High-Protein Diet: How To Make Delicious Paneer Paratha For Healthy Breakfast

We all have many staple breakfast dishes that we can gorge on any day. For some, it would be a bowl of idli dipped in piping hot sambar. For others, it would be a simple fried egg and toast. No matter what your choice of breakfast may be, it is a good idea to start the day on a power-packed note. Eating a wholesome and nutritious breakfast acts as fuel for the rest of the day and also enriches the body with good health. Paneer paratha is one such amazing high-protein recipe that can be an ideal way to start the morning.

While you may have tried quite a number of different paratha recipes, this paneer paratha is a class apart and is also rich in protein. Paneer paratha is basically an Indian flatbread stuffed with cottage cheese or paneer. Rather than aloo or onion, paneer is the main stuffing and it is quite delicious. The paratha is prepared and then roasted on the iron griddle or tawa with a bit of clarified butter (ghee). Here's all you need to know about its health quotient, ingredients used and how it's made.

Just like any other paratha, paneer paratha too requires similar ingredients that are available in our kitchen. You would also need ghee or oil for cooking the paratha.

How To Make Paneer Paratha At Home | High-Protein Paneer Paratha Recipe:

The recipe for paneer paratha is quite a hassle-free one. Even beginners can ace it. Just make sure that you don't add too much water in the dough else it would become difficult to work with. Also ensure that the paneer is properly drained and as dry as possible.

1. First, take whole wheat flour or atta in a bowl. Pour a small quantity of water and knead to a smooth, soft dough. Let it rest.

2. Prepare the stuffing by grating paneer and adding finely chopped green chillies, coriander, onion, and spices. Mix it well and keep aside.

3. Take a small portion of the dough and roll it out roughly. Place a spoonful of the paneer filling in the centre and seal it from all sides. Flatten and roll out again.

4. Heat the tawa and transfer the paratha onto the tawa and let it cook on one side. Meanwhile, apply ghee or oil on the other side, then flip and cook.

5. Once the paratha is cooked properly on both sides and turns brown, take it off the flame. Serve with dahi, chutney or pickle of choice!

How To Achieve Weight Loss And Health Goals Without Fail - Expert Tips

A story as old as time, the constantly rising popularity of healthy living does not look like it will ever fade. What does fade though, is our motivation. Weight loss journey starts with signing up with a nutritionist, taking a gym membership and rising with the sun. However, as the weeks go by, the intensity and motivation keep reducing. If this is your story as well, know that it is not you, it is your goal. The only thing you have done wrong is the goal you have made. While most people feel that their goals fail because of their own laziness or lack of motivation, the real reason is very different. Most of the time, the goal itself is flawed and not suited to you. In fact, research says that only 16% of weight loss resolutions succeed.
This makes us wonder, what are these 16% doing differently? Here's a method that works with most people! Defining a health goal that is big enough to need an entire year can be daunting. It is only natural to not know how much is too much. So, follow these steps and make 2023 about achieving your health goal.

Also Read: How To Lose Weight Fast: 10 Tips to Shed Kilos the Healthy Way

0jutu2k8

Here're 4 Steps You Can Follow To Achieve Your Health Goal:

1. Define just a broad goal, more like a theme
Instead of making something specific like "25 kgs weight loss" your goal, maybe make fat loss and body toning the theme.

2. Define what success should look like
When it comes to health goals, keeping them fluid is the key! Instead of making "fitting into a size 6 jeans" your goal, define your health using more holistic metrics. Waking up fresh, bringing down HbA1c levels to normal, being able to do 108 Surya namaskar or running 21 km in a marathon are all defining the same thing, i.e. weight loss and/or fitness gain. However, these goals are more enticing and motivating in the long run. Such goals also ensure you keep overall health in mind at all times.

3. Once you know what success looks like, you simply need to reverse-engineer it
Let's say your theme is disease-free living, and your success looks like HbA1c levels <6%. Simply make a list of all the changes you need to make, and add the tiniest change that you can think of. These changes can range from quitting sugar to sleeping at the same time each day. But have this list in front of you. This list becomes like a ready reckoner for you to refer to at all times. This also gives us the opportunity to strike out the changes made successfully (and we all know how satisfying striking out completed tasks can be).

4. Bring in a professional if you feel out of depth
You may not know what you need to do to achieve your goal or even if you know everything that needs to be done, sometimes it still is difficult to stick to something new. Signing up with a professional like a nutritionist or a personal trainer can be a complete game-changer in your health journey.

