’s tequila voice—partly for taste and partly for his vocal health. “I had to make decisions to be less acidic on tour,” he says. So, he gravitates toward reposados, like Arette. Why that brand? “I love the oak, the vanilla, the honey, the little touch of citrus.” His go‑to drink is simple: tequila, soda water, and an orange wedge. “Tequila responds well with me,” he says. “I wake up the next day feeling ready to go.”

Their tastes have been shaped as much by people as by places. They speak fondly of star bartender Leo Robitschek who ran the bar at New York’s NoMad Hotel before it shuttered in 2021. He opened their eyes to craft cocktails and took them to some of the city’s best watering holes. 

They also had formative experiences in Amsterdam's Café Belgique, which is a Belgian beer bar. The first time they stumbled in, they were barely out of their twenties, discovering Trappist ales and was at the time “the best bar we’d ever been to” Wysocki says. 

Returning last fall, they braced for disappointment—bars rarely survive unchanged, and nostalgia is a dangerous lens. But the establishment was exactly as they remembered: narrow, candlelit, packed with locals, the same chalkboard beer list. “It felt like hollowed ground,” Wysocki says. “We were the young ones then, and now we were the old ones, but the bar hadn’t changed at all.”

As they head back on the road, the band admits they don’t know yet what bottle will define this tour. Maybe it’ll be a local IPA, maybe something Welsh discovers on a day off, maybe nothing at all. King, though, isn’t worried. He laughs: “No doubt you’ll find me in the corner with a drink that has a curly straw and an umbrella.”

Slip them into a jacket or pack, and you suddenly find yourself birding more often, and more enjoyably, than you expected. For any modern birder who wants real reach without real bulk, they’re as close to a no-brainer as compact optics get. Consider me de-snobbed.

This 2000 Classic Was Ranked the Best Sports Video Game Ever

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 was ranked the best sports video game ever made by Bleacher Report.

Released on Sept. 19, 2000 for the original PlayStation, Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, and Game Boy Color, Pro Skater 2 predates the era of modern graphics and online multiplayer gameplay. It even predates the original Xbox.

Bleacher Report named the title No. 1 for its seamlessly meshed elements, from its elegant control scheme to its addicting gameplay to its legendary soundtrack. "In many ways, THPS2 brings together everything that makes the rest of the games on this list so great," they wrote.

Aaron Judge Calls World Baseball Classic Crowds 'Bigger and Better' Than the World Series

The World Baseball Classic keeps getting bigger, and according to Aaron Judge, the atmosphere might even top baseball’s biggest stage.

After Team USA edged out the Dominican Republic national baseball team in a dramatic 2-1 semifinal win, the American captain said the energy inside Miami’s loanDepot Park felt even more intense than the World Series.

“The World Series I was in, the crowd here, the crowd we had when we played against Mexico, it’s bigger and better than the World Series,” Judge said after Sunday’s game, per AP. “The passion that these fans have, representing their country, representing some of their favorite players, there’s nothing like it.”

WBC Semifinal Delivers Star Power and High Drama

Sunday’s matchup was packed with star power. Lineups featured 17 All-Stars across the two teams, combining for 56 career All-Star selections, along with five MVP awards, a Cy Young winner, five Rookie of the Year awards, and three batting titles.

On the U.S. side, Judge was joined by stars like Bryce Harper, while the Dominican roster included heavy hitters such as Juan Soto and Vladimir Guerrero Jr..

The Dominican Republic struck first when Junior Caminero launched a home run off Paul Skenes in the second inning, celebrating with a dramatic bat flip that energized the crowd.

But the Americans responded in the fourth inning.

Gunnar Henderson tied the game with a solo shot off Luis Severino, and moments later Roman Anthony gave Team USA the lead with another homer, this time off Gregory Soto.

For Anthony, the moment was especially surreal.

The 21-year-old outfielder revealed he actually attended the 2023 World Baseball Classic final in Miami as a fan.

“Coming to the WBC here, you dream of representing this country and being here the next time around,” Anthony said.

Electric Defense From Both Teams

The semifinal wasn’t just about power hitting — the defense was equally jaw-dropping.

In the third inning, Judge unleashed a 95.7 mph throw from right field to nail Fernando Tatis Jr. at third base. An inning later, he made a diving catch to rob Soto of a hit. Meanwhile, Julio Rodríguez kept the game close by making a highlight-reel grab at the center-field wall to steal what looked like a Judge home run.

“I was like, OK, maybe we got a shot here,” Judge recalled. “But hit it to a guy like J-Rod, who’s one of the best if not the best center fielder in the game, he’s going make exciting plays like that in big moments.”

Another defensive gem came from Bobby Witt Jr., who turned a slow grounder from Soto into a dazzling double play by sprinting across the infield, tagging second base, and firing to first.

Dominant Pitching Seals Team USA Win

Team USA’s bullpen ultimately slammed the door.

American relievers combined for 4⅔ scoreless innings, allowing just two hits. Fireballer Mason Miller closed things out, topping 100 mph on multiple pitches.

The game ended with some drama, though. On a full count, Dominican hitter Geraldo Perdomo appeared to take ball four — but home plate umpire Cory Blaser emphatically called strike three to end the game.

Aaron Judge Looks Ahead to the World Baseball Classic Final

After the win, Judge addressed his teammates in the clubhouse and looked ahead to the World Baseball Classic championship game, where the U.S. will face either Venezuela national baseball team or Italy national baseball team.

Even before the first pitch Sunday night, Judge said he could tell it was going to be special.

“You get chills standing there on the line, hearing them announce all the names,” he said. “It was like an All-Star team they got over there.”

Moments Before The Oscars, One Category is Still Too Close to Call

With just hours to go before the 98th Academy Awards kick off, the Best Actor category is still the most contested race of the night—with two clear frontrunners.

While Timothée Chalamet started this year's awards season with a clear advantage over his competition, Sinners star Michael B. Jordan has entered the race at the final stretch and seems to be posing a legitimate threat.

Back in January, Chalamet picked up the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award for his lead performance in Marty Supreme. In the film, Chalamet plays a narcissistic table tennis player looking to make quick cash to fund his travel to the World Championship in Tokyo, Japan.

The film had an enormous press tour and marketing campaign that was largely funded out of Chalamet's own pocket; this involved climbing the Empire State Building, releasing a cryptic dance video on Instagram, and teaming up with UK rapper Esdeekid for an original track.

It seemed like Chalamet was going to sweep his way to the Oscars, but he stumbled at the BAFTAs and lost Best Actor to Robert Aramayo for his lead performance in I Swear. This was a clear setback—but not necessarily lethal to his chances, as Aramayo isn't nominated at the Oscars.

The real blow to Chalamet's campaign arrived just a few weeks ago, when Michael B. Jordan picked up the SAG Actor Award—which is typically considered the most important precursor award for the Oscars' acting categories.

Sinners is experiencing a huge wave of late-stage momentum, with many experts now predicting that it will overtake One Battle After Another to win Best Picture. After all, it did break the record for the most Oscar nominations ever received by a single movie.

It's also important to note that Jordan isn't the only acting nomination that Sinners received: the film also picked up noms in Best Supporting Actress for Wunmi Mosaku and Best Supporting Actor for Delroy Lindo. In combination with the recent Best Ensemble victory at the SAG Awards, it seems like Sinners is picking up serious momentum in the acting categories.

Still, it's hard to deny that Chalamet is the most obvious choice in this category. He's picked up the most precursors, he's campaigned much louder and harder than his competitors, and he was a hair's breadth away from winning the same award at last year's ceremony. That loss will be fresh in voters' minds and could definitely sway them to vote in Chalamet's favor when the race is this close.