With these 4 steps, be rest assured that you have a fool proof goal that will succeed.

In case you don't know where to start, here are 10 health goals that are very relevant in our lives today and definitely need attention in 2023:

  • Regain stamina and overall health post Covid.
  • Bring back all blood parameters to their healthy range.
  • Become fit enough to go for a super intense trek in the mountains.
  • Do 108 Surya Namaskars.
  • Reduce or get off diabetes medications.
  • Cook all meals at home.

How to Stay Sharp As You Age, According to Steven Kotler

By Mike Sarraille and Jason Boulay

There are plenty of ways to maintain peak performance at different stages of your life. A positive mindset and ability to tap into flow state are chief among them.

If you're unfamiliar, a flow state occurs when someone is so focused and immersed in an activity that their perception of time and self-awareness drifts into the background. Athletes often refer to this as being in the zone, while artists might describe it as a creative trance. Regardless of terminology, it’s a powerful tool that allows us to accomplish extraordinary things.

The late psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi introduced flow theory in the 1970s. Since then, it's been further researched, developed, and promoted by Steven KotlerThe New York Times bestselling author, performance expert, and recent Men's Journal Everyday Warrior Podcast guest.

In a society that worships youth and shuns the wrinkles of experience, one might assume that aging is a dismal journey toward inevitable decline. This article explores how researchers like Kotler are turning the tide on aging's perceived downward trajectory.

First, We Must Believe

The inexorable march of time may be an unyielding force, but the human spirit is no less relentless. Countless individuals refuse to be defined by age and maintain peak performance well into their golden years.

Is it a genetic gift, or is there something we can learn from them about aging with grace and, more importantly, purpose?

Psychologists and gerontologists have long explored the effects of mindset on aging, and their findings are intriguing and inspiring. A positive outlook, it seems, can do more than brighten one's mood. It can also significantly impact cognitive function, physical health, and overall well-being.

After 20 years of research, the Ohio Longitudinal Study on Aging and Retirement revealed those who remain optimistic during the second half of their lives could live an extra seven and a half years. In other words, to maintain peak performance as we age, we must first believe we can.

A Time of Renewal

But what exactly does a positive mindset entail? It goes beyond simple optimism or a penchant for seeing the glass half-full. Instead, it encompasses a broader worldview that encourages personal growth, adaptation, and resilience. As the poet and philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, "This new day is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on the yesterdays."

Of course, cultivating such a mindset is easier said than done. We must challenge the societal norms and expectations that shape our understanding of aging. Far too often, we view the passing years as an inevitable descent into decline, a steady erosion of our physical and mental faculties that culminates in a life of dependency and passivity. But with the proper perspective, aging can be a time of renewal, a period of exploration and self-discovery ripe with possibility.

Consider the pioneering research of Ellen Langer, a social psychologist at Harvard University who spent decades investigating the impact of mindset on aging. In one of her most famous experiments, the counterclockwise study, Langer invited a group of elderly men to spend a week in a monastery retrofitted to replicate the world of 1959. Surrounded by the music, clothing, and trappings of their youth, the men soon exhibited measurable improvements in their physical strength, flexibility, and cognitive abilities.

Langer's conclusion? The mind can be a powerful ally in the quest for vitality and longevity.

Unlocking Superpowers

Kotler, who has written extensively on the science of human performance, says flow state is accessible to everyone, and while "it helps to start young, we know from the data that intervention at any age, even in your late eighties and nineties, can move the needle."

Unlocking these superpowers, however, requires more effort the older we get. Individuals must maintain a strong sense of identity and purpose, engage in creative activities, train their bodies against physical fragility, and push past their natural risk aversion.

According to Kotler, the formula for peak performance involves engaging in dynamic sports such as tennis or skiing, pursuing creative hobbies like playing an instrument or diving into amateur photography, and participating in social activities that foster a sense of belonging and community.

The specific pursuit is less important than the process. What matter most is achieving a continual cycle of growth, risk, and reward that keeps us firmly planted in the present.

The Next Chapter

The most important lesson we can learn from Evelyn and others like her is that the passage of time need not be a harbinger of decline and that the secret of our golden years lies not in the fountain of youth but in our hearts and minds.

In this brave new world, the only limits are those we impose upon ourselves. By embracing a positive mindset and the lessons in Kotler's new book, Gnar Country: Growing Old, Staying Rad, we can challenge our cultural obsession with youth and celebrate the wisdom only time can provide.
